I hadn't - more from lack of awareness than anything else. I'm not
emotionally attached to WeatherTime, beyond liking the functionality,
which it looks like SuperDateTime exceeds anyway. I'll happily give
that a whirl instead if it will resolve the problem.

No problem. Might be worth mentioning this on your plugin page though,
as there are a couple of us who have tripped over it now :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2008-10-14 Thread jakes

hi, I'm having celsius/fahrenheit display issues. I've just upgraded to
SC7.2 and as a result had to update my SDT version. I installed the
latest version of the plugin (5.7.0). I had to do the fontcache delete
thing because the lines on the display were overlapping. This fixed
that problem. I also went into the superdatetime.prefs file and changed
all instances of %_5/%_7 to %_6/%_8 as the instructions earlier in the
thread indicated it was necessary to do (and which had worked on the
earlier installation of SDT) to get the 10 day forecast to display in
C. This was successful in changing 10 day forecasts to C.
Unfortunately, the current temp is still displaying in F. I don't know
how to change this. I feel like I'm missing something really simple,
but I can't find any explanation of the variables in the prefs file,
and there doesn't seem to be anywhere in the Squeezecenter plugin prefs
page to change the display (there is the Long Weather Forecast Display
section which I've changed from F to C, but that doesn't alter the
format of the currently displayed temp). There are no other weather
related options within the Squeezecenter config page that I can see
that appear relevant. There's just the field where you indicate your
location and a 'weather underground' field.
Basically, my question is what do I change to display the current temp
in degrees C? I realise I've probably missed something really
straightforward, but would very much appreciate it if someone could
point out what I need to do - I have no idea whether 61F is hot or cold
:)
Thanks very much.

I am an XM subscriber, but didn't (don't?) understand how it
acknowledges your subscription based on just pointing to a URL. I

So turning the logic around, a SqueezeCenter plug-in could register
itself as a SideShow device and also be the screensaver when
playing/stopped/off.

Then the SideShow Gadgets could be bound to the "device" and their
information appear on SB3 or TP, whenever the screensaver kicked in.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Lyrics Plugin - thanks and question

2008-10-14 Thread Hangleton

Hi all,

I really really like the lyrics plugin. It was good in the web
interface, but now I have a Squeezebox controller, I'm really enjoying
it.

I can't see an answer to this anywhere in the documentation I can find
though...

When listing possible matches on the SBC, each match is marked 'k' or
'n' .. 'k' first then 'n'.

Seems to me that the first n is usually the correct one in my setup.

What do 'k' and 'n' mean? Why is 'k' first?

Just curious..

Thanks again for a great little plugin, much appreciated.

Regards,

Andy

uncompressed the plugin to the plugin directory (removed

generally works again but the problem with a not-always-updating X

setting plugin.musicinfoscr to debug logs "Initializing MIS font cache"

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: XM Radio Plugin 1.0 (with Skins)

2008-10-14 Thread jerrberr

Howard,

You can select XM stations with your IR remote and on any SB with a
display. You can either manually tune in an XM station, or set up a
list of favorites. This is what I have done.

If you set up a list of favorites, you can even access them with the
Duet controller. I've even gone as far as to create a new instance of
the favorites/myradio OPML plugin, and have the list of XM channels
show up on the Duet controller under a nice XM logo.

To me, the problem is that you can only have one SB (or other client
such as a PC browser player) logged in to your XM account at any one
time. This means no syncing between multiple players. This isn't an
problem with the XMPlugin, but with the XM Online service. (I think -
I'm new to both XM and Squeezecenter, so I'm not sure if you are able
to connect more than one client to your XM account at a time. I have
not tested this with multiple PC clients, only with a PC client and a
SB.)

