Bug#873159: jack-capture FTCBFS: unsatisfiable Build-Depends: binutils

2017-08-24 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: jack-capture
Version: 0.9.73-2
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

jack-capture fails to satisfy its cross build dependencies, because its
(host architecture) binutils dependency is in conflict with the (build
architecture) binutils dependency from build-essential. In theory, the
dependency would need "toolchain dependency cross translation", but it
is much easier to just drop the redundant dependency. After doing so,
jack-capture cross builds successfully. Please consider applying the
attached patch.

I had a brief look at the GCC source and unfortunately there is no
pattern here. Every architecture represents va_list differently :(

But in this case (and most others), you could use (arch-bits=XX) to save
you some work.

Severity: normal
User: d...@packages.debian.org
Usertags: dbus-launch default-dbus-session-bus

As described in
I'm trying to reduce how much dbus-launch is used in Debian.
This package currently Depends on dbus-x11 as a way to get a session bus.

This package falls into the "other software that relies on D-Bus"
category: please replace

Depends: dbus-x11

with

Depends: default-dbus-session-bus | dbus-session-bus

so that either dbus-user-session or dbus-x11 can be used.

My short-term goal with this is that major desktop environments in Debian
stretch should be able to run with either dbus-user-session or dbus-x11,
with the other one uninstalled.

Thanks,
S

Hi,
audacious now depends on some Qt 5 stuff, introduced via audacious-plugins - is
this really needed?
Maybe this bug fits better for audacious-plugins.

Cheers Alf

Yeah, we've worked together for a long time (well, several months
anyway) :) Indeed I believe I have some faults in having it join :P

Re: audacious: I went ahead and uploaded it, following Simon's pressure
as he wanted to have a newer version in Ubuntu's 17.10. I don't quite
understand why it stayed in git without anybody uploading it, but then
again the person doing the updates in git never asked for sponsorship
either…

I've had this account for a while. ;)

Ok, cool. In Ubuntu, I've focused on providing security updates for VLC
to all of our stable releases. If I can be of any assistance there, I'll
be more than happy to help (feel free to take my uploads from Ubuntu).

Awesome, Lubuntu ships with this by default (I'm the Lubuntu Release
Manager) and I would like to get a more up-to-date version in 17.10, but
let's see if I can get it in before Feature Freeze. ;)

Fwd: Request to Join Project Debian Multimedia Maintainers from Simon Quigley (tsimonq2-guest)

2017-08-24 Thread Ross Gammon
Hi Simon,

Welcome to the team. I have seen you doing some Ubuntu Release stuff
here and there. Actually, I had read somewhere that new account creation
was switched off because we are about to move to something based on
Gitlab soon. But it seemed to work anyway.

Vlc already has many uploaders listed, but most of the recent work has
been done by Sebastian. I would check with him before starting work on
anything. There are probably lots of bugs that need triaging as a start.

Audacious looks like it could do with some love. So feel fee to get
stuck in.

Please read our packaging guidelines:
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianMultimedia/DevelopPackaging
If you need help with basic packaging skills, I recommend using Debian
Mentors (https://mentors.debian.net/intro-maintainers), although we have
some nice helpful people here in the team (time permitting).

Regards,

Ross

checking for EBML... no
checking for MATROSKA... yes
checking if libEBML contains FindNextChild... yes

and it seems to build libebml after that. So 15.0.0 regressed wrt buster wrt
sanity without that new upstream. See also packages.d.o:

Request for sponsoring Parlatype -- audio player for transcription

2017-08-24 Thread Gabor Karsay

Dear Debian Multimedia Maintainers,

I'm looking for a reviewer or sponsor of my package Parlatype which is a
minimal audio player that helps you to transcribe speeches, interviews,
lyrics etc. It's based on GStreamer and GTK+.

It shows the waveform of the audio and I am not aware of any other
comparable tool in Debian that does that. A similar program is
Play-it-slowly, but Parlatype offers helpers for transcription, like
timestamps (drag'n'drop), rewind on pause etc.

Just to clarify: I'm also the upstream author. I filed already ITP and
RFS bugs here:

ITP: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=868886
RFS: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=867727

I was not aware of the multimedia packaging team before, my first intent
was to maintain it myself, i.e. not in a team. I hope that somebody from
this team is interested and can give me some guidance how to proceed.

Thank you
Gabor Karsay
