return of the mpalyer package?!

2015-07-16 Thread Fabian Greffrath
Hi all,

has anyone seen this yet?

https://ftp-master.debian.org/new/mplayer_2:1.1.1+r37401-1.html

Does anyone know what is going on, has anyone been informed, has anyone
been contacted by the package maintainer or sponsor (CC:ed)?

I mean, even if this package was removed from unstable and was not in
jessie, it is still a pkg-multimedia package, or not? So this tastes
like package hijack to me. Please clarify.

Thanks,

Fabian

I find that thread a bit difficult to follow, did you mean that

I admit it is, because both you and I have mixed up the musescore-1.x
and musescore-2.0 packages in the course of our discussion.

 musescore-2.0 should depend
 on musescore-soundfont-gm-1.3 and not musescore-soundfont-gm-2.0?

No, musescore (= 2.0) should not depend on any other soundfont package
-- just as it currently is. The Suggests relations to other soundfont
-providing packages should also be fine as they are.

Why do we have to wait for ftp-master approval of timgm6mb-soundfont?

Because musescore-soundfont-gm has been turned into a dummy package
that has Depends: timgm6mb-soundfont -- rightly so. But, if the
latter package is not in the archive, this dependency cannot be
satisfied, which in turn is a policy violation, and thus a release
-critical bug, ans thus avoids the whole package from entering testing.

As discussed above musescore-2.0 should come with its own soundfont
 already included,

Yes, it is in musescore-common (= 2.0).

thus we just need to remove musescore-soundfont-gm as a dependency for
 musescore.

Yes, this has already happened for musescore (= 2.0).

It could get made a suggestion, but perhaps not needed as it simply
 duplicates the other
 suggestions...

It's successor package, timgm6mb-soundfont, i.e. the one that musescore
-soundfont-gm (= 2.0) depends on, is already among the suggested
packages for musescore (= 2.0).

Cheers,

Fabian

C is a dummy package built from the same sources as A, And C's

Bug#792593: lives: please make the build reproducible

2015-07-16 Thread Dhole
Source: lives
Version: 2.4.0~ds0-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: reproducible-bui...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: timestamps

Hi!

While working on the “reproducible builds” effort [1], we have noticed
that lives could not be built reproducibly. During the building of the
plugins from script files, the onchange entires appear in random
ordering as they are stored in a hash and then iterated by the hash keys
(who's order can differ between runs).

The attached patch sorts the onchange entries when building plugins from
scripts to make the package build reproducible.

Once applied, lives can be built reproducibly in our
current experimental framework.

Please also consider forwarding this patch upstream.

Bug#792593: lives: please make the build reproducible

2015-07-16 Thread Alessio Treglia
Hi Gabriel,

How are you doing? Hope it's all good.
I received this email from the Debian Reproducible builds team which
brought a patch up to my attention to make the build of lives
reproducible from sources.
Please see the following message:

On Thu, Jul 16, 2015 at 4:15 PM, Dhole dh...@openmailbox.org wrote:

You may find the patch attached, it is quite small and non-invasive.
I think it would be great if you could apply it upstream.

Thanks for considering.

While working on the “reproducible builds” effort [1], we have noticed
that lives could not be built reproducibly. During the building of the
plugins from script files, the onchange entires appear in random
ordering as they are stored in a hash and then iterated by the hash keys
(who's order can differ between runs).

The attached patch sorts the onchange entries when building plugins from
scripts to make the package build reproducible.

Once applied, lives can be built reproducibly in our
 current experimental framework.

Please also consider forwarding this patch upstream.

  [1]: https://wiki.debian.org/ReproducibleBuilds

You may find the patch attached, it is quite small and non-invasive.
I think it would be great if you could apply it upstream.

Thanks for considering.

Re: return of the mpalyer package?!

2015-07-16 Thread Miguel A . Colón Vélez
On Thu, Jul 16, 2015 at 6:34 AM, Fabian Greffrath fab...@debian.org wrote:

 Hi all,

 has anyone seen this yet?

 https://ftp-master.debian.org/new/mplayer_2:1.1.1+r37401-1.html

Does anyone know what is going on, has anyone been informed, has anyone
been contacted by the package maintainer or sponsor (CC:ed)?

I mean, even if this package was removed from unstable and was not in
jessie, it is still a pkg-multimedia package, or not? So this tastes
like package hijack to me. Please clarify.

