Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trouble with MusicIP and SugarCube

2008-11-05 Thread raven22

When you use the latest sugarcube (1.7.1) you don't need the musicip
plugin anymore. I scanned all music from a windows machine, filed the
analysis to the tags and run musicip headless on my squeezecenterserver
machine (clarkconnect linux). That's it, runs very nice, you just need
to do the normal sc rescan after adding new music, and add the music to
musicip via the musicip html page.

I a new library template for this will be included with the next Custom

the Multi Library web interface. The new library template is called

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mix not working with SqueezeCenter

2008-11-05 Thread SlimChances

In SC, what path have you used in Settings > Basic Settings > Music
Folder.

"C:\Squeezebox Music"

This file contains 2 shortcuts to my F Drive -MP3 songs and G drive -
my Flac songs

MusicIP is pointed only to the Flac Folder in G Drive "G:\Flac"

Total songs seems to be the same in both GUI and server. The Gui
describes "Ready" songs as 12046 whereas the server is "Mixable
songs"11,065

SC Settings > Advanced > Music IP should be configured with your Music
IP headless server settings.

These do not seem to coincide . For example in the server it reads

Artist style scale is 1-10

In the SC Settings it reads
MusicIP Mix Style
How much like the artist style ( 0 = ignore (default), 200 = strict )

There is nothing in the SeeqPod API at present which allows access to
saved lists. I have contacted them in regards to this as I agree it
would be very handy to be able to access them via Squeezecenter.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] DVB Radio Add-on for Linux

2008-11-05 Thread f948lan

Hi all,

I've been lurking around using others good ideas for some time, so I
thought was time to return something.

Like a few others on these forums I've been looking to replace my
trusty WaveFinder DAB radio with DVB-T. A few advantages being:
- Better quality audio
- No more need for Win2k Virtual Machine just for DAB (I have a Linux
based squeezecenter)
- More stations (DAB has few stations in my area now)
- Lower power usage (both USB DVB-T stick vs WaveFinder and lower CPU
use)

I've seen a few people suggesting DVB-Shout, but I really wanted the
(DABBar like) ability to switch channels across multiplexes through
squeezecenter. Also setting up a shoutcast server just to serve a the
local squeezecenter seemed overkill.

So I have thrown together a perl based solution - dvbserver.pl
http://shed.interdog.co.uk/dvbserver.pl
As noted below, you will also need getstream from
http://silicon-verl.de/home/flo/projects/streaming/

It's not highly polished, but it works. Full details and instructions
are in the comments at the top of the perl, and copied below for
reference:

# Summary
# A simple HTTP server to stream audio from DVB-T stations on Linux
systems.
# The primary goal is to provide DVB Radio to squeezecenter from
Logitech (see http://www.slimdevices.com)
# Currently only supports DVB-T (my DVB-S revievers are dedicated to
mythtv!). Could be modified others.
#
# Changes
# Version 1.0 Graham Chapman - 6th November 2008
# First Release!
#
# Features
# - Uses a standard format (from dvbscan) channels.conf file
# - Automatically retunes when a channel from a different multiplex
is requested.
# - Stream multiple stations from one multiplex concurrently
# - Stream audio from TV channels or Radio (audio only) channels
# - Serves an HTML channel list linking to playlists (PLS Format) for
easy configuration of squeezecenter
#
# Streams a 44.1KHz, 16Bit Stereo WAV format, suited for use on same
host as squeezecenter server, where
# bandwidth is less important than CPU usage. Could be easily modified
to stream MP3 or FLAC is required.
#
# Requirements
# - Linux installation with working DVB-T Card
#   - Perl with IO::Socket support
# - getstream - available from:
http://silicon-verl.de/home/flo/projects/streaming/
# This must be available in the path of the user running
dvbserver.pl
# dvbserver.pl will automatically generate configuration files and
launch as required
# - mplayer - must be available in the path of the user running
dvbserver.pl
# - ps - must be available in the path of the user running
dvbserver.pl
# - killall - must be available in the path of the user running
dvbserver.pl
# - dvbscan style channels.conf file at /etc/dvbstream.conf
#
# Quick start
#
# 1) Edit the 'You may need to change these' section below, in
particular the DVB card ID (Default is 3!)
# 2) Use dvbscan to create a channel list at /etc/dvbserver.conf
(unless you changed the name below)
# 3) Check you have 'requirements' above
# 4) Launch dvbserver.pl
# 5) Point a web browser at http://yourhostnamehere:9001/
# 6) Either:
# Copy a single channel link and paste it into Squeezecenter,
Internet Radio, Tune In URL
#Or:
# Download a channel playlist and save in your Squeezecenter
playlists folder (remember to rescan playlists).
# 7) If you like it, add dvbserver.pl to your system startup init
scripts.
#
# In case of problems, use the -d switch to enable verbose output.
#
# Known Limitations
# - Only supports DVB-T at present
# - Long (15s) delay for stream to start - seems to be mplayer locking
on to DVB stream

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mix not working with SqueezeCenter

2008-11-05 Thread Phil Meyer
I'm a bit confused about where your music is stored, and what path you've
pointed SC and MusicIP at.

