I tried installing Squeezebox server on my work-laptop (running Vista

I have tried disabling the windows firewall, and removed the anti-virus

Suggestions for possible solutions are much appreciated!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-07-17 Thread Espen

Using ubuntu 10.04 (server edt) with squeezeboxserver 7.51

I installed the plug-in on a brand new system a few days back. It
worked fine. Then I turned off the machine to rig it up properly and
after the restart the plug-in would not work. That is, I could still
navigate the playlists, Top 100 etc, but whenever I tried to play a
song my Squeezebox Classics (SB3) would all show Connecting... and
nothing more. Got a simililar error from a Duet.

The server.log would then contain entries like:

[10-07-17 09:32:32.1339] Slim::Formats::XML::gotErrorViaHTTP (332)

I do not have an interesting spotifyd.log now, but whenever the
connection attempt timed out the next song would be loaded the log then
said something about port 9001 being busy.

Anyway, I then uninstalled the plug-in and next reinstalled it. After
that everything works fine. I really have no idea why. I tried to
restart the system and the squeezeboxserver as well before that, but
that did not help.

I reboot my server a few times a year so if the issue happened because
of the initial reboot this workaround not really a big issue for me.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-07-17 Thread punkmachine

I have a strange bug since the last few days. Whenever I try to play a
file the helper app stops running. I get different errors in the web
interface. It's either:

There was an error loading the remote feed for : (Error reading
headers: Server closed connection without sending any data back at
/Net/HTTP/Methods.pm line 306. ...propagated at /Net/HTTP/NB.pm line
32. )

Or

Connection timed out. Bad file descriptor.

After both these errors the helper app stops running and I have to
restart the server. I set the debug to debug streaming but spotifyd.log
remains empty.

Any suggestions?

However, there seems to be a conflict with SSODS and Synology's
built-in photo album, so today I decided to uninstall SSODS and instead
use the officially released SBS package from Synology - and now
 SqueezeIR no longer works.

I have moved all the files from the old SBS location to the new one and
reinstalled SqueezeIR, but no luck - I get Result: 5 (error).

The only difference between the old and the new location is that in the
new one, it's not called squeezeboxserver but still SqueezeCenter -
so the path to the new xml file location is
 /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/HTML/SqueezeIR/html/0004201a1c4a -
 should this mean anything ...?
I think the first thing to check is that the NAS is serving the xml
files correctly. If you point your web-browser at
http://serverip:9000/SqueezeIR/html/0004201a1c4a/SqueezeIR.xml can
you see the file in the browser? You can also check for the lirc files
in the same way. Can you SCP into the controller and send me the
var/log/messages file(s) as they will have a bit more detail and
(hopefully) tell me exectly where the problem is. I pesume the xml
hasn't been changed between it working and not working? Also, do you
have more than one Squeezebox Server on your network?

 same symptoms.

I have done some further checks.
spotifyd.exe seems to work properly except for streaming the music
 and creating a log file.

If I change the port, spotifyd.exe stops and then reappears listening
at the new port. It searches and returns tracks accurately. The track
information is sent to the SB3. I can move backwards and forwards to
other tracks in the playlist. I can import playlists etc.

On the controller (and iPeng) I can see the elapsed time progressing!
However, the elapsed time does not show on the SB3. The elapsed time
in iPeng does restart after 42seconds. I don't know if that is a
timeout related to spotifyd or something that iPeng is doing.

There doesn't appear to be a log file for spotifyd.exe anywhere on my
server! I can see that the spotify plugin page is looking for the log
 in the folder
 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
 Data\Squeezebox\Logs
where the other logs are found. The displayed log is empty because
 the log file doesn't exist.

I am interested to know if anybody else has the same symptoms.

I am not sure what else I can do at the moment. I would really like
 to get this working

Your problem is very like mine. I just discovered that changing port
for the helper app solves the problem. But as soon as I restart my

Yes, I'm seeing the same thing. Unfortunately the TrackStat menu is
currently optimized to look good in iPeng iPhone application, the
result is that the three line rows doesn't look very good on the Touch

I'll consider changing it in a future release.

I don't think the Touch interface have three line menu items anywhere,

menu item with three sub lines anywhere else in the interface and I'll
take a look and see if I can do something similar.

 Any suggestions?

What platform/OS is this on? Can you run the helper app from a command
window/terminal session and see what the output is. (need to change
directory of the location of spotifyd/spotifyd.exe and then run it
after killing the one started by the server)

Thanks for the reply, Triode! :)

Sorry for my bad description. I have found out that the re-entering of
password propably is not the real issue, since changing from port 9001
to for example 9002 fixes the issue as long as I dont restart the
server. When I do so, I must change the port yet again, to for example
9001. So I guess that when I earlier re-entered the password, the

There server will set up its web interface on port 9000-9010, 9100, 8000
or 1 when it starts up. Normally this will be 9000 and we can use
9001 for spotifyd. However if you have something already using 9000

As you maybe already have read; I have found the problem. But just to
give you feedback on your post. I tried to start up the server with
many differents port, and the same error occured every time, all I had
to to was change to a random port (or retype the password as stated
before, why this worked I dont know).

It is intended to work with password authorisation on, but it seems to
cause some people problems - if you could send me the log with logging
set to Debug then I may be able to understand this further.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-07-17 Thread Fredelig

Hey there. Thank you for a FANTASTIC plugin! :)

I had the same problem that many here have: unable to play on this
player, but after alot of testing I (think I) found the problem.

Under settings: Advanced - Security there is a choice Block
Incoming Connections. All the computers on my LAN have an address
like 10.0.0.* so I have always used blocking and put 10.0.0.* under
Allowed IP addresses.

It seems spotifyd connects from 127.0.0.1 in stead of 10.0.0.6, which
is the local ip-address. So the problem is fixed either by allowing
10.0.0.*,127.0.0.1 or choosing do not block. (At least that did the
trick for me)

Hope it helps someone else... :)

PS. It seems when I add your plugin (and even after
deactivating/activating), it creates the filename spotifyd.exe.conf.
When I test spotifyd.exe from command line, it looks for
spotifyd.conf, so I had to copy that file over manually...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeIR Support Thread

2010-07-17 Thread Pokersut

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79524

Question: Are you interested in IR-over-IP?

- Yes, I'd like to have IRoIP.
- No, I don't care.

indifference_engine;562311 Wrote:
I think the first thing to check is that the NAS is serving the xml
files correctly. If you point your web-browser at
 http://serverip:9000/SqueezeIR/html/0004201a1c4a/SqueezeIR.xml can
you see the file in the browser?

No! In Firefox I get something like this (translated from Danish):

Code:

XML Parse error: No element found. Address
http://192.168.1.100:9002/SqueezeIR/html/0004201a1c4a/SqueezeIR.xml line 1,
column 1

Note that the new SBS uses port 9002. Internet Explorer says this:

Code:

The XML page cannot be displayed
XML cannot be displayed using the stylesheet. Fix the error and press Reload
or try again later

The XML document needs an element at the top level

You can also check for the lirc files in the same way.

I get a time-out ...!

Can you SCP into the controller and send me the var/log/messages file(s)
as they will have a bit more detail and (hopefully) tell me exactly
 where the problem is.

Is this what you are looking for (copied from the file)?:

Code:

Jul 17 17:46:07 squeezeplay: WARN applet.SqueezeIR -
SqueezeIRApplet.lua:1240 ERROR: Error receiving config from
'http://192.168.1.100:9002/SqueezeIR/html/0004201a1c4a/SqueezeIR.xml'...
  Jul 17 17:46:07 squeezeplay: WARN applet.SqueezeIR -
SqueezeIRApplet.lua:1241 ERROR: Error returned was 'inactivity timeout'.
  Jul 17 17:46:07 squeezeplay: WARN applet.SqueezeIR -
SqueezeIRApplet.lua:715 ERROR: Configuration failed to load.

Or should I PM you the whole file?

I presume the xml hasn't been changed between it working and not
working? Also, do you have more than one Squeezebox Server on your
 network?

The XML is exactly the same, and if I open it in a browser directly
from my hard drive, it displays fine.

As for the question about more than one SBS, then I shouldn't have that
- but maybe I do ...? The old SBS - installed using SSODS - ran on port
9000 and the new one runs on port 9002, so maybe there is some trace of
the old installation left somewhere? I don't think so, though, as I have
completely uninstalled the old SBS, and there is no longer any response
on the old port.

The problem seems to be that the server no longer serves the xml file
correctly. Could this be a problem with the file permissions? My
permissions are this:

Code:

  SqueezeIR - group/owner: root/root - CHMOD: 0744
  html - group/owner: root/root - CHMOD: 0744
  0004201a1c4a - group/owner: root/root - CHMOD: 0755

I'll chip in to refund jmpage2's iPeng cost if he promises to never use

Try the other two SuperDateTime threads that have been updated in the
last couple of days, especially the last pages of each thread.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2010-07-17 Thread BoomX2

This might get you running until Greg has a chance to release an update.
Replace your gotWeather sub with the contents of the attached file.

I didn't get through everything, but it's a start.

Precip, UV index and a few others still need work. The major items are
working for me.

Hope it helps some of you.
Don

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] no sound with prairie home companion

2010-07-17 Thread raglencross

The mplayer executable and the directory and sub-directories which
contain it show me to have read and write permission which is expected
as my account is an administrative one. Other users for mplayer.exe
namely admin and everyone, are read only. I changed these to read
and write, but this had no effect.

I don't know how to determine ownership. If I install an application
as an administrator does that not make me the owner?
