Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC - No Stream
Aghh - going round in circles here ! I've tried editing some of the router settings but now whenever I try to save those settings I get the mesage Cannot access the wireless network. Looks like my wireless network is disabled but how do I tell / correct it. Should I be looking in Windows XP control panel (when I try to repair I just get an unable to find wireless network message). Re-running the Wireless Network setup just hits the same brickwall. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezecenter : Logging played tracks
Try as I might, I couldn't get NowPlaying to work with 7.0.0 (Mac, 10.4.11). I cleaned everything out and reinstalled utterly clean, to no avail. I can't see any error messages in the logging or anything, it's as if it doesn't exist. Alien BBC installed in the same Plugins location comes up apparently fine. I've downgraded to 6.5.4 and reinstalled the 6.5 version of NowPlaying and all is well. Any tips on how to get this working would be gratefully received. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC - No Stream
If you have been editing router settings - you may have disabled wireless on the router in some way - then no amount of repair on XP will fix it - it needs to be fixed by router settings. You have to check whether the wireless is disabled/inaccessible or not. If there are other devices still using the wireless OK - the problem is on your PC. If Wireless is disabled or somehow no device can use it - then go back to router settings. Also, when doing changes on a wireless router - it is better to do it from a PC with a wired connection to the router. A word of caution albeit a bit late. When you have system problems work on one area/component at a time - don't change items in multiple components as you may introduce other problems. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45632 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Michael I am getting exactly the same problem as your other users. I am using FreeNAS 0.69.3072 Full Installation, your latest SlimNAS install scripts and the SC 7.0.1 NB 17914. During the installation SlimNAS will start up correctly but on a reboot of FreeNAS it fails to start. I have checked your previous comments about running Perl etc and cannot see a problem here. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 0.9 Beta forSqueezeCenter 7.0
About copying the files: Wouldn't it be enough to ensure that /usr/local/www/ext/slimserver exists, and then run everything from /mnt/.../slimnas/usr/www? FreeNAS web server won't allow this. But never mind about it: those files weigh a few kB, no more. And nobody should have to tinker with them anyway, the system should just work. [SlimDevices: Plugins] NowPlaying plugin for SqueezeCenter
I've been in communication with Max Spicer, author of the NowPlaying plugin, about updating it for SqueezeCenter. Not quite sure why I chose to do it via PMs, but the results are great, as Max has done a new version, and the conversation is obviously of use to other users, so I am reproducing it here. Kudos to Max for jumping on this so fast! --Richard E === Any known issues with NowPlaying under Squeezecenter 7.0.0? === Originally Posted by relen: Hi... I need the thing to work as I use it to push stream metadata into a place NiceCast can find it for net broadcast streaming. Any suggestions gratefully received! Best, --Richard Elen === From Max Spicer: Hi, It probably doesn't work under 7.0 at the moment, I'm afraid. A lot of api changes took place in 7 and I haven't had chance to update my plugins accordingly. I'll do my best to get this done as soon as possible. If you're able to help, patches would be very welcome. Thanks for the reminder, by the way. It's always good to hear that someone is using my plugins! Thanks, Max === From Richard Elen: Good morning! Thanks for the speedy reply! Yes, NowPlaying is a valuable part of my broadcast chain. I use SlimServer to broadcast unattended daily playlists, when we are not doing live shows, and use NowPlaying to write a file, NowPlaying.txt, in NiceCast's Application Support directory, containing Title: ARTIST - TITLE. Nicecast picks this up and sends it as metadata to our streaming server for display to listeners to Radio Riel, and AmpTracker's NowPlaying widget displays this on the web site - hence the rather brief file contents: it does a lookup based on it and displays album details if it finds the track/artist on Amazon (see http://www.radioriel.org). I'm one of about a dozen presenters from around the world who take the stream. I stripped out the entire installation and went back to 6.5.4 for the time being, and I'm back on the air. Thanks for an extremely useful plugin! Best, --Richard E === Hey, nice to see it being used for something genuinely useful! I've just made the necessary changes to make this work with 7.0 and uploaded this to my website. If you're able to test, I'd really appreciate it if you could give it a go and let me know how you get on. There's no reason why this discussion couldn't take place on the forums, by the way. I am tied up today and at a conference the rest of the week, so I will not be able to test this until the weekend, as I have to do a complete removal; of the existing version and a clean install. However I'll test it as soon as I can. I VERY much appreciate you doing this and I hope plenty of other users will try it out too.
