Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunesUpdate when running SC as a service

Correct on all points.

It's a lot easier to not run SC as a service now, so no big deal for most use
cases.

Really?? It hasn't worked for anyone since xm changed their setup.
The fix was the one posted by brillo on accessing the channels by them
selves and saving to favorites. Maybe I'll try mine again.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browsing for Playlists

2008-11-04 Thread vram

The "browse by selected" mixer is great and solves alot of what I am
trying to accomplish. Thanks for the great tip!

With the mixer capability now I can just set up a couple of libraries
for the wife and kids so that browsing works easily for them (and I can
custom build the menus based on Erlands guide).

Which brings me to another question. Based on the info for
multi-library in the wiki I can create libraries based on directory
paths, genres, artists, comment tags, lossy/lossless, or all
include/exclude sub-libraries. Is it possible to create a library
based on a custom tag? When I looked at the wiki example for adding
custom tags, I would like to create a "libraries" tag with the format
"library 1; library 2; library 3; etc.".  As I mentioned before I
already use the comment field and also think this would make mass
tagging alot easier than having the library identifiers included with
comments.

Either way thanks for all the help!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mix not working with SqueezeCenter

2008-11-04 Thread Phil Meyer
I think what you have is okay. The SC scanner will follow link files, but it
will store the path to each source file found, so if you have pointed to the
same physical path as MusicIP reads the files through, that will match.

I actually made a change to the MusicIP plugin such that the plugin imports
MusicIP mixable status only into SC, and thus is a lot faster. It's also more
robust to issues with tagging incompatibilities between SC and MusicIP. I
suggest you try using this to see if you find the setup easier.

In the MusicIP settings (Settings > Advanced > MusicIP), there is an option
"Only read mixable status from MusicIP (faster)". Select that.

The way this works is that the SC scanner will read source file tags into its
library, and then ask Music IP for each file whether the song is mixable.

With the old way, the SC scanner will read source file tags, and then read all
information from Music IP and merge it into the SC library. This can cause
duplicates, tagging issues, and is very slow.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mix not working with SqueezeCenter

2008-11-04 Thread SlimChances

That might be it. The file path for SqueezeCentre Music Folder is
C:\Squeezebox Music because that directs Squeezecentre to shortcuts to
two separate hard drives (my MP3 collection in one, my Flac in the
other)
. The file path in MusicIP is G:\Flac which only directs it to Flac. So
should MusicIP be directed to the shortcut C:\Squeezebox Music. I have
noticed that in the wiki it suggests leaving Music Folder in
Squeezecentre settings blank but this will mean I can't select via
music folder presumably which is my preference.
Sorry to be so thick in this but I have been trying for the last 2 days
to get this to work.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunesUpdate when running SC as a service

2008-11-04 Thread Phil Meyer
I remember in the past that someone said iTunesUpdate would not work when SC
was run as a service, because the process would not be able to invoke the
iTunes API in windows.

Would this still be the case? I'm wondering because my SC service talks fine
to my headless MusicIP service. Is it because this interface is via HTTP
requests, but SC->iTunes requires some other interface?

The filepath used my MusicIP for reading songs needs to be exactly the same as
the SqueezeCenter music library file path. If you have some external storage
device, are you using a UNC path for one application, and a drive letter for
the other?

When you do a scan, does it take a long time to do the MusicIP import scan step?

You can turn the MusicIP plugin trace logging to "Debug" and doing a full
rescan. The logging will be written to the scanner log. If there are problems
matching songs from MusicIP with the SC music library files, you may find
errors in this log that would help to identify the problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] No Five Live in AlienBBC?

2008-11-04 Thread RayistaGeoff

Many thanks to bpa for the workaround! I was having this problem too
and it solved it.

However, I just wanted to note that for UK listeners particularly, it
actually makes sense to use the workaround and *not* the WMA stream.
The WMA stream is the 'international' version, so for sporting events
like Premier League/Champions League football (which is just about the
only thing I want from 5 Live), you'll get the voice repeating "Due to
rights restrictions, we are unable to provide this coverage" or
whatever. If you use the workaround, you get the 'domestic' version.
(I assume you (or at least your ISP) has to be in the UK to get this,
of course.)

but I do not see the mm next to song titles and no playlists have been
generated using SugarCube. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have "archive analysis when tracks are analysed" checked but only
after the initial scan and validation as the box was greyed
out(unusable) before that.

No mm shown on songs either in My Folder or in My Library selections of
songs (at song level)

Open SuperDateTime/Plugin.pm. Search for the lines that contain
*hilo*, and change the hilo string assignment to *'High '* with *'Hi
'*, and the same for 'Low ', such as:

Code:

if ($wetData{$i}{'forecastType'} eq 'HIGH') {
$hilo = 'Hi ';
}
else {
$hilo = 'Lo ';
}

Also search for *LOW* in all caps; you'll find a substitution line:

Code:

  s/LOW/ LOW/;

Change that to:

Code:

  s/HIGH/Hi/;
  s/LOW/Lo/;

Then restart the server.

I know SlimRemote is not being developed anymore, but I like it, so I

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Adding Functionality to iTunes Update Plugin

2008-11-04 Thread Craig, James (IT)
The history file is always saved in the playlist directory. So if you're not
using that setting, just set it to wherever.
If you want to change the location to something else, you'll need to find where
that variable is actually used, and stop it from having the playlist folder
path added to it.

The .par file is really just a zip file. If you extract the files & structure
from within it, and remove it, SqueezeCentre will use the files instead, so
they can be modified locally.

# filename to save iTunes update data to
my $ITUNES_UPDATE_HIST_FILE = "iTunes_Hist.txt";

Woo! I figure I can just alter this line to point it towards a
location that my macbook can 'see' (my media share for example). The
problem is how do I rebuild the set of files so squeezecenter will
reload the plugin? I assume I have to rebuild the .par file??? Is
there a special tool to do this?

Thank you for the help, I'm so close!

I removed the bad plugin directory (the one with the version),
restarted SC, installed the plugin from scratch from the zip file,
restarted SC, made sure the plugin was enabled, and then went to the
preferences screen.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Adding Functionality to iTunes Update Plugin

2008-11-04 Thread Craig, James (IT)
I've put a new version on my web page that includes the script again.

I also added an option to enable the new 'bookmark' functionality (which
defaults to off) and attempt to reset the iTunes bookmark to zero when the
track is played in SlimServer.

Yes, if you
* install the plugin
* rename the .par file to .zip
* unzip it in place

the plugin should still work...
(Leave the .par file renamed or delete it, otherwise I'm not sure which version
gets used!)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Where is Classic FM?

2008-11-04 Thread Ramage

I use this url for Classic FM:
mms://mediasrv-the.musicradio.com/ClassicFM.

Might take a while to buffer so be patient. It's not on Alien, but you
can find it under
Internet Radio > RadioTime > Browse by Location > Europe > United
Kingdom > London > Classic FM 100.9 (Classical)
