Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC - No Stream

2008-04-08 Thread liffy99

Aghh - going round in circles here !

I've tried editing some of the router settings but now whenever I try
to save those settings I get the mesage Cannot access the wireless
network. Looks like my wireless network is disabled but how do I tell
/ correct it.

Should I be looking in Windows XP control panel (when I try to repair
I just get an unable to find wireless network message). Re-running the
Wireless Network setup just hits the same brickwall.

Help . . . .

Just gave it a try and it ran fine after updating files. (thanks for the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezecenter : Logging played tracks

2008-04-08 Thread relen

Try as I might, I couldn't get NowPlaying to work with 7.0.0 (Mac,
10.4.11). I cleaned everything out and reinstalled utterly clean, to no
avail. I can't see any error messages in the logging or anything, it's
as if it doesn't exist. Alien BBC installed in the same Plugins
location comes up apparently fine.

I've downgraded to 6.5.4 and reinstalled the 6.5 version of NowPlaying
and all is well.

Any tips on how to get this working would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC - No Stream

2008-04-08 Thread bpa

If you have been editing router settings - you may have disabled
wireless on the router in some way - then no amount of repair on XP
will fix it - it needs to be fixed by router settings.

You have to check whether the wireless is disabled/inaccessible or not.
If there are other devices still using the wireless OK - the problem is
on your PC. If Wireless is disabled or somehow no device can use it -
then go back to router settings. Also, when doing changes on a
wireless router - it is better to do it from a PC with a wired
connection to the router.

A word of caution albeit a bit late. When you have system problems
work on one area/component at a time - don't change items in multiple
components as you may introduce other problems.

Thats fine in that case!

Also, one other question, any way it can set the Alarm icon on the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 0.9 Beta forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-04-08 Thread ceejayemm

Michael

I am getting exactly the same problem as your other users. I am using
FreeNAS 0.69.3072 Full Installation, your latest SlimNAS install
scripts and the SC 7.0.1 NB 17914. During the installation SlimNAS
will start up correctly but on a reboot of FreeNAS it fails to start.
I have checked your previous comments about running Perl etc and cannot
see a problem here. Out of desperation I took the startup command line
and ran it from a console session, here's what happened:

freenas:~# usr/local/bin/php -f
/mnt/Disk1/slimnas/usr/www/services_slimserver_init.php
usr/local/bin/php: Command not found.

If I check the directory for php it is there:

freenas:~# ls -lrt /usr/local/bin/php
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel 3162956 Mar 24 09:01 /usr/local/bin/php

However services_slimserver.php from the same directory does run (with
errors) but it does at least try to run:

freenas:~# /usr/local/bin/php -f
/mnt/Disk1/slimnas/usr/www/services_slimserver.php

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare slimserver_configure() (previously
declared in
/mnt/Disk1/slimnas/usr/www/functions.inc:3) in
/usr/local/www/ext/slimserver/functions.inc on line 13

A full list of /mnt/Disk1/slimnas/usr/www gives:

freenas:~# ls -lrt /mnt/Disk1/slimnas/usr/www
total 34
-rwxrwxrwx 1 www wheel 201 Jan 23 2007

drwxrwxrwx 3 www wheel 512 Mar 27 13:10 par-www

Does this help at all ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 0.9 Beta forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-04-08 Thread Michael Herger
I'm really sorry: it just works for me.

- downloaded FreeNAS-i386-liveCD-0.686.3.3011.iso
- did an embedded install on a clean system without any previous install
- created a /mnt/slimnas share (SMB)
- copied the files from my site plus squeezecenter-7.0.1-18530-noCPAN.tgz to
that share
- run /bin/sh /mnt/slimnas/slimnas-install.sh
- went to the web interface, told it to install the above SC version
- enabled the service
- SC was up and running within 10 minutes
- rebooted the system, just to be sure
- SC was back up after a minute

What's so different from my approach to what you're experiencing?

