[Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#517548: orage: Import shouldn't duplicate events with the same UID

2009-02-28 Thread Luca Niccoli
Package: orage
Version: 4.5.14.0-1
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

If you import a calendar file in orage that contains copies of events already
in the main orage file, these events get duplicated.
(I.e., if you copy you orage file and import it, I have two copies of every
event, all identical pairwise)
This is very annoying if you are using orage on different computers and you
want to keep the calendar synchronized.
When Orage meets a UID it already knows, it should check the LAST-MODIFIED
field, and pick the entry which was most recently modified.
Cheers,

Luca

Currently /etc/menu-methods/xfdesktop4.menu-method only generates one
version of the Debian menus for XFCE. Please generate all available
languages, the way that menu-xdg does for the Gnome and KDE desktops.
(Ideally you would use the same menu method rather than a special one
for XFCE, but I don't know if this is possible.)

(There is some related discussion in bug #37716.)

Hi,
some removable media cannot be unmounted from Thunar. Option Unmount
is missing, there is only option Eject.
But for some removable media, like external HDD or non-USB card reader, it
is wrong (it ends with error message An unknown error occured without
unmount), for some removable media, like PNA Tomtom or cellphone
SonyEricsson os possible both, Unmount and Eject, but only after Eject
is device restarting to normal state, for some removable media like
USB flashdiscs it do almost same action and on some media like USB card
readers probably should be Eject for whole card reader and Unmount only
for inserted card.

lshal from some removable medias (in Thunar have only Eject option now).
Because it is big, I put here only links for them:
http://www.kmarty.bluetone.cz/tst/thunar/can_be_unmounted_or_ejected/feiya_flashdisk_over_usb.lshal

http://www.kmarty.bluetone.cz/tst/thunar/eject_affects_different_device_than_drive_itself/usb_card_reader_without_card.lshal

As temporary workaround, I removed whole part /* append the Unmount Volume
menu item */ (in thunar-shortcuts-view.c and thunar-tree-view.c) from else
statement and put it them directly to show this menuitem for every removable
media.

when a plugin is removed from the panel, the associated process for that
plugin will remain active, but in a defunct state. as an example, i added
the verve, cpufreq, and battery plugins to the xfce panel, then removed
them all. you can see that all those processes are now defunct.

$ ps -A | grep xfce4
 3320 ?00:00:00 xfce4-session
 3328 ?00:00:22 xfce4-panel
 3336 ?00:00:18 xfce4-menu-plug
 3337 ?00:00:01 xfce4-verve-plu defunct
 3338 ?00:02:10 xfce4-cpufreq-p defunct
 3339 ?00:04:24 xfce4-battery-p defunct
 3340 ?00:00:47 xfce4-cpugraph-
 3342 ?00:00:15 xfce4-mixer-plu
 3349 ?00:01:09 xfce4-terminal

i think processes should be closed when the plugins are removed.

thanks for the hard work.

[ad nauseam]

Apparently, thunar crawled /proc in a futile attempt to fetch that
user.mime_type attribute from every file it finds there. Because
thunar becomes unresponsive for lengthy periods of time, it becomes
quite unresponsive.

Package: thunar
Version: 0.8.0-5
Severity: normal

Hello!

I'm using Thunar in the View View as Detailed List.
When deleting a file thunar does not save the position where the file was.
(The other views know the position after deleting files)

Example for a directory-Contents:

folder_X
   |-file_A
   |-file_B
   |-file_C
   |-file_D
   |-file_E

If I highlight 'file_C' and delete it in Thunar and then I press an
arrow key thunar jumps to 'file_A' instead of jumping to 'file_D'.

The bug was already discussed in here:

If you create a new file or launcher on the desktop, it won't be shown
unless you hit F5. Same when you download a file to the Desktop.

This can be easily fixed by installing the package fam, and adding
users to the haldaemon group. Maybe this package could be added as a
dependency to xfce4. The fam daemon uses very little resources.

Package: xfce4-session
Version: 4.4.2-6
Severity: minor

If /usr/games is not in the $PATH, as it is not for root, then xfce4-tips
does not work.

If root logs in to a newly installed machine then xfce4-tips runs automatically
and it is somewhat disconcerting to have a blank tip window displayed.

