Not able to get any info. on these packages after upgrading to sid

Bug#689525: vlc loses audio if I play, pause and play
Package: vlc Version: 2.0.3-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I get no audio if I play any media (video files) and do play, pause and then play. I have tried playing the same media across different players for e.g. dragon, totem etc. and this is the only one where I get such a behavior. vlc after pausing and replaying doesn't play audio
Hi all, I filed a bug for the above issue #689525 . Could somebody take a look at that and direct me as to what do I need to figure out in order to see/understand why it's behaving like that. All the other media players do NOT behave at all in the above manner. I like vlc for it's UI and other things. If possible please help me in nailing down the issue. If it's already reported or is a known issue or reported somewhere upstream a bug number of that would help in understanding the issue as well and see what else I can dig out. Looking forward to guidance. -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com 065C 6D79 A68C E7EA 52B3 8D70 950D 53FB 729A 8B17 ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Bug#735447: in vlc audio is sometimes there, sometimes not there
Rémi Denis-Courmont r...@remlab.net says :- PulseAudio keeps going into underflow. Do you hear any audio at all (with silences) or do you hear nothing? It seems like the PulseAudio daemon is acting up, but it could also be something wrong with the source file. Dear Remi, Thank you for following it up. This is not just with one source file but with many. The best way for me to reproduce this is to load any video media file in vlc, forward the media file sometime and then see pulseaudio lose the audio. This has been happening for months. I am on testing with all updates and still have the issue. P.S. :- For some reason the bts didn't tell me that somebody has responded to the bug hence NOW subscribing to my own bug report. I just got to my bug-report on the off-chance that there might be something I might have left out. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (600, 'testing'), (500, 'testing-updates'), (1, 'experimental'), (1, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.13-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_IN, LC_CTYPE=en_IN (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages pulseaudio depends on: ii adduser 3.113+nmu3 ii consolekit0.4.6-4 ii libasound21.0.27.2-3 ii libasound2-plugins1.0.27-2+b1 ii libc6 2.18-4 ii libcap2 1:2.22-1.2 ii libdbus-1-3 1.8.0-2 ii libfftw3-single3 3.3.3-7 ii libgcc1 1:4.8.2-16 ii libice6 2:1.0.8-2 ii libltdl7 2.4.2-1.7 ii liborc-0.4-0 1:0.4.18-1 ii libpulse0 4.0-6+b1 ii libsamplerate00.1.8-7 ii libsm62:1.2.1-2 ii libsndfile1 1.0.25-9 ii libspeexdsp1 1.2~rc1.1-1 ii libstdc++64.8.2-16 ii libsystemd-login0 204-8 ii libtdb1 1.2.12-1 ii libudev1 204-8 ii libwebrtc-audio-processing-0 0.1-2 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.2-1 ii libx11-xcb1 2:1.6.2-1 ii libxcb1 1.10-2 ii libxtst6 2:1.2.2-1 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian12 ii udev 204-8 Versions of packages pulseaudio recommends: ii gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio 0.10.31-3+nmu2 ii pulseaudio-module-x11 4.0-6+b1 ii rtkit 0.10-3 Versions of packages pulseaudio suggests: pn paman none pn paprefs none pn pavucontrol none pn pavumeter none ii pulseaudio-utils 4.0-6+b1 -- no debconf information -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com 065C 6D79 A68C E7EA 52B3 8D70 950D 53FB 729A 8B17 ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Bug#767120: it's mate desktop
Hi Sebastian, Thank you for taking the time out and trying to get the bottom of this. i'm using mate desktop and don't think I'm using any custom config here. It seems I have to use the mate power manager sleep inhibit applet but even using that does not get it right. It seems there is some issue with mate power manager inhibit applet itself which they are not able to work it out (as of yet). Bug#815692: are you waiting for auto-libcdio transition to be finished before sharing 0.16 version ?
Dear Mateusz Łukasik, Are you waiting for the auto-libcdio transition to complete https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-libcdio.html before sharing 0.16 ? The main good changes are perhaps a little down :- Initial Android support dxva2: support HEVC Main 10 https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/releases That is from 0.16, I do see that 0.17 has also been released, we will be happy with 0.16 as it's an even release so probably more stable. While the initial android support would not hurt us (and would also help the android-developer group indirectly in debian) the HEVC Main 10 support should lower CPU overhead a bit if you are seeing a 10-bit HEVC movie right which is being used a lot more nowadays. -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com EB80 462B 08E1 A0DE A73A 2C2F 9F3D C7A4 E1C4 D2D8 ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Bug#833713: mpv new upstream version 0.18.1 and ffmpeg version compilation with it.
