I had a look at this, and with xfce today in testing, hydrogen is not proposed
as a application to use to open its own files when marking it in the file
manager.  I believe this is a bug and related to the issue in this bug request.

When running 'file --mime-type' on a .h2song file, the mime type returned is
application/xml.  This mime type is not listed in the hydrogen.desktop file.

But instead of just replacning text/xml with application/xml in the desktop
file, I propose to add a new file under /usr/share/mime/ specifying a mime
type for files ending in .h2song, and list this new mime type in the desktop
file.

The /usr/share/mime/packages/rosegarden.xml file look like this:

I am not sure if there is a well known MIME type already for hydrogen h2song,
but if it is not, perhaps audio/x-hydrogen-song would work?  Then I guess

Bug#826133: kodi-pvr-hts: Incompatible version of kodi-pvr-hts in jessie-backports

Dear Maintainer,

this week there was an update of the jessie-backport package kodi to version
16.x.
The package kodi-pvr-hts, however, was not updated.

When I tried so activate the kodi-pvr-hts addon in kodi, this lead to an error,
the kodi-logfile says:

17:25:30 T:140597163718400   ERROR: PVR - Add-on 'Tvheadend HTSP Client' is
using an incompatible API version. XBMC minimum API version = '4.1.0', add-on
API version '1.9.6'

I expected to get a working pvr-hts addon, which is required to watch live tv
on kodi. Technically, I expected to receive an update for kodi-pvr-hts on
jessie-backports, too.

Yes ... both packages shipping same plugin now ...
What would be correct solution ?
Replace Breaks Conflicts ?
Or maybe just remove vocoder-ladspa package from archive ...
If I understand right this plugin has been moved to swh-plugins
project by same people which maintain vocoder-ladspa package.

i think associating rosegarden with *any* gzip file is more harm than
not being able to open rosegarden files via the file-manager (and i
think this is shat sebastinas also thinks)

i think the only valid option is to associate rosegarden with rg files
only (and not with gz files it cannot handle).

however, i don't really see the problem:
afaict, rosegarden.desktop associates with a lot of mimetypes
(audio/x-rosegarden-composition;audio/x-rosegarden-device;audio/x-rosegarden-project;audio/x-rosegarden-template),
but rosegarden.sharedmimeinfo registers "audio/rosegarden" as the
mimetype for .rg files - a mimetype that is *not* listed in the desktop
file.

maybe we should fix this first (and maybe provide a rosegarden.mime file
if this doesn't help).

Very good.  I had a look and cleaned up some issues.  The most annoying
issue left is that 'gbp buildpackage' do not work because of this:

Perhaps you can fix it?

I've tested the package in Jessie (with a patch), and it seem to be
working.  Unfortunately the database of video and audio sources seem to
be horribly outdated, making it hard to find a stream to use for
testing.

Are you going to push the patches and manual page upstream?  Are you in
touch with upstream?  He seem quite responsive.

Btw, you should drop the menu file and use a desktop file instead.

It would … we would not that it's fixed in some version. Then someone could go
and look at the changes between the stable and the unstable version and check
which change might have fixed the issue.
