[SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify [Triode] problem: Frequent buffer underruns
Since about a week, I have an issue with streaming Spotify to my Squeezebox and iPeng players. The issue occurs only with Spotify; all other streaming services work fine. Also, Spotify works fine when using the PC Spotify client. The problem is that every few seconds, playback stops (hardware players) or starts stuttering (iPeng) for a second or two. The hardware players indicate that rebuffering is in progress. After a while, the player seems to give up on the current track and moves on to the next one, with the same problem. I have upgraded to the latest version of the plugin, to no avail. The plugin's self test completes without errors (including the streaming to device test). Every now and then, I see suspicious messages in spotifyd.log, including: [17:16:49.067131] main:816 existing streaming connection exists - killing [17:17:29.606936] main:1579 relogin requested [17:17:29.607128] main:1608 resetting streambuf [17:19:34.094124] music_delivery:564 error writing [17:19:34.094265] main:1608 resetting streambuf The last message seems to be most closely correlated to the buffer underrun problem. Any advice please? Thank in advance! ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

But it is killing the options and the use of Logitech and only promoting Apple's own airplay.. Jeppe and eventually 3G won't even work as Apple continues to update OS. But if one has a working ipeng on an older model, one can continue to use this old version of ipeng forever. However, you should save the copy of the old version of ipeng because Pippin can't distribute this to you later on. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
I don't know how fast the 3G (iTouch, not iPhone!!! IPhone 3G is already no longer supported, only 3GS and newer) will become obsolete. In this case it's not a question of the OS (the latest OS available for the 2g iTouch is 4.2.1, btw, not 4.3, there are no devices limited to 4.3; if you have a 4.3 running on the iTouch it's already a 3G and you can update to 5 and continue to use iPeng). The limitation is really related to the processor platform. The next change of processor platform is with iPhone 5/iPad 4 so it will probably still be a few years until they stop support of ARM7, after all they currently still sell a lot of devices with this platform (iPad mini, iPhone 4S, iPad 2). That's also why 1st and 2nd generation devices are so cheap right now: you just can't get Apps for them anymore. pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

With uncommon bitrates I wonder whether it might be the iOS's decoder not liking the bitrate but on the other hand I'm not sure that would make it skip, I'd think it should fall silent instead (not sure, though, maybe it would return an error making iPeng skip manually). When I say internet streaming works, I was referring to accessing my library remotely via the internet. For whatever reason, this is working flawlessly over my iPhone. That said, internet streams (CBS radio and Podcasts) do not skip or stop inside the house the way my local files do. The 180kbps was a 192kbps .mp3 VBR encoding via FOOBAR (which uses LAME, I think). These same files play fine on the iPad and iPhone natively. I will try a few more things and see if I can't validate and illuminate the issue further. This really should be a separate thread as RTE has nothing to do with BBC. I created an RTEplayer plugin years ago (so long the original thread is not longer in the forum but IIRC still available under 3rd party plugins.) but you'll never get a plugin similar to BBCiPlayer because RTE website/podcast/listenback/app infrastructure is a mess. If you decide to install the plugin you will also need to install PlayReal to play Realaudio format. Unlike BBc there is no single feed of program info and web pages for programs are subtly different so no single parser can be written so aplugin would be high maintenance. Again unlike BBC - there is no single feed which provides all the available podcasts - you have to go to the program page to get the relevant podcast feed (e.g. you can play Gloria podcasts from RTE web pages but not from RTE player app) - again high maintenance. RTE also seems to be confused about which audio format to use - Podcast are MP3, some archive/listen back are still in RealAudio and newer ones are often in Flash Audio (IIRc some use Flash/encrypted which mean a plugin would break TC's of app/website) bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

When I use Explorer to scan my complete music library, it reports 97206 MP3 files found (I only use MP3 format). When Muso performs an initial clean scan it reports the same numer exactly; -97206 songs parsed, 96932 new songs added, 0 songs updated, 0 errors, 0 albums marked as compilations- My questions are: 1. Why are only 96932 of the 97206 songs added? (What happened to the rest, why and which files were omitted?) 2. I used MP3Tag to mark 708 albums as compilations. Still none were added, and the ones I know I've marked appears as un-marked in Muso while they're reported ad marked by MP3Tag. Why is this? [SlimDevices: Plugins] Whitebear Windows 8 Play To
Hi Andrew, I am wondering whether you have any plans/desire to make Whitebear's Media Receiver functionality compatible with Windows 8. And whether its possible. Windows 8 apps have access to a Devices charm which allows you to sling the particular content (video/audio) to a compatible DLNA device. This is a beefed up version of the WMP PlayTo functionality. It seems that Microsoft has extended the DLNA standard somewhat, rendering most DLNA devices out there incompatible, unfortunately. There seems to be some kind of Windows 8 certification programme for hardware manufacturers, but I can't figure out if one needs to go through it in order for the device to work with Windows 8, or whether this certification is optional but some extra features need to be supported. Any which way, as it currently stands, Whitebear *does* appear on the list of Windows 8 devices (with a note it's not certified) but does not appear in the music-playing apps as a target. It would be wicked if this were simple to implement, since presumably a lot of content will become slingable in this way in the future, at least if Windows 8 is reasonably successful. One could then use the Squeezebox as such a renderer. I've found this document which talks about the implementation http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/br259123.aspx Wigster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14899 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97855 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

However, if you also get Multi Library plugin, you will be able to setup a virtual library that only consists of music in certain file paths and after that it's possible in Custom Skip to skip music which belongs to this virtual library defined in Multi Library plugin. With Custom Browse plugin together with Multi Library, you will also be able to create browse menus that doesn't show the music in these special file paths if that's of interest.
