After installation and start of kpowersave a kpowersave application
renders special keys fn+F4 ( sleep )
and fn+F12 ( hibernate ) on laptop x60s thinkpad non-functional.
right click on kpowersave icon and hibernate to disk generates a following
message in /var/log/auth.log
Apr 10 03:27:57 x60s dbus-daemon: Rejected send message, 3 matched rules;
type=method_call, sender=:1.7 (uid=1000 pid=2918 comm=kpowersave

interface=org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement
member=Hibernate error name=(unset) requested_reply=0
destination=org.freedesktop.Hal (uid=0 pid=2570 comm=/usr/sbin/hald ))
To make special keys fn+F4 ( sleep ) and fn+F12 ( hibernate ) functional

This looks right a D-Bus privilege problem.
Add your user to group powerdev or install consolekit, then reboot your
system.