Hello:

I saw the ITP on 2014-12-01 and contacted the person on IRC the same
day (~2 weeks after the ITP).

micove hello ... I'm from the debian multimedia team I was about
to commit some changes to the git repo but I noticed that you had
filed a ITP
micove would you like to join the team?
frozencemetery hi, nice to meet you. Sure; I'd love to cooperate
with you all! This is my first debian package, so apologies if I'm a
little slow on thing

He joined the #debian-multimedia channel since that day. My
understanding was that he was going to formally join the team and help
maintain the package under the team umbrella. I had not heard from him
since that day so I assumed he was no longer interested in packaging
MPlayer.

I was in contact with Reinhard and he had reviewed (not sure if he has
seen the last 10 commits)
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-multimedia/mplayer.git/log/?h=master.experimental

and seemed pleased with the packaging. I already finished all my
changes as of 20 hours ago and since the transitional FFmpeg hit
experimental a few hours ago it compiles with the new FFmpeg package
names. Reinhard may have more information about the status of the
package in the team.

Cheers,
Miguel

Bug#792619: transition: ffmpeg

2015-07-16 Thread Andreas Cadhalpun
Package: release.debian.org
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: Debian Multimedia Maintainers
pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org

Dear Release Team,

the Debian Multimedia Maintainers team decided to switch from Libav
to FFmpeg [1]. Thus please remove the testing migration block of ffmpeg.

The transition plan is described on the wiki [2].
Rebuilding reverse build-dependencies is necessary, because the Libav
and FFmpeg libraries are not ABI-compatible.
The ffmpeg source package taking over the lib*-dev binary packages is
available in experimental. I have rebuilt all reverse build-dependencies
and for most a simple binNMU is sufficient.

Two FTBFS issues will be introduced by this transition:
 * gst-libav1.0: needs build-dependency on libavresample-dev #790356
 * taoframework: hardcoded sonames need to be updated
(This is an 'Architecture: all' package, anyway.)

There are also a few unrelated FTBFS issues, but fixes are available:
 * dvswitch: #747868 (with patch), not in testing and not in stable
 * freerdp: #788557 (fixed upstream)
 * jitsi: #789038 (fixed in NEW), not in testing and not in stable
 * sflphone: #787390 (with patch), not in testing
 * xmms2: #792493 (with patch)

Two obsolete packages also FTBFS:
 * gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg: #720796, replaced by gst-libav1.0
 * xbmc: #787018, replaced by kodi

A ben file can be found at the end of the mail.
Please set up a transition tracker and let me know, when the upload to
unstable can happen.
(The command line tools transition is not required to happen in lock step,
because the transitional package libav-tools-links can satisfy the
dependencies, until the packages are updated.)

Best regards,
Andreas

Bug#792647: vlc: Totally garbles up HLS streams without error message

2015-07-16 Thread Axel Stammler
Package: vlc
Version: 2.2.0~rc2-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

VLC plays most media streams very reliably but streams like the following
invariably break
up and repeat bits, quckly falling way behind:

- http://www.abc.net.au/res/streaming/audio/hls/radio_national.m3u8

BTW, this was already true for the Wheezy version.

Here's a go at a transition page - not quite the same as yours. Please

You can use https for the homepage.
Maybe add a few build-dependencies for additional features:
  libcrystalhd-dev [i386 amd64],
  libopus-dev,
  librtmp-dev,

You can also drop the version requirement for libtheora-dev,
 which is satisfied in oldoldstable.

 Please multi-archify the package:
  * mencoder, mplayer, mplayer-gui, mplayer-doc - Multi-Arch: foreign
  * mplayer-dbg - Multi-Arch: same.

Finally, you should update the mplayer, mplayer-gui and mencoder Suggests:
 ttf-freefont (transitional packgage) - fonts-freefont-ttf

 Otherwise it looks good. :-)

 Best regards,
 Andreas

Thanks.:)

All suggestions applied and pushed to git.

Cheers,

Hi,

Does anyone know what is going on, has anyone been informed, has anyone
been contacted by the package maintainer or sponsor (CC:ed)?

I mean, even if this package was removed from unstable and was not in
jessie, it is still a pkg-multimedia package, or not? So this tastes
like package hijack to me. Please clarify.

 MPlayer.

I think it would be best if Miguel and Robbie would co-maintain this
package under the umbrella of the pkg-multimedia team.
Robbie, if that's OK for you, please see [1] how to join the team.

I was in contact with Reinhard and he had reviewed (not sure if he has
 seen the last 10 commits)
 http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-multimedia/mplayer.git/log/?h=master.experimental

and seemed pleased with the packaging. I already finished all my
changes as of 20 hours ago and since the transitional FFmpeg hit
experimental a few hours ago it compiles with the new FFmpeg package
names. Reinhard may have more information about the status of the
 package in the team.
