[Plplot-devel] PLplot 5.7.2 is now available

2007-01-21 Thread hbabcockos1

Hello,

PLplot 5.7.2 is now available at SourceForge. This is the second
official (development) version of PLplot that uses the new cmake
build system. Please note that version 2.4.5 or greater of cmake is
now required. Important improvements include better support for
Windows programming environments, a new pdf driver, updated examples
and improved text rendering for the gd and wingcc drivers. As always
(1) Please refer to our wiki for the latest build and install
instructions (http://www.miscdebris.net/plplot_wiki/index.php?
title=Main_Page) and (2) Let us know of any problems / bugs that you
run across while installing / using PLplot.

best,
-Hazen

Re: [Plplot-devel] PLplot 5.7.2 is now available

2007-01-21 Thread Alan W. Irwin
Hi Hazen:

I have downloaded plplot-5.7.2.tar.gz, checked its signature, built it,
tested both the build tree and install tree examples. All seems well on both
Debian stable and Ubuntu Dapper except for the same issue recently reported
by Werner for MinGW; for both examples 7 and 23 on Ubuntu -dev psttfc gives
the following error message:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
   what():  Error returned from FT_Load_Glyph
Aborted

Debian standard does not have these errors nor does -dev png on Ubuntu
(which eliminates missing fonts or something wrong with libfreetype [used by
both devices] as the cause). Does anybody else see this issue?

Hazen, there seems to be a lot of interest in these development releases.
Your previous effort (5.7.1) resulted in 1000+ downloads in two months.

Thanks for your continuing release efforts.

Alan

and so on. Since I don't have access to any fortran compiler in question
I would ask Arjen to check these patches and apply them if applicable.

I have not had the opportunity yet, but I will look into this ASAP.

Arjen