The application installation folder paths (C:\Program Files\...) is irrelevant.

In SC, what path have you used in Settings > Basic Settings > Music Folder.

I gather you are running Music IP in headless mode, and have scanned the same
music files into the MusicIP GUI. These have been validated, and the library
saved. You should then have Music IP headless server configured to read the
same Music IP libarary file, and when you query the library through the Music
IP Web UI, you should get exactly the same library statistics as using the
Music IP GUI.

SC Settings > Advanced > Music IP should be configured with your Music IP
headless server settings.

It sounds like your Music IP headless server isn't configured properly, if you
are getting 0 validated songs.
The MusicIP GUI should have a different port to the Music IP web server port,
to avoid conflicts.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mix not working with SqueezeCenter

Not sure if this is relevant-

1) MusicMagic Server the headless MusicIP resets songs to zero each
time I restart the computer even though if I run the GUI the songs are
all there from the start

2) MusicIP GUI works fine with slimserver.

I had hoped I could get my squeezebox to work with MusicIP without
having to go to the computer, but just through the remote. I am not
sure where I have gone wrong .
Would enabling the proxy make any difference and if so what do I put in
the fields in MUSICIP options/server?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trouble with MusicIP and SugarCube

2008-11-05 Thread ob_kook

I have been a longtime MusicIP user (from back when it was MMM), and
have my entire 61K song library analyzed. I was always a little put off
by the tweaking I had to do in order to get it all to place nicely
together, and pretty much resigned myself to making playlists in the
MIP Gui and sending them to SlimServer.

What joy I felt upon discovering how from SC there was a tighter
integration!

I downloaded SC 7.2.1, and installed MIP server. That was all pretty
good (aside from the nuisance of the re-scans, and how long the MIP
imports took...)

Then I saw Spicefly's SugarCube
(http://spicefly.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=61&Itemid=32)
and thought - there ya go! Talk about ease - cue up a single song and
let the journey begin! I also noted that there might be some issues
between SugarCube and MIP and I decided to disable MIP in SC. All good
so far.

So, after the requisite scanning, I had duplicates in my library
bringing the number of songs to 120K. But it still worked. After
listening for several hours, I decided that probably doing a scan by
clearing the library instead of only looking for new and changed music
out to clean up the database.

It did. It took forever, but it worked. EXCEPT...now SugarCube is not
working again. I've been looking all over the forums and find a lot of
bits and pieces, but nothing substantive.

I was thinking of upgrading to 7.3 nightly as I noted it may speed up
the MIP importing, and then re-enable that plugin, but that is just
grasping at straws, really.

Any ideas to help out would be appreciated!

Some info:
SC is installed on an XP virtual machine running on Vista Ultimate.
Vista box is home-baked Intel quadcore with 4GB RAM on a Gigabyte
mobo.
Music library is on a 1.6TB RAID5 disk set directly attached and shared
to the VM.
Players are Softsqueeze on the VISTA, and SB2 wirelessly attached and
synched.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: The Synchronizer 0.7

2008-11-05 Thread SoftPhill

Hi Eric, i have been playing around with this today. I have 4 players
and am using 7.2.1. I had 2 questions/observations for you

1. When you define the player sets do you have to have a master or can
you sync, say, the kitchen to the living room and the living room to
the kitchen?

2. I was hoping what would be the case with this plugin would be that a
user defined group would appear as a "phantom" player. So "Downstairs"
would be the master player interface but control 2 players
simultaneously and it would appear as a player in its own right.
I would be interested on your thoughts on whether point 2 would be
something others might want or whether it is a niche idea?

Cool plugin BTW, thanks for making it!

Yes I have both Music IP and Squeezecentre in my C Drive in the program
directory (C:\Program Files)

I just made port 10002 an exception in the Windows Firewall (both ADP

in firewall and it could be that,; I will check. My antivirus doesn't
appear to be the culprid ( I use ENod32).
Below are the actions that occurred when I opened localhost:10002

MusicMagic Server shows 0 Total Songs,Mixable Songs, Songs to Validate
when I open http://localhost:10002/server
If I Click on Add Music with the G:\Flac directory all these fill in
and.

