I installed ktouchpadenabler from unstable and hoped that I could use it to capture the XF86TouchpadToggle event from the media keys on my laptop. When I trigger the touchpad disable, the cursor disappears. However, if I touch anywhere on the touchpad, it becomes active again. I want to disable the touchpad until I toggle it enabled again and ktouchpadenabler doesn't seem to work for that. Thanks for your time. Forgot to mention, according to synaptiks my touchpad is a ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad Also, if I install synaptiks and tell it to disable the touchpad while I'm typing, it works. [8.102613] Registered led device: dell-laptop::touchpad The LED interface appears to be properly detected by the kernel (3.6 head). Just realized that I had to launch kded and then manually start the ktouchpadenabler service. It now enables/disables the touchpad correctly.
