Package: easytag
Version: 2.4.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
I have a ogg file encoded from a live cd, I split it to single tracks with
oggsplt and then tag the tracks with easytag.
When I play the files I hear a click at file change.
The click is not present in files before the tagging and if I tag with kid3.

Dear Maintainer,

Easytag is not adding audio tags to .ogg files. Upon trying to modify tags of
an already tagged .ogg file, it DELETES all tags, leaving everything blank.

What works? .mp3 files are edited successfully. I can see the Nautilus window
flashing (updating contents) as soon as I press the "save changes" icon in
Easytag. But when the file is .ogg, the Nautilus screen where the file is
remains unchanged, probably a sign that the component that deals with vorbis
files is not acting/working.

I tried newer packages from Fedora Workstation 26 and Arch Linux before filing
this bug report, and the result is the same in all of them. Therefore I'm
assuming it concerns upstream developers.

Package: browser-plugin-vlc
Version: 2.0.6-1

While making a summary of the supported MIME types of various browser
plugins for http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/BrowserMultimedia >,
I discovered what I believe is a typo in the browser-plugin-vlc package.

The output from NPP_GetMIMEDescription() got a semicolon too much in the
entry "audio/ogg;codecs=opus:opus:Opus audio;". It is easy to see when
filtering the output using sed "s/;/;\n/g", giving you this list
fragment:

  application/x-ogg:ogg:Ogg stream;
  audio/ogg;
  codecs=opus:opus:Opus audio;
  application/x-vlc-plugin::VLC plug-in;

According to
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/NP_GetMIMEDescription >
each entry in the MIME support list is separated by semicolon, and
having entries with semicolon in them is going to confuse the parsers of
the MIME support list.

I'm not sure what the effect of this MIME entry is, nor how to properly
fix it while keeping the codec information intact, but thought it best
to report it for your consideration.

Package: browser-plugin-vlc
Version: 2.0.6-4
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

With Iceweasel 31.0-3 and vlc 2.1.5-1 I cannot always play QuickTime
videos (supposed to work since #694526 is closed). For instance on
apple.com/trailers, when I try to play some videos, I am offered to
download the QuickTime plugin. However on
http://mac.sillydog.org/qt/mov/embed_s3.php, I can play the video.

In the Iceweasel about:plugins page, I have:
video/quicktime QuickTime video mov,qt

And in the Iceweasel Preferences page I have:
video QuickTime Use VLC Web Plugin (in Iceweasel)

I tried to restart in Iceweasel safe mode, but there is no improvement.

I tried with gecko-mediaplayer and the QuickTime videos play fine.

Package: iceweasel

Severity: important

Iceweasel crashed while I wasn't using it. It didn't produce a core dump,
so that I can't give much information. A few minutes before I was using
the VLC plugin on an mp3 file, and when it finished, the plugin behaved
in a buggy way (I couldn't replay the mp3). I closed the tab before
doing something else on another desktop... then Iceweasel crashed.

Note: crashes of Iceweasel are very rare, so that I suppose that there
may be a relation with the VLC plugin.

Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: important

Hello,

Iceweasel crashed this morning because of the vlc plugin.

I updated last night with aptitude. My vlc installed packages are:

ii libvlc0 0.8.6.h-4
ii mozilla-plugin-vlc0.8.6.h-4
ii vlc 0.8.6.h-4
ii vlc-nox 0.8.6.h-4

I have all packages from debian.org and not from
debian-multimedia.org...

I browse to http://www.avamip.fr/, where there is a video embedded.

I started in command line to produce 2 reports. One normal and one in
safe mode. I attach them to this mail.

The crash is reproduced everytime in normal mode.
In safe mode the browser don't crash.

I tried to remove my ~/.vlc to clean-up the vlc's cache... But it didn't
help.

Package: mozilla-plugin-vlc
Version: 1.0.6-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Disclaimer: I see that there's a new version for vlc in Sid now but this bug
I'm reporting has been present for so long that it's much probable that it
hasn't been fixed.

mozilla-plugin-vlc uses the old, BROKEN, mozilla-mplayer (v. 3.5.5) plugin. The
Mozilla MPlayer plugin that works is the one used by the package gecko-
mediaplayer (v. 0.9.9.2-1).

As an example, I love VLC media player, but I can't install it in a small
system because I have to install gecko-mediaplayer which already brings MPlayer
and GNOME-MPlayer in.
I don't know why this is broken for so long, maybe because Windows users can
use their Windows Media Player native plugin or Ubuntu users can use the Totem
one so it matters only for people who don't use Windows or Gnome or don't have
enough space to waste with two similar media players installed.

I suspect this is an upstream bug, but I and many VLC lovers would appreciate
very much if the Debian multimedia package maintainers could do something about
it.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi,
mozilla-plugin-vlc outputs lots of debug informations. So, it is very
difficult to see my own debug messages when working with mozilla applications.
So, it would be nice to output less debugging informations, or make amount of
printed informations customisable.

arno.

Package: mozilla-plugin-vlc

The VLC plugin crashed when browsing some page with video with
Iceweasel. I have iceweasel2.0.0.1+dfsg-1. I have the core file, so
additional debug information is available on request (though it might
take me a bit over a week or so to respond depending on when you ask;
and no debug syms for the vlc library or plugin, only Iceweasel, so I
assume it is of fairly little use). Here's a backtrace:

Core was generated by `/usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin'.

Package: mozilla-plugin-vlc
Version: 0.8.6.h-1
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertag: debian-edu

When trying to play the embedded video available from
http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/386768 > with the
mozilla-plugin-vlc plugin, no video is started. This is partly
because the plugin fail to detect any URL to play. This in turn is
caused by the code looking for plugin arguments. The arguments on
this page are mixed case, and the code in the plugin only look for
lowercase strings.

The arguments are named 'Url', 'Filename', 'AutoStart', etc. The
plugin code in mozilla/vlcplugin.cpp have tests like this:

  !strcmp( argn[i], "filename")

I believe these tests should be changed to use strcasecmp instead, ie
like this:

  !strcasecmp( argn[i], "filename")

Changing this in the plugin did not solve the problem with the test
page mentioned above, but got the plugin a step closer as it start to
complain about access problems instead of not trying to play anything.

This test page work with the mplayer and kaffeine plugin, so it should
be possible to get it working with vlc too. I've collected some
browser multimedia test results on
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/BrowserMultimedia> in case you
want to see how the vlc plugin compare to the alternatives in Debian.

Happy hacking,

Hi Sam,

mozilla-plugin-vlc works fine, but it doesn't seem to be willing to
stream. if i look at a movie like this one http://www.lafkon.net/tc/ ,
i have to wait until the entire movie has been downloaded before it
starts playing.

if instead i look at the source of the page, copy the movie url, and run
'vlc
http://www.archive.org/download/TrustedComputing/TrustedComputing_LAFKON_MID.mov'
the movie starts almost instantly.

[well, actually it's a not a very good example, archive.org does not
seem to have enough bandwidth. these ones work better:
http://meetings-archive.debian.net/pub/debian-meetings/2005/debconf5/ ]

cheers, piem

Bug#908080: Removed package(s) from unstable

2018-10-09 Thread Debian FTP Masters
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

browser-plugin-vlc |2.0.6-4 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386,
kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips64el, ppc64el
browser-plugin-vlc | 2.0.6-4+b1 | mips, mipsel, s390x
 npapi-vlc |2.0.6-4 | source

--- Reason ---
ROM; firefox-esr dropped support for NPAPI plugins
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 908...@bugs.debian.org.