Package: mpv Version: 0.18.0-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, First of all a big thanx to the whole multimedia team for taking such good care of us (the users) for so many years and making life simpler for us. Now, I read #831537 and while the bug seems to have been fixed in the git repo. it is yet to flow down to us (i.e. the users). But more than that, a new upstream version has been launched by mpv.io with the following statement - "Note: Running mpv with different versions of the FFmpeg/Libav libraries than it was compiled with is no longer supported. Even supposedly ABI-compatible versions have been a source of trouble, and it creates far too much complexity with little to no benefit, coupled with absurd and unusable FFmpeg API artifacts. Instead, mpv will exit with an error when such a situation is detected. This simply means that mpv needs to be rebuilt whenever FFmpeg libraries change." https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/releases What this probably means in long-term that the multimedia team would have to either of these three things - a. Abandon mpv b. Maintain mpv independantly and use ffmpeg versions that we are comfortable with, OR lastly c. Move to a scenario where both ffmpeg and mpv are in sync with each other. The 3rd may not be possible as it would probably would mean more transition cycles and to deal with the fall-outs of rebuilding failures along with other things. The first option would be easiest but like many people, I have started using mpv more than any other media player so I would be sad to see it go, if that happens. The second option seems to be where we are now and at least for the short-term this is where we probably would be for sometime. People could use this bug as an excuse as what they see the roadmap in the next 6-8 months to a year in respect of mpv and the ffmpeg libraries. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (600, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'testing-debug'), (1, 'experimental-debug'), (1, 'experimental'), (1, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.6.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages mpv depends on: ii libasound2 1.1.1-2 ii libass5 0.13.2-1 ii libavcodec577:3.1.1-3 ii libavdevice57 7:3.1.1-3 ii libavfilter67:3.1.1-3 ii libavformat57 7:3.1.1-3 ii libavutil55 7:3.1.1-3 ii libbluray1 1:0.9.3-2 ii libc6 2.23-4 ii libcdio-cdda1 0.83-4.2+b1 ii libcdio-paranoia1 0.83-4.2+b1 ii libcdio13 0.83-4.2+b1 ii libdrm2 2.4.70-1 ii libdvdnav4 5.0.3-1 ii libdvdread4 5.0.3-1 ii libegl1-mesa [libegl1-x11] 11.2.2-1 ii libenca01.18-1 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1]11.2.2-1 ii libguess1 1.2-1.1 ii libjack0 [libjack-0.116]1:0.124.1+20140122git5013bed0-3 ii libjpeg62-turbo 1:1.5.0-1 ii liblcms2-2 2.7-1 ii liblua5.2-0 5.2.4-1 ii libpulse0 9.0-1.1 ii librubberband2 1.8.1-6+b1 ii libsdl2-2.0-0 2.0.4+dfsg2-1 ii libsndio6.1 1.1.0-2 ii libswresample2 7:3.1.1-3 ii libswscale4 7:3.1.1-3 ii libva-wayland1 1.7.1-2 ii libva-x11-1 1.7.1-2 ii libva1 1.7.1-2 ii libvdpau1 1.1.1-3 ii libwayland-client0 1.11.0-2 ii libwayland-cursor0 1.11.0-2 ii libwayland-egl1-mesa [libwayland-egl1] 11.2.2-1 ii libx11-62:1.6.3-1 ii libxext62:1.3.3-1 ii libxinerama12:1.1.3-1+b1 ii libxkbcommon0 0.5.0-1 ii libxrandr2 2:1.5.0-1 ii libxss1 1:1.2.2-1 ii libxv1 2:1.0.10-1+b1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-2+b1 Versions of packages mpv recommends: ii xdg-utils 1.1.1-1 ii youtube-dl 2016.06.25-1 mpv suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0

Consider fixing your graphics drivers, or not forcing the x11 VO. And this happens on different systems, one which needs and has the i965-va-driver and the other one which is a much more dated system. Dunno if this gives you any more clues or not. I am using mpv as my video player. -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com EB80 462B 08E1 A0DE A73A 2C2F 9F3D C7A4 E1C4 D2D8 ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Please provide a X.org log and > dmesg. > > Cheers Warning - Longish mail (a bit) Have provided Xorg.0.log from /var/log/X.org.0.log While I'm able to figure out and troubleshoot some parts and able to play the videos without the warnings. What had happened was - a. For some reason nvidia-* packages had occupied center-stage along with Intel. It took me sometime to realize that maybe because some laptops which are available today are 'hybrid' laptops which have both intel and nvidia graphics hence nvidia which usually had a breaks/replaces against intel was not there. How it came to be, I'm clueless still. b. I removed all instances of any nvidia package except for nvidia-installer-cleanup which depends on glx-diversions. c. Then rebooted the system and found it was flashing the monitor. d. Then rebooted into single user mode, found out mesa-vdpau-drivers was not installed, As I was in single-user-mode/recovery-mode had to take a usb disk, download mesa-vdpau-drivers, copied it to this machine and installed it via dpkg. e. Rebooted again and this time got the login page, saw couple of videos, the complain was no longer in the videos. So while on Xorg.0.log shouldn't have anything untoward now - I did see something Very strange on the dmesg front /home/shirish $ dmesg dmesg: read kernel buffer failed: Operation not permitted I was forced to become root and then was able to share dmesg.txt > -- > Sebastian Ramacher > -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com EB80 462B 08E1 A0DE A73A 2C2F 9F3D C7A4 E1C4 D2D8 [0.00] Linux version 4.8.0-2-amd64 (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 5.4.1 20161019 (Debian 5.4.1-3) ) #1 SMP Debian 4.8.11-1 (2016-12-02) [0.00] Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.8.0-2-amd64 root=UUID=aaafd0a1-62db-4216-80be-cf0dc016ac7c ro initrd=/install/initrd.gz ipv6.disable=1 init=/lib/systemd/systemd [0.00] x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x001: 'x87 floating point registers' [0.00] x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x002: 'SSE registers' [0.00] x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x004: 'AVX registers' [0.00] x86/fpu: xstate_offset[2]: 576, xstate_sizes[2]: 256 [0.00] x86/fpu: Enabled xstate features 0x7, context size is 832 bytes, using 'standard' format.