There is one serious issue with XM login/logout on the current
XMPlugin. There is no way to log out another player from your current
player with the IR remote, or from the Duet controller, only from the
web interface. It works like this: Assume you are playing an XM stream
in the Kitchen, but then decide to move to the Living Room. Since XM
doesn't allow you to have more than one client logged in to the XM
Online account at a time, you have to logout the Kitchen SB from XM
before starting an XM stream in the Living Room. (In my experience, XM
login happens automatically when starting a stream. There is no need to
log in a SB before starting a stream if there are no other clients
logged in.) Another less serious issue is that song information doesn't
display, but I don't really care about that. All I want to be able to do
is play a stream from any SB, and not have to log out the previous SB
from XM. Baby steps.

What I am now trying to do is to port the login/logout interface from
the current .html plugin to a .pm plugin that works for the Duet
controller. I'm not sure if there is some source code missing from the
package or not, and PhilF hasn't contacted me yet. I don't understand
how he gets the player MAC address, or where the .pm files are that the
current .html plugin accesses.

What I'll probably end up doing is to have a have a settings page for
my new plugin where you specify the MAC addresses for all of your SB.
Then when you attempt to play an XM stream, the first thing that
happens is that it runs through the list of MAC adddresses, and logs
out all of the SB that *might* be logged in to XM. Once all of them are
logged out, it is safe to open the new stream on the current player.

I've attached my myradio.opml. I only have XM stations in here, so you
should cut/paste the XM portions from my file into your myradio.opml
file if you have your own settings. This file includes all stations
that XM broadcasts, even those that don't come through XM Radio Online,
so most all of the Sports doesn't work, several of the Comedy and News
do not work, and even some of the music stations as well. I'll leave it
to someone else to post an edited file with those unsupported stations
stripped out.

thanks for response. The question is exactly this: does anyone have
squeezeslave working on linux that shows more devices than just
/dev/dsp0.

Any alsa trick to put device on /dev/dsp6 to /dev/dsp0 ? I've tried to
use dsp_map and adsp_map for snd-pcm-oss with no success... I basically
need to do two things: one is to disable main sound card to make oss

/dev/dsp0

Anyone can help ?

Thanks in advance,

My archlinux system only shows /dev/dsp0 using the oss alsa module as
well, but on windows I see many devices, which I can choose with the -o
cli option.

C:\Program Files\Squeezeslave>squeezeslave -r 15 -s -o 2
Output devices:
0: Primary Sound Driver
1: Realtek HD Audio output
2: Logitech USB Headset
3: Primary Sound Capture Driver
4: Realtek HD Audio Input
5: Logitech USB Headset
PortAudio on DirectSound - Latency = 5376 frames, 121 msec

You'll need to find a way to make /dev/dsp6 available through the alsa
oss module to be able to use it with ss.

First, as always, thank you for your work on SDT.

For some of us, switching to Sirius means we'd be trashing equipment as
well as moving accounts and losing money in subscription fees. For me
that's not remotely practical and I really get everything I want out of
XM. Most important to me is a couple of the stations I really like have
grown on me like a comfortable pair of old shoes. For now I can put
single stations in favorites, but it would be nice if the original plug
in worked. Then I could use my remote or controller to pick stations
and play them. I'm not suggesting you pick up the torch and Logitech
is saying they don't have a relationship with XM. Then they say XM and
Sirius are the same thing(merged). Logic says if they are the same
thing, then you do have a relationship. I'm not getting on Logitech
(maybe a wee bit), but believe it or not my original interest in the
DUET was because all of the blurbs I read mentioned it working with
XM.

Have a great day

0: /dev/dsp

it works...

if I specify to use /dev/dsp6 it just says invalid card ID

squeezeslave -m 00:00:00:00:00:01 --volume off -O -o 6 -r -s
192.168.0.1
Output devices:
0: /dev/dsp
output_thread: PortAudio error1: Invalid device ID.

I'd kindly ask for some advice ? How can I check what is present on
/dev/dsp6? Can squeezeslave work on /dev/dsp6 or is somehow limited

Thanks in advance,

regards...

Argh... forgot about the packaging... It's probably easier to unpack that file
and use the raw files. Just make sure you have
Plugins/MusicInfoSCR/lib/Plugins/MusicInfoSCR/Plugin.pm and the others.
