Severity: normal

I am using the radeon oss driver with latest mesa 10.1.0-4 to take
advantage of VDPAU acceleration. This kind of worked with xbmc 12.3 with
some tearing, but stopped working with an update to gotham. VDPAU also
works fine through mpv.
After enabling hardware acceleration in video settings, my x264 movies
behave like audio files and do not show any output. The screen stays blank
and the selected decoder shows as ff-h264 in the info overlay.
I also tried the latest OpenELEC which works as expected correctly shows
ff-h264-vdpau as the decoder.

The problem looks like this one:

Package: xbmc
Version: 2:13.0~beta2+dfsg1-1

Hola,

Just quickly tested XBMC 13 from unstable (2:13.0~beta2+dfsg1-1), on a Zotac
ID41 (Intel Atom D525 / nvidia ION2).

It starts, menus work etc, but playing videos with hardware acceleration
(VDPAU/VAAPI) does not work.
Disabling VDPAU/VAAPI in the XBMC settings allows playing the video, but of
course on that platform
anything with a little bit of resolution drops frames like crazy ;)

Hence, this is mostly a note that there is a bug with XBMC13 on at least this
platform and vdpau

Thus for people who want to upgrade to xbmc13 on this platform, you might want
to have this bug resolved first ;)
This could be related to VDPAU, or just a regression in XBMC. Googling for the
error does pop up
some similar reports, but the typical answer is to disable VDPAU/VDAPI, this
while XBMC12 works fine.

See below the excerpt from the xbmc log what goes wrong with my langlauf movie.

Note that XBMC does not crash, it just does not render the movie;
Subtitles (having non-english speaking relatives is fun ;) do render btw.

Hitting stop will nicely return one back to the menus so one can try another
one.

Greets,
 Jeroen

I was trying to reproduce the VDPAU + libav issue, but since xbmc
constantly crashes this is impossible. It would be nice to have a -dbg
package so I can at least provide a backtrace with the bug report I'm
about to create

Cheers

Bug#752103: [x264] Modify the control file for building without libav etc

2014-10-07 Thread Johannes Schauer
Control: block -1 by 763766

Hi,

On Thu, 19 Jun 2014 18:50:25 +0300 Peter Pentchev r...@ringlet.net wrote:
As promised, here's the second set of patches for the bootstrap build of x264
without the libavformat, libffms2 and libgpac. It adds the appropriate
annotations to the control file so that the build tools (dpkg-dev, debhelper,
sbuild) will know that a stage1 build does not need all the build
dependencies and should not generate all the binary packages.

the syntax for the Build-Profiles field was changed during the bootstrap
sprint in paris [1,2]. Attached patch is updated to reflect those changes.
It only changes debian/control.in so please regenerate debian/control.

As the patch requires debhelper to understand the new syntax, this bug is
blocked by that bug in debhelper.

cheers, josch

Bug#735742: [x264] fix the circular build dependency with libav and others

2014-10-07 Thread Johannes Schauer
Hi,

On Thu, 19 Jun 2014 18:43:08 +0300 Peter Pentchev r...@ringlet.net wrote:
Here's a patch that does this: if we are building in the stage1
profile, the configure script is invoked with --disable-* and the rules
file does not build the x264 binary package at all. This still leaves
the build dependencies in the control file; a separate bug will be filed
for that, modifying the control file to add instructions to drop these
dependencies in the stage1 profile. Unfortunately, the Debian archive
infrastructure cannot yet deal with these annotations, so that bug will
most probably have to wait until Jessie is released.

the syntax for the Build-Profiles field was changed during the bootstrap
sprint in paris [1,2]. Attached patch is updated to reflect those changes.
It only changes debian/control.in so please regenerate debian/control.

As the patch requires debhelper to understand the new syntax, this bug is
blocked by that bug in debhelper.

In contrast to the patch for #752103 (which is marked as block by this bug)
this patch does use the new build profile syntax in the Build-Depends field and
thus can be applied before Jessie is released.

cheers, josch

IMHO Yes. With packaging the new release, we -- as Debian -- have merely
done what is expected from us. By mentioning even the smallest details
and selling them as news, we take relevance from the really important
changes and steal their spotlight.

i agree.

i've updated the wiki to separate new and merely updated applications.

i've also had a go and sorted them alphabetically, as this seems the
only reasonable sorting criteria i can come up with.

Package: cecilia

Justification: blocks the on-going wxpython3.0 transition

I missed this package in my previous checks, as while it uses the wx API,
it doesn't seem to have any sort of dependency on python-wxgtk2.8 or
indeed any wx package (it'd be useful for transitions, and I think also for
users, to add at least a 'Suggests: python-wxgtk3.0').

Starting cecilia from unstable with python-wxgtk3.0 installed, I get the
following output, and it doesn't seem to actually start up correctly:

WxPython is not found for the current python version.
Pyo will use a minimal GUI toolkit written with Tkinter.

Bug#764374: libgroove: FTBFS on hurd-i386

2014-10-07 Thread Svante Signell
Source: libgroove
Version: 4.2.0-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch
User: debian-h...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: hurd

Hi,

libgroove fails to build on GNU/Hurd due to a name clash with OSX, both
are defining the __MACH__ keyword. This package has built previously,
and the latest building version is 4.1.1+dfsg-1+b1. The attached patch
fixes the build problems for version 4.2.0.

Thanks!

Bug#764385: audacious: With some (not all) recent CDs, audacious crashes during audition (segmentation fault)

2014-10-07 Thread Guy Durrieu
Package: audacious
Version: 3.5-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Playing some recent (not all) CDs with audacious. With these CDs, the
crash systematically occurs, although not always exactly at the same
instant of
   the audition.

In the kern.log of the /var/log directory, I find the following lines
   (two trials)

---
kern.log:Oct 7 10:47:17 ITI kernel: [11636.910762] audacious[25173]: segfault

libc-2.19.so[7f1d4c83a000+19f000]

---

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I only tried to increase the size of the cache.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

No effect (corresponds to the second trial).

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

   Well, no more error:)

Dear Maintainer,

I recently hit a bug with the X11 video output driver on mpv 0.6.0.

[stream] Audio (+) --aid=1 --alang=und (*) (aac)

In practice, the window is created, than immediately destroyed, and no

The following upstream commit seems to fix the bug:
