Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] custom browse plugin
The error message is a bit confusing, what you need to do is to point each of the directory settings in Custom Browse settings page to a empty directory. You will probably need to restart Squeezebox Server for the changes to take effect. I think "custom dir" is the one called "Browse configuration directory" but I'm not completely sure. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74033 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hello all. I've been happily using iPeng on my iPhone 3G for months now - using v1.2.1. I use it with two Logitech Squeezebox Duet receivers - one upstairs and one downstairs. I used the Duet Controller to synchronize the actions of both receivers so what I play on one system with also work on the 2nd system. Now, my wife got a new iPhone 3GS in October. We bought her iPeng as well so she could have the same capabilities as I do. During the holidays she could control her iPeng to do everything I could when either a) it was running the music library when my computer was on or b) the computer was off (or on) and mysqueezebox.com was chosen instead of the computer's music library. Furthermore, everything I could see on my iPhone 3G she could see on her iPhone 3GS. If I started a piece of music from my iPeng, she could launch her separately purchased iPeng and could "see" everything that I could see: artwork, the volume controls, the two receivers/players. She could pause what I started and I could start what she stopped. I think you get the point: everything worked seamlessly for both of us. Currently, however, my iPhone with iPeng can do everything but her iPhone and iPeng refuses to show either Logitech receiver or players. I don't know what has changed or what has caused this. I deleted the iPeng app from her iPhone and reinstalled it from iTunes. No good. I then deleted iPeng from the iPhone AND iTunes. I then re-downloaded iPeng for her and synched it with her iPhone again. I even did a forced restart of her iPhone after iPeng was back on the iPhone. Again, her app will not show either receiver/player no matter what I do. I am totally stumped and have no idea how to get her iPeng and iPhone to select our receivers/players. Her iPeng does "see" our music library. It also shows mysqueezebox.com. I can toggle back and forth between them but, again, no players are seen. Could one of you - or pippin - give me some guidance as to how to get back on track? Many thanks! Thanks for releasing your update to this plugin - it is most appreciated. Sorry if I sounded ungrateful - I was just trying to help, and I seem to be one of minority that use it with DynamicPlaylists. I realise that this part of your plugin was not really being maintained; I didn't want to make it sound like I thought it wasn't very good. @unique is used within commandCallback when processing a newsong event, and also getNextDynamicPlayListTracks. The code writes to the array, processes it, and then clears it. I was thinking that there could be some time between writing the array and clearing it, that some other player that is also processing a newsong/DynamicPlaylist event would be in contention with that data. However, if the server is all single-threaded (another player event not being processed until the first command callback has finished being processed), then I guess it's safe. In other cases, data from functions is returned and then passed them into other functions, rather than using a global variable, so I just thought at first glance that it looked like a problem. I've seen a few unexplained occurances in the past where it's stopped queuing up songs for no reason (pressing play on the same track then causes a new track to start), but that was with a previous version of the plugin. This is the first time I've looked at the code though (because I wanted to get DynamicPlaylist processing working again). I wasn't really looking for other issues, but it was just a passing thought when I was trying to understand how it worked, that it looked unsafe (could return the unique array instead of diditwork indicator - empty array=not worked). I haven't done a diff to see what changes I actually made in the end. I played around quite a bit with debug statement changes to understand how it worked (moved some code around, then moved it back!); I think the changes to get it to work were actually minimal. I've tried SugarCube in it's usual playback mode since making the changes, and it still seems to work, but haven't done extensive testing (eg. haven't looked to see if remembered tracks is working to remove played tracks from future choices). I cleared my prefs file down to start afresh - not sure what would happen with existing prefs file. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lazysearch problem
On an Ubuntu installation I think you can do that with the following: echo "desc tracks" | mysql -v --protocol TCP -u slimserver -P 9092 slimserver Substitute "albums", "contributors" and "genres" for "tracks" in the above command to look in each table. In each case it should dump the names of the columns in each table, and there should be a "customsearch" in each case. Can you give that a go to see if that identifies a problem? I've just installed 7.5.0 from this same repository on Ubuntu 9.10 and each of my tables *does* have that column, and LazySearch seems to install OK on this configuration. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lazysearch problem
Sorry for the delay in responding to these posts. I think the problem is in the line saying "No such column customsearch", which is causing the database lazification step to fail. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Thanks vagskal & pippin, looks like what I mean. Another question re IPeng. In the SB3 or webinterface, choosing Genre lists only the Album Artists. In IPeng this is different. It lists all Album Artists but adds the artists that appear on albums taged with an Album Artist. So let's say I have an album by Ray Charles, taged with Ray Charles as Album Artist. All song have Ray Charles as artist/album artist, except one. That has Norah Jones as artist (and Ray Charles as Album Artist). SB3/Web list only Ray Charles, but IPeng lists both. Is that a bug? I'd like IPeng to behave similar to SB3/web. -- MrRalph MrRalph's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22078 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Greg- I have been among the hordes of frustrated users of your work product who suddenly realized just how much I depend upon it. It's somehow comforting just knowing what's going on outside, and surprising (to me, at least) how much I have come to rely on the display on my Transporter for such basic information. I just logged into my squeezeserver config and wanted to ceck the version of my SDT plugin. It wasn't there. It has mysteriously disappeared. Just as mysterious, the squeezeserver wanted to restart itself (I swear I didn't make any changes). I clicked on the restart button and crossed my fingers. SDT is back! The Transporter display seems to work as before, and upon checking the plugins, I see SDT version 5.8.12 is now installed. Make sure you have musicbrainz id tags in your music files, if you do a TrackStat backup on Windows will be possible to restore on Linux. If you don't already have musicbrainz id's in your music you will need to perform a full rescan on the Windows machine after you have added the tags and before you perform the TrackStat backup. 2. Open up the XML file in a text editor and start correcting the paths before you perform the restore on the Linux machine. Please note that the path's are url encoded so if the paths are very different on Linux this can be quite a bit of work. If it's just the beginning of the path that are different the "replace all" functionality of your text editor should work fairly good. 3. Use an external storage and the TrackStat import/export modules provided through Custom Scan plugin. You can use iTunes, MusicIP and possibly Amarok as external storages. Perform an export to the external storage on the Windows machine and perform an import on the Linux machine. Please note that this solution will only restore the rating, play count and last played information, it will not restore the historical information which is also handled by TrackStat. I really recommend solution 1, after you have musicbrainz tags in the files this kind of conversions will be a lot easier in the future. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74160 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I want to migrate all plugin data and settings from the old installation, but most importantly trackstat. I tried importing one of the automatic backup XML files to Squeezebox, but it didn't work. AlienBBC is retired -it plays BBC RealAudio streams and BBC are turning off those stream in March 2010. So the current BBC server problems are only a warning as to what will happen in March - you have to change plugin.
