Re: [FFmpeg-devel] Reintroducing FFmpeg to Debian

Hi,

On Montag, 11. August 2014, Ben Hutchings wrote:

dvswitch is still broken and there is no dvswitch in jessie...

We have a daily job testing against libav from git, but that was alwayys
broken everyday in the last half year or so. Maybe it would be useful to setup
building against ffmpeg.

Bug#757765: blender-data: adequate reports broken symlink of jquery-ui.js

2014-08-11 Thread shirish शिरीष
Package: blender-data
Version: 2.71+dfsg0-3
Severity: normal
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: broken-symlink adequate

Dear Maintainer,
Thank you for maintaining blender. I recently upgraded blender and
adequate gave me this error and warning.

blender-data: broken-symlink
/usr/share/blender/scripts/addons/netrender/js/jquery-ui.js -
../../../../../javascript/jquery/jquery-ui.js

So I went and checked the path and yes, the path seems to be broken.

:/usr/share/blender/scripts/addons$ cd jtab doesn't produce anything.

which means the whole path from javascript directory/folder forwards
is missing. There is no file or folder starting with the letter j in
that folder/directory.

Looking forward to the fix.

You're right.

When I updated the path for jquery-ui, I copied+pasted the same path for
jquery, thinking they were in the same directory... but I was wrong.

I'll prepare an update soon.

Thanks for reporting.

Cheers.

Bug#686762: Some more info

2014-08-11 Thread Raphaël HALIMI
Version 1.0.8-1 removed all patches (see changelog), which reintroduced
this bug. In current Sid (package version 1.0.9-1), gnome-mplayer again
wrongfully claims that it can play MIDI files.

Here is a patch to modify both gnome-mplayer.desktop and
gnome-mplayer.mime accordingly.

Thank you.

Bug#757880: Devede: Dependency satisfied with mpv but will only work with mplayer/mplayer2

2014-08-11 Thread doug

Package: devede
Version: 3.23.0-13-gbfd73f3-2

With this change mpv was added to the depends -
devede (3.23.0~ds1-4) unstable; urgency=low

* Replace mplayer with mpv in the Depends field.

 -- Alessio Treglia alessio@

 debian.org Wed, 09 Oct 2013 20:47:33 +0100

However there is no way devede can work with mpv or even start if mplayer or
mplayer2 isn't installed.
Seeing as mpv is not a drop in replacement for mplayer/mplayer2 the depend
should not include mpv

Re: [FFmpeg-devel] Reintroducing FFmpeg to Debian

IMHO it's reasonable to expect core APIs to be upwards-compatible and keep
deprecated interfaces around for another release or two.

This is exactly what Libav is doing: The deprecation process for
symbols, APIs, enums, etc. takes *years*, because so many software
packages in Debian and else where use them, and it is so believably
painful to change them. Just have a look at the last two Libav
transitions, and the massive amount of patches it took to get packages
fixed and eventually to get Debian to the new Libav release.

 Now enter FFmpeg.

FFmpeg has a significant higher release frequency, (it seems to me
about every 3-4 months), so that you would get a deprecation cycle
that is considerably less than a year. In practice, the deprecation
cycle more or less seems to match Libav's cycle, because at least
right now, FFmpeg tracks Libav's API. If that were not the case (and
I promise you FFmpeg would stop tracking Libav as soon as it replaces
Libav in Debian), I can almost guarantee [1] you that FFmpeg would
very much prefer to resume to the deprecation cycle the project
before: None, i.e., every piece of software is expected to keep up
with FFmpeg's master branch for reasons Jean-Yves outlines.

These fears are unfounded and these predictions not only do not match
reality they also lack any reason or motive for FFmpeg. We would be
shooting us in our own foot if we randomly broke API or stopped
integrating improvments

It has always been my wish to provide the best multimedia software
to the world. And sure us including all improvments and bugfixes from
Libav is in line with that.

also you have write access to FFmpeg git ...

and iam happy to work together with andreas and anyone else on
debian lifecycle releases.
And you are certainly welcome too

Subject: blender: Segfaults at startup on armhf
Package: blender
Version: 2.63a-1
Severity: important

I'm trying to test Blender's performance under an armhf machine;
sadly, whatever I do to try and start Blender up results in a
segfault.

Either starting Blender up with a file to process or starting it up
with no arguments results in an immediate segfault:

$ blender -b -noaudio
Segmentation fault

I will try installing the version in unstable (the system is currently
a pure Wheezy one). I'm not using a Debian-provided kernel, as I
understand support for the specific subarchitecture is not yet mainline.