Running xfce4-tips from a terminal shows the problem:

sh: fortune: command not found

Shouldn't xfce4-tips explicity either set the PATH or call /usr/games/fortune
rather than just fortune when its calling a program that may very well not be
in the user's $PATH?

If you need more info let me know.

HTH

Alexis

Hi,

it's currently not possible to minimize empathy to tray. When clicking on the
tray icon, the “minimize” button disappears from the titlebar, but the window
stays opened.

Cheers,

Package: xfdesktop4
Version: 4.4.2-7
Severity: normal

Hi,
i'm fond of xfce AND openarena, and since latest debian version
(4.4.2-7),
screen stays black when i exit openarena.
How to reproduce : launch openarena, then quit.
Symptoms :
- black screen
- mouse cursor visible
- right-click shows xfce menu, but without background refresh
- panels react, but are invisible and launched apps are not visible
either
- when disconnecting x session, black screen disappears and for a split
second windows are visible, just before x shuts down.
It seems that bug is triggered with by a recent xfdesktop4 update, but i
could be wrong. I guess it's not an openarena bug, because it is not
triggered with gnome or kde sessions.
I have trouble reverting to previous xfdesktop4 unstable package, is
there a way to get it, or to get the corresponding source package ? (i
emptied my package cache since then).

1. Run mousepad and go to the save as dialog.
2. Click the browse for other folders expander. This changes the dialog from
a fixed size window to resizeable.
3. Maximize the window.
4. Click the expander again. The window changes to fixed size again, but
because it was maximized, XFWM starts doing something strange. The window is
placed in the top right corner of the screen, drawn without decoration, and
can only be moved downward (!).

Package: xfwm4
Version: 4.4.1-3

I'm developing CellWriter, a handwriting recognition input panel. When
the main window is resized, I need the frame to resize upwards rather
than downwards. The FreeDesktop window manager specification allows this
with the win_gravity hint (which can be set with
gtk_window_set_geometry_hints).

From the specification
(http://standards.freedesktop.org/wm-spec/1.4/ar01s09.html):
If an Application requests just a new size, its reference point does
not move. So for example if client window has win_gravity
SouthEastGravity and is resized, the bottom right corner of its frame
will not move but instead the top left corner will be adjusted by the
 difference in size.

XFWM4 does not respect this hint correctly but instead seems to move the
reference point when it is set. The window is still resized in the
bottom-right direction. The win_gravity hint has no relation to the
window gravity set with gtk_window_set_gravity.

Metacity respects this hint correctly.

Package: xfce4-verve-plugin
Version: 0.3.5-2
Severity: important

Hi,

using Alt+F12 for verve focus, if I try to focus it when xfce4 is
starting up (when I see the panel and the verve plugin), and then launch
a terminal from there (with Ctrl+Enter), the plugin suddenly disappears
(after having popped up a terminal), with that line in .xsession-errors:
| ** (xfce4-panel:29992): CRITICAL **: Un élément a été inopinément supprimé:
Ligne de commande Verve.

(An element got suddenly removed: …, I guess.)

It's then needed to manually re-add it afterwards.

Cheers,

Package: orage
Version: 4.5.14.0-1
Severity: wishlist

I recompiled adding in debian/rules --enable-dbus and orage gets dbus support.

In configure script says it is by default, but I had to do it.

Now orage -a ~/file.ics works !

Thanks you

[Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#517020: Bug#517020: Bug#517020: thunar: potential exploits via application launchers

On Wed, 25 Feb 2009 09:12:29 +0100 Yves-Alexis Perez wrote:
No, and you perfectly now that. I'm not sure the severity is “grave”,
but you purposely put this tag, forbidding any thunar migration in
squeeze for the ongoing 4.6 release. (wow, this issue must really ease
 release-time job… or not?)

as the package maintainer, you have the right (and responsibility) to
override the reported severity rating if you disagree with the
submitter (although if that's the case, i think that there is a problem
with debian's documentation [1] since it appears to indicate that any
and all security holes are to be reported as grave).

other than that, i think your justification makes sense, and i will not
object if you wish to downgrade the severity to important.

i do not wish to be the cause of blocking your 4.6 transition.

best wishes,
mike