Squeezecentre scans Directory , MusicIP Import, Playlist Scan, Merge
Various Artists,Database Cleanup #1&2,Database Optimize

MusicMagic Server eventually reads

Total songs 12,060
Mixable songs 11,065
Songs to validate 12,060

Library Stats in SC report

Total Tracks: 34,063

Total Albums: 3,474

Total Artists: 2,120

Total Genres: 126

Total Playing Time: 2472:51:03

but if I go into properties in each of my music drives it shows 44757(
17697 in G drive of Flac tunes and 27,060 in F Drive in MP3s) files
which doesn't jibe with 34,060

Is MusicIP installed on the same drive as Squeezecenter? Whilst your
files can be on a different drive, MusicIP needs to be running on the
same drive as Squeezecenter.

Otherwise, it looks as if the problem is that Squeezecenter cannot
access the MusicIP API at localhost (again, this suggests that the API
is not on the same machine as Squeezecenter). Do you have a firewall
or antivirus which could be blocking access to localhost?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Using Winamp with SC 7.2.1

2008-11-05 Thread manlypeeps

Hi,

I've been running SC with iTunes for some time now but want to try it
out with Winamp. The website tells me that SC can be used with Winamp
easily but I can't for the life of me see how I point SC at the Winamp
music and playlist folders.

Can anyone help me out? Do I have to use MusicIP?

Thanks v. much,

Steve

Hi Funkstar,

Now that you say that I've re-read it ("Listen from any computer using
an MP3 software player (Winamp or iTunes)"), I see what you mean.

Does that mean that I'm stuck with iTunes or MusicIP?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM can no longer log in

2008-11-05 Thread James2k

Ok, it finally worked for me, by following some of the recommendations
in this forum.

I removed Squeezecenter, (deleted the install folder manually after the
uninstaller) and copied the fix posted to this thread to plugins:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=353392&postcount=56

Finally worked!

Thanks eveeryone, especially to those who posted the fix.

What does it say about using it with WinAmp?

I'm pretty sure it means you can use WinAmp as a -player- for
SqueezeCenter by pointing winamp to
http://:9000/stream.mp3 and controling the playlist via
the SqueezeCenter web interface.

I have installed CS 7.2.1 and your plugin, I will see if this makes any
difference. If you think I should do the trace logging as you initially
recommended I will do that; where do I turn on the debug log?

Your plugin has this listed in settings:
Enables MusicIP as a source for music. This will fetch all songs from
MusicIP and update or create songs in SqueezeCenter. This is much
slower, especially when only scanning for new and changed songs. If
unticked, MusicIP will only be scanned to determine what songs are
mixable.
Read Song Data
I have left that unchecked is that correct?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeCenter 7.0 beta versions of my plugins

2008-11-05 Thread aeo12

Hi Erland-- I had to re-install Squeezecenter 7.2.1 yesterday after
something seemed to get corrupted during a power outage. I set aside
my server.prefs file and the Custom Browse and Custom Scan folders from
my Plugins file before deleting the old installation and re-installing.
After re-installing, I copied over these files and most all my settings
were restored, but not any of the Custom Browse settings and enabled
menus nor any of the Custom Scan settings. Are there additional files
I should have saved to preserve the Custom Browse and Custom Scan
settings?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat question

2008-11-05 Thread alanbb9

I like to browse using Trackstat via the player to select 'Least played
albums' and select from the 50 random albums shown.

Is there any way to also display the artist for each album via this
selection? (I have too many tagged 'Greatest Hits' or 'Best of' and
sometimes I just can't remember the artist associated with an album
name)

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC on 7.3 - no audio?

You need an updated RTSP.pm and possibly also a convert.conf file which
can be found in post 14 'here'

Most people seem to need both files but I have found the updated

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC on 7.3 - no audio?

2008-11-05 Thread ModelCitizen

Alien BBC has entirely stopped making any noise despite the streams
appearing to be playing OK.

SC Version: Version: 7.3 - 23752 @ Fri Oct 31 03:32:05 PDT 200
AlienBBC install.xml includes the line: 7.3
MPlayer test is fine.
I've reinstalled AlienBBC, but no change.

My file types are thus (and I've never ever touched them anyway):
RTSP
Flac - mplayer/flac
MP3 - mplayer/lame
WAV - mplayer

My server log (server logging set to debug) says this:

I couldn't say for certain as I've not tested it. I've tried it only on

OPML code as AlienBBC, RadioFeeds, etc.

Ah, you must be on an older version of SC. I think the change went into 7.2
(maybe the maintenance release 7.2.1).

If you don't want to upgrade SC, you could try my replacement MusicIP plugin,
which may work with older versions (might depend what SC version you are on).
