Bug#873664: gladish fails to configure jack without python-xdg installed but python-xdg is not a dependency

2017-08-29 Thread mchristias

Package: gladish
Version: 1+dfsg0-5.1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

To reproduce the bug:
1) Open gladish
2) Choose from menu: Studio --> New Studio
3) Give any name and press
4) Choose from menu: Tools --> Configure Jack

A window should appear with jack configuration but nothing happens, so the
user can not configure jack.
If you start gladish from a terminal and follow the same steps, after
clicking "Configure Jack" this message appears:

JACK configure request
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/ladi-control-center", line 28, in
from laditools import _gettext_domain
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/laditools/__init__.py", line 25, in

from .config import LadiConfiguration
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/laditools/config.py", line 22, in

from xdg import BaseDirectory as basedir
ImportError: No module named xdg

After installing python-xdg, gladish shows jack configuration normally.
So, perhaps python-xdg should be a dependency or, at least, a recommendation
for gladish?

jkmeter fails to cross build from source for two reasons:
 * Its explicit build dependency on binutils (host architecture)
conflicts with its implicit dependency via build-essential (build
architecture). In theory, one would do "toolchain dependency cross
translation here", but dropping the redundant dependency is easier.
 * The upstream Makefile hard codes the build architecture compiler g++.

After fixing both issues, jkmeter cross builds successfully. Please
consider applying the attached patch.

Dear Maintainer,

Thanks for packaging ebumeter.

I was translating the package descriptions into Spanish, and I noticed the
English original short description begins with Uppercase instead of lowercase.

As per https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/ch06.en.html
#bpp-pkg-synopsis, begin the short description with lowercase is the recommended
way.

I'm attaching a patch for the "control" file, updating all the short
descriptions
included.

Thanks!

It never built there, so it's important, not serious.

Cheers

zita-mu1 fails to cross build from source for two reasons:
 * Its build dependency on binutils (host arch) conflicts with the
implicit dependency on binutils via build-essential (build arch). In
theory, we'd need "toolchain dependency cross translation" here, but
it is much simpler to just drop the implicitly satisfied dependency.
 * The upstream Makefile hard codes the build architecture compiler g++.
   It should be using $(CXX).

After fixing both, zita-mu1 cross builds successfully. Please consider
applying the attached patch.

Bug#873601: jkmeter FTCBFS: binutils build dependency unsatisfiable, hard codes build architecture compiler

2017-08-29 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: jkmeter
Version: 0.6.1-4
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

jkmeter fails to cross build from source for two reasons:
 * Its explicit build dependency on binutils (host architecture)
conflicts with its implicit dependency via build-essential (build
architecture). In theory, one would do "toolchain dependency cross
translation here", but dropping the redundant dependency is easier.
 * The upstream Makefile hard codes the build architecture compiler g++.

After fixing both issues, jkmeter cross builds successfully. Please
consider applying the attached patch.

The multiarch-support package has been introduced with squeeze so that
packages using the multiarch libraries can Pre-Depends on it to make
sure the multiarch path ares supported by the dynamic linker. As
dist-upgrades from such a distant release are not supported, the
Pre-Depends can now be dropped and then the package removed from the
archive.

Most of the packages added this Pre-Depends through debhelper and the
misc:Pre-Depends substvar, so a change in debhelper [1] was enough to
get rid of it. However it appears that your package uses a hardcoded
Pre-Depends, thus it needs to be removed manually. You will find a
patch attached to do so.

Please apply it as soon as possible as the multiarch-support package
will be removed from the archive for buster. Failing to do so will
therefore make your package uninstallable. In case you don't have
time to do so, don't hesitate to ask for a NMU.

Thanks,
Aurelien

This package Build-Depends on the obsolete automake1.11 package.

Please check whether this package can be built correctly with the
recommended automake version, as provided by the automake package
(currently version 1.15). If it can, please build-depend on automake
instead, with no automake1.11 alternative. automake (>= 1:1.11)
has been available since at least Debian 7 'wheezy' (oldoldstable).

If this package has an old build system, it is possible that it
will need build system changes for it to be able to autoreconf with
a current version of automake. If so, those changes should be
forwarded upstream. See `info automake Upgrading` or
https://www.gnu.org/software/automake/manual/html_node/Upgrading.html
for details. automake 1.15 was released in 2014 and is now widespread,
so most upstreams will probably not object to a dependency on
versions >= 1.15 at this point.

If automake1.11 is removed from Debian, this bug will become serious
(release-critical), since the Debian buildd infrastructure would be
unable to satisfy this package's build-dependencies. As far as I am
aware, there are no immediate plans to remove automake1.11.

Thanks,
S
