Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] irBlaster plugin help

2011-11-18 Thread mn283

What you are experiencing is why I leave the amp/receiver volume fixed
and control volume on the Squeezebox. Using this digital volume
control supposedly affects the sound quality, but I certainly can't
hear it. Note that there is a Denon serial plugin that should provide
a precise level of control, but it only works on certain Denon
 receivers with RS-232 ports.

I stand by my previous post: You will get a much better user
experience by using the Squeezebox for the volume control. Set the
volume control on your amp so that it's as loud as you'll ever want in
when 100% on the SB, leave it at that setting and enjoy. BTW, I have
also tried setting the SB volume to fixed and using IRBlaster to
control amp volume. It worked, as designed, but for me, it was simply
not a good user experience. Volume control was inconsistent and there
was no indication of volume setting on any UIs.

yes I agree. The SB3 is at 100% volume and I didnt realise that the
volume bar resets after a change in volume. However the issue is I have
to press / release and press again with a slight pause. Which can be a
pain when I want to change down from a high volume or up from a low
volume. Ideally I would like to be able to hold the volume button down
and have it send repeated ir commands, however I cannot find a way to
do this so far even I presume I need to modify the config file for the
amps remote but do not know how

Hi Triode

This is very much a 'nice to have' if it was feasible, however is there
any way in the spotify API to match a local playlist to spotify and
produce a spotify playlist?, so I could match my 'Top Rated' playlist
and create a spotify version

Might be unachievable however would be a fantastic feature IMO!

thanks

Triode;555020 Wrote:
PLEASE NOTE THIS PLUGIN IS NOT ENDORSED OR SUPPORTED BY SPOTIFY OR
LOGITECH. IF YOU WANT A SUPPORTED SOLUTION FOR PLAYBACK OF SPOTIFY
STREAMS USING LOGITECH DEVICES PLEASE USE THE OFFICIAL LOGITECH SUPPORT
WHICH IS AVAILABLE FOR SQUEEZEBOX TOUCH AND RADIO.

Edit: Updated with Release status - Release 2.1.0 is now available from
the Recommended 3rd Party Plugin list

 Scope:
 - for Spotify users with a Premium account
 - plays back 320k or 160k streams
 - requires a PC based server running Squeezebox server (linux, windows
or mac), or linux based intel or arm based NAS (support not
 guarenteed)
 - will play back via Squeezebox 2 and later hardware players,
 SoftSqueeze and SqueezePlay
 - supports a single playback session at one time which may be
synchronised across multiple players (i.e. does not support multiple
differently playback sessions at one time - this is a Spotify
 limitation)

If you are a Spotify Premium subscriber, then to try it out:

 1) Make sure you are running 7.5.x or 7.6.x Squeezebox server, or
 7.7.x LMS
 2) (no longer necessary)
 3) Select the 3rd party Spotify Plugin from the recommended 3rd party
plugin list and then click apply as per normal plugin installation
 4) Ensure the server has restarted
 5) Go to the Plugin, Settings page for Spotify either via the
advanced menu or from the plugin page
 6) Read and agree the Spotify restrictions, then add your username and
 password to the settings page.
 7) If you refresh the settings page a couple of times you should see
that a helper app is running and it is logged into Spotify. If not
there may be an error to help...
 9) Go to the radio menu (7.5) or my apps (7.6+) on one of your
hardware players and you should be able to browse and play tracks from
 Spotify

Please provide feedback and let me know if this plugin is interesting
 to people on this thread

After installing LMS the plugin does not work and I received the
message cannot find wininet.dll and the message to reinstall
spotifyd. How do I do it?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Recording internet radio

Hi - Is there a free way to record internet radio streams, in particular
BBC3 HD? There seem to be some utilities out there but they all charge.
Would be good to be able to schedule a recording too... and even better
to store it in the native streamed format so there is no loss of
quality!

Oh, okay. I notice also that the only track info displayed for the
playing song is the song title. When I queue tracks in the webUI, it
shows the title, artist and album, but when the song starts playing all
but the track title is wiped out. Maybe this, too, is a result of the
schema change.

Now heading to buy my first album through bandcamp...