I then tried the same procedure with a FreeNAS _full_ install. And I have to
admit that it wouldn't start SC automatically after a reboot. Though starting
it manually does work without any further issue. I'll have to investigate this
case (I had never done a full install before).

But no problems with empty folders, corrupted files, SC not starting at all.

So... are all of you who are seeing issues with the SlimNAS install using a
FreeNAS full installation? If not: how much memory do you have? How much
space left on the share you're trying to install SlimNAS on?

I am getting exactly the same problem as your other users. I am using

Does work for me.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 0.9 Beta forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-04-08 Thread Michael Herger
About copying the files: Wouldn't it be enough to ensure that
/usr/local/www/ext/slimserver exists, and then run everything from
 /mnt/.../slimnas/usr/www?

FreeNAS web server won't allow this. But never mind about it: those files weigh
a few kB, no more. And nobody should have to tinker with them anyway, the
system should just work. If it doesn't, then this is the real issue to solve,
not the fact that a few files have to be copied around.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] NowPlaying plugin for SqueezeCenter

2008-04-08 Thread relen

I've been in communication with Max Spicer, author of the NowPlaying
plugin, about updating it for SqueezeCenter.

Not quite sure why I chose to do it via PMs, but the results are great,
as Max has done a new version, and the conversation is obviously of use
to other users, so I am reproducing it here. Kudos to Max for jumping
on this so fast!

Any known issues with NowPlaying under Squeezecenter 7.0.0?

Any suggestions? I need the thing to work as I use it to push stream

From Max Spicer:

Hi,

It probably doesn't work under 7.0 at the moment, I'm afraid. A lot of
api changes took place in 7 and I haven't had chance to update my
plugins accordingly. I'll do my best to get this done as soon as
possible. If you're able to help, patches would be very welcome. Thanks
for the reminder, by the way. It's always good to hear that someone is
using my plugins!

Thanks,

Max

===

From Richard Elen:

Good morning! Thanks for the speedy reply!

Yes, NowPlaying is a valuable part of my broadcast chain. I use
SlimServer to broadcast unattended daily playlists, when we are not
doing live shows, and use NowPlaying to write a file, NowPlaying.txt,
in NiceCast's Application Support directory, containing Title: ARTIST -
TITLE. Nicecast picks this up and sends it as metadata to our streaming
server for display to listeners to Radio Riel, and AmpTracker's
NowPlaying widget displays this on the web site - hence the rather
brief file contents: it does a lookup based on it and displays album
details if it finds the track/artist on Amazon (see
http://www.radioriel.org). I'm one of about a dozen presenters from
around the world who take the stream.

I stripped out the entire installation and went back to 6.5.4 for the
time being, and I'm back on the air.

Thanks for an extremely useful plugin!

Best,
--Richard E

===

Hey, nice to see it being used for something genuinely useful! I've
just made the necessary changes to make this work with 7.0 and uploaded
this to my website. If you're able to test, I'd really appreciate it if
you could give it a go and let me know how you get on.

There's no reason why this discussion couldn't take place on the
forums, by the way.

Cheers,

Max

PS A credit somewhere would be nice... :-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] NowPlaying plugin for SqueezeCenter

2008-04-08 Thread relen

Max's NowPlaying plugin page is at:
http://www.thespicers.net/nowPlaying.html

Hi, Max... Thanks for this! I am tied up today and at a conference the
rest of the week, so I will not be able to test this until the weekend,
as I have to do a complete removal; of the existing version and a clean
install. However I'll test it as soon as I can.

I VERY much appreciate you doing this and I hope plenty of other users
will try it out too.

As far as a credit is concerned, I am only one of several people who do
the on-air work and I'm the only one using Slimserver, although I have
an article on our private group forum about how to use Slimserver the
way I am, and that DOES give you a credit, albeit an internal one.

I'll see what else can be done.

Yes, that's how the regular alarm works, but the code that does this is
specific to the internal alarm. The extended alarm plugin does provide an
