  should check for new ports.
- Added brand new manual page.
  * Update debian/copyright.
  * Bump Standards.

Since I compile with DPKG_GENSYMBOLS_CHECK_LEVEL=4 the package FTBFS
in i386 but in amd64 it builds fine.

I noticed that of the 19 new symbols found:
- 15 are those in libmpg123-0.symbols.64bit.in.
- The new ones seem to be:
+ mpg123_framebyframe_decode_64@Base 1.12.1
+ mpg123_open_handle_64@Base 1.12.1
+ mpg123_replace_reader_64@Base 1.12.1
+ mpg123_replace_reader_handle_64@Base 1.12.1

I quickly checked the last log in:
https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=mpg123

And all architectures except ia64 and amd64 show the new symbols found
message. Looking at old logs it started with 1.12.1-1.

Hope this helps,
Miguel

Bug#666206: mpg123: outdated information in the package description

2012-03-29 Thread Adrian Bunk
Package: mpg123
Version: 1.13.7-1
Severity: minor

-- snip --

For full CD quality playback (44 kHz, 16 bit, stereo) a Pentium,
SPARCstation10, DEC Alpha or similar CPU is required. Mono and/or reduced
quality playback (22 kHz or 11 kHz) is even possible on 486 CPUs.

-- snip --

This was perhaps useful information in the last millennium when it
was added, but today even two of the three full CD quality playback
examples are so obsolete that they are not even supported
by Debian anymore...

Please drop this section.

-- snip --

This package contains output plugins for several audio systems, including
OSS/Lite, the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) on Linux systems,
the Enlightened Sound Daemon (esound), the Network Audio System (NAS),
 and others.

-- snip --

This section should either always be kept up-to-date or also be dropped.

Bug#666208: mpg123: should conflict with older versions of the suggested packages

2012-03-29 Thread Adrian Bunk
Package: mpg123
Version: 1.13.7-3
Severity: important

Example for the problem:

Suggests: ..., libpulse0 (= 0.99.1)

This is more recent than the version in stable.

This causes problems on partial upgrades and when using backports.org:

Nothing forces the upgrade of installed (and potentially used) versions
of the libraries a user does have installed, and they might be too old
and cause problems (from missing symbols in the library to runtime errors)
that are usually prevented through the package dependencies.

Change packaging to only build libavcodec-extra* package.
 Other extra packages are unnecessary.

  +libav (5:0.8.1-2) UNRELEASED; urgency=low

Any particular reason why you bumped the epoch here from 4: to 5:?

 --
 regards,
 Reinhard

0.8.1 was less than libav-extra's version of 0.8.1.*, so I had to bump the
epoch to allow smoother transition extra packages which are now built in
libav.

Bug#662628: Problem goes away, for me, if I remove 'control=notify:growl' from ~/.config/vlc/vlcrc

2012-03-29 Thread Adam Sjøgren
I experienced this same problem after I upgraded packages on my unstable
desktop recently: VLC would freeze upon startup and the only recourse
was to kill -KILL it.

Following the advice of Bernat Arlandis I tracked down the line in
~/.config/vlc/vlcrc causing the problem on my machine.

Having the line (written by a previous version of VLC):

  control=notify:growl

makes VLC 2.0.1-3 exhibit the problem on my machine. Removing that lines
fixes it; VLC plays video just fine again.

  Best regards,

Adam

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'squeeze'.
It installed fine in 'squeeze', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
replaces relation.

See policy 7.6 at
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

Package: libmpg123-0
Version: 1.12.1-3.2
Severity: important

Since I upgraded to 1.12.1-3.2, I've been getting segfaults in mplayer like
this:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x082e76c8 in dct64_sse ()
(gdb) bt
#0 0x082e76c8 in dct64_sse ()

#6 0xf7b3fead in mpg123_decode () from /usr/lib/libmpg123.so.0
#7 0x082dab67 in ?? ()

I am not sure whose fault this is as mpg123 plays the one file I tested just
fine, but downgrading to 1.12.1-3 fixes the issue, and so does doing apt-get
source --compile on 1.12.1-3.2 and installing that. So I suspect there's
something wrong with the binary package currently on mirrors.
