Package: pulseaudio Version: 16.1+dfsg1-2+b1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
According to pactl manual page and PulseAudio release notes (https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/16.0/) pactl can show information in JSON format. Unfortunately, pactl regarding setting the format to json or text, it always shows information using the same format. For example, the commands: pactl -f json get-sink-volume @DEFAULT_SINK@ pactl -f text get-sink-volume @DEFAULT_SINK@ will produce the same output: Volume: front-left: 45180 / 69% / -9.69 dB, front-right: 45180 / 69% / -9.69 dB balance 0.00 My understanding is that when the format is set to json, the output should be something similar to: { "Volume": { "front-left": [ 45180, "69%", "-9.69 dB" ], "front-right": [ 45180, "69%", "-9.69 dB" ], "balance": "0.00" } } Thanks in advance, -kp -- Package-specific info: File '/etc/default/pulseaudio' does not exist -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.4.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages pulseaudio depends on: ii adduser 3.137 ii init-system-helpers 1.65.2 ii libasound2 1.2.9-1 ii libasound2-plugins 1.2.7.1-1+b1 ii libc6 2.37-7 ii libcap2 1:2.66-4 ii libdbus-1-3 1.14.8-2 ii libfftw3-single3 3.3.10-1 ii libgcc-s1 13.2.0-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.77.1-2 ii libgstreamer-plugins-base1.0-0 1.22.4-1 ii libgstreamer1.0-0 1.22.4-1 ii libice6 2:1.0.10-1 ii libltdl7 2.4.7-7 ii liborc-0.4-0 1:0.4.34-3 ii libpulse0 16.1+dfsg1-2+b1 ii libsm6 2:1.2.3-1 ii libsndfile1 1.2.0-1 ii libsoxr0 0.1.3-4 ii libspeexdsp1 1.2.1-1 ii libstdc++6 13.2.0-1 ii libsystemd0 254-1 ii libtdb1 1.4.9-2 ii libudev1 254-1 ii libwebrtc-audio-processing1 0.3-1+b1 ii libwrap0 7.6.q-32 ii libx11-6 2:1.8.6-1 ii libx11-xcb1 2:1.8.6-1 ii libxcb1 1.15-1 ii libxtst6 2:1.2.3-1.1 ii pulseaudio-utils 16.1+dfsg1-2+b1 ii sysvinit-utils [lsb-base] 3.07-1 Versions of packages pulseaudio recommends: ii dbus-user-session 1.14.8-2 ii libpam-systemd [logind] 254-1 pn rtkit <none> Versions of packages pulseaudio suggests: pn paprefs <none> ii pavucontrol 5.0-2 pn pavumeter <none> ii udev 254-1 -- no debconf information