I've no idea whether spotify's dll includes Thermida, but my code does
not. It seems that more than one person has flagged this on the

Should have been clearer.
1) At present all you can do is try to reinstall
2) There is a new library which I will include in the next version, but
you try it until I do so. I don't know if this will improve matters,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Squeeze Remote for Windows Phone 7

2011-11-18 Thread Gilles2

Hi,
I received an update notification today and updated the Squeezeremote
App. When I tried to use it later it didn't want to start, showing
black screen with the small little dots moving.
Tried to stop the App and restart. Tried to restart phone. No change.
I then unistalled, my plan being to re-install. Now I can't find the
App anymore on the Zune Marketplace.
What happens?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Bandcamp, Pluggin, App, Store ?

2011-11-18 Thread Michael Herger
Oh, okay. I notice also that the only track info displayed for the
playing song is the song title. When I queue tracks in the webUI, it
shows the title, artist and album, but when the song starts playing all
but the track title is wiped out. Maybe this, too, is a result of the
 schema change.

That's actually what made me aware of the issue. Scrobbling failing is a
side-effect of the missing artist/track information.

Now heading to buy my first album through bandcamp...

Nice :-). What is it you bought?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-11-18 Thread epoch1970

Howdy Pippin,

I've noticed recently the (+) (-) volume buttons on the iPad are now
easier to use. I need them because most of my players control volume
via IR Blaster. So, thanks for this.

There is still something that puzzles me. Why not have the MultiPlayer
Control drop-down list on the left hand side, rather than on the right?
The name of the current player would be next to its icon. The right side
would have all audio controls: volume, repeat, playlist…

I've been using iPeng since day one, and I still open the playlist by
error when I want to get control of another player. I guess I am drawn
to the large icon when I want to do that action.

If it disappears that means it's crashing. But then the penguin
screen should always come.
Otherwise I have no idea what you are doing :) There is no way for an
App to actively go to the background.

On the crash: anything reproducible? I know about three issues:
- The browser sometimes crashes when using lots of JavaScript. It's
actually badly written code in WebKit (the browser's engine) and I
can't do anything about that. The problem is that objects don't get
released proberly, need to file a nice bug with Apple but since this
isn't really their own code, too,... Tells you something about browser
vulnerabilities.
- iPeng doesn't like players to often disconnect and immediately
reconnect. But this is a behavior that almost always points to unstable
operation of your server (it's about _really_ disconnecting players).
The 3rd issue is the 7.7.0 menu bug (see above). 7.7.1 helps.

There was a way to send crash reports from iPeng I've just did not
 figure how ?
Just enable crash reporting in iTunes.

Yes, iPeng generally works fine with LMS 7.7.0.
There is one nasty bug in 7.7.0 (fixed in the 7.7.1 betas), please have
a look at iPeng's FAQ for a workaround:
http://penguinlovesmusic.de/ipeng-the-iphone-skin-for-squeezecenter/how-to-use-the-ipeng-application/known-issues/
The bug can affect Squeezeboxes as well (at least Touch, Radio and
Controller) but iPeng probably runs into trouble earlier because it has
a guard in there against loading too big a menu to work around some
other server problems in 7.6

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-11-18 Thread Triode

Release 2.2.1 is now available:
- move to libspotify 10.1.16 (hopefully fixing compatibilty with old
linux machines and some arm NASs)
- update radio menu to match spotify radio genre changes (*)
- removal of friends feature as no longer supported by spotify
- internal changes to improve image handling and speed to display
artist menus

This release moves the the latest spotify library which hopefully
resolves problems of support for older linux machines with the previous
spotify library. It should also resolve problems with ARM based NASs,
but I still have some from early testers of some NASs not liking this
new release, so would be interested in feedback. (if this does not
work then 2.0.4 is the last reported working release)

(*) Please note the radio menu mechanism has chaged internally to the
spotify library, but spotify has not documented the changes. The new
menu layout is my best guess of how it should work based on the order
of genres on the spotify PC client. I would be specfically interested
in feedback if this appears correct and works for you. The options are
less complex than before with a single level of genres including 60s,
70s and 80s rather than a level of years and genres as I believe this
is how spotify now intends it to work.
