utgg - great patch, works a treat!!

It's been said many times in this thread already, but a big thanks to
the community for maintaining this plugin, especially Triode, bpa, utgg
for dedicating so much effort in getting this working.

We shouldn't underestimate the scale of this - we've now got the only
fully working iPlayer implementation outside the official BBC apps!!

Great thanks.

I've done this with regular http polling (every 30 seconds) of a URL
that is used by the official iPlayer app for its 'onair' information.
Although this isn't published as an official interface, it looks pretty
'open' to me and has been stable for two or more years, by the look of
it. I can't guarantee how long this will work for, but given the speed
at which the BBC are chopping and changing things, this is likely to be
 as stable as anything.
This is excellent, and works well on my Windows system

I'd been looking at the info they provide for the Radioplayer on the
desktop, but hadn't got very far.
And went down a few dead ends on the way.

The url that you poll seems more useful than the one I was looking at,
although I was only looking at the track/artist info.

Thankyou again :)

As I've needed to touch a few files in the plugin, I'm just posting a
patch file at the moment (only applies to the BBCiPlayer-v1.3.1alpha3
plugin). Sorry, this is for linux command line only for now (or cygwin
or similar in windows). Copy the file to the BBCiPlayer plugin
directory, cd to that directory and type:

Code:

   patch -p1 BBCiPlayer-v1.3.1alpha3-Onair-v0.1.patch

After restarting LMS check the settings - there is an extra one called
'Show OnAir Text' which needs checking, and the 'Show Live Text' needs
un-checking. 'Show Slide Show' will still work for displaying
different artwork (on those channels that already had RadioVis).

PS. I've also amended the menu.opml, adding a couple of missing
stations and including some icon links for those that didn't have one.

PPS. patch -bp1 BBCiPlayer-v1.3.1alpha3-Onair-v0.1.patch will also
create a backup of the changed files. If you want to go back though,
it's probably easiest just to un-install and reinstall the plugin.

Edit: I've also added a zip of just the files that have changed, if
the patch file is problematic for your system. Extract over the top of
the existing BBCiPlayer plugin directory, replacing existing files.
Make sure this includes the basic.html file which is buried in a deep
 path.

I need to say that as I've now modified Triode's original code (which
is allowable as it is GPLv2), he's in no way responsible for any
problems I may have now introduced...

Works for me, using WinScp and the zipped files- reinstalled my
favourites.

Many thanks

Hi,

So I've been testing the new iPlayer 1.3.1a3 plugin with the updated
faad.exe on WHS v1 and a Squeezebox 3 (LMS 7.8.1).

1) Updating the faad has allowed me to access the Live streams (non-UK).
There seems to be some rebufferring issues every minute or so (both
Radio 1 and Radio 6), but the stream recovers. No errors in the log.
faad does not seem to be excessively loading the CPU or anything like
that.

2) World Service does not work. This is what I get in the log then I try
to open it: see bbc-live.log

3) The listen again stream starts fine after some buffering delay (much
longer than in the old setup) and seek fine too. But they always stop
after about 5-10 minutes. There doesn't seem to be anything interesting
in the log around the time of the failure:see bbc-la.log

I'm not around next week, but I could test something after 13/4 if
that's helpful.

I'll try my best to help...

I assume you are outside the UK? There seem to be some slightly odd
things going on for you!

1) Did the alpha3 plugin not work with the original faad.exe? Were you
previously able to play any aac content (e.g. iTunes .m4a files)? The
bug that was fixed in faad.exe should only occur in a very small
percentage of streams (it was only noticed on one Listen Again stream),
and all I'd expect on the Live streams is that very occasionally the
stream won't start playing, but retrying will make it go. So I don't
understand why you needed the new faad.exe, although it is nice to
confirm that it works on WHS v1. (Well problems 2) and 3) could be a
problem with faad, maybe...).

2) From the bbc-live.log, I've got little idea why the world-service
isn't playing. The HLS stream data is being fetched ok and apparently
being passed into the lms streaming/transcoding system, and nothing has
thrown an error with the stream data. But the 'consecutiveErrors'
reports mean (I think) that the stream hasn't actually ever started
playing on the player. You'll need to turn on more system logging to
find out what is happening. I know very little about the inner workings
of LMS, but earlier in this thread bpa had suggested player.source debug
logging if it is anything to do with transcoding, so I suggest trying
that for a start.

3) The bbc-la.log looks like it might be after the event. All I can see
there is that the HLS decoder is tearing through HLS chunks and passing
them into the LMS streaming system far too fast - the chunks are
normally 10 seconds each, but they are being dispatched as fast as once
every 1 second! It's like the streaming/transcoding system is just
discarding the data - it might be something similar to what is happening
in 2). Again, I can only suggest turning on additional player debug
logging in lms to try and see what is going on.

RadioVis isn't a separate plugin - it's part of the BBCiPlayer plugin.
It what does the existing live text, but only text for Radio1 and 1Xtra,
if you have 'Show Live Text' ticked. Does that work on the player
display (untick 'Show OnAir Text' first - it will get confused if you
have both ticked).

Thanks for offering to help, but I'll see if I can get anywhere with
SqueezeSlave first, as the docs imply it does the same kind of display -
I'll need to instrument the code with debug statements to see what is
going wrong...

This is just a bug fix to get the live text to display on the older
players with a VFD display like SB3, Boom Transporter. As it is mostly
just a copy of Triode's code, I think it should be all good now
TurnipMan says it works.

The bug fix won't affect the display on the touch, radio, duet
controller, squeezeplay, jivelite, web interface or phone/tablet
controller apps. While I was at it, I did however spot and modify a
couple of other things to make it a bit more robust - since it looked
like it was theoretically possible to start and stop a stream very
quickly and not clean up the OnAir object properly. I didn't see any
evidence of that being possible in my testing though, and from the
positive responses so far I'll assume that the OnAir patch is good
enough to publicise on your sticky page if you like.

I'll just update the patch/zip files in the earlier post, and amend the
words to make it clear that the patch is applicable to all
linux/windows/OSX platforms. The .patch file method won't work a second
time around, but I'll assume that anyone who originally managed that
patch can cope with copying the updated OnAir.pm file, and that most
will just want to use the zip file now.

I used the original patch. I notice on the original post you mention
the need to include basic.htm when using the zip.

I checked in the patched folder and there isn't a basic.htm file there.
So, maybe the first patch failed to copy that file? Should I just coy

The url that you poll seems more useful than the one I was looking at,
although I was only looking at the track/artist info.

 Thankyou again :)

Were you looking at this form of url:
http://polling.bbc.co.uk/radio/realtime/bbc_6music.json by any chance?
That gives track and artist info, but isn't updated if there is no
track/artist actually playing - it only has valid information if the
realtime name at the end of the .json file I use is set to
now_playing. I thought I might want to pick up track/artist from that
url when available - but the url I've used gives 'track by artist' form
of info anyway. So I kept it simple, and retained the separate line
giving the overall programme name. I did start following where they got
track artwork from, but didn't get very far.

I also started looking deeper into the more detailed information for the
whole programme with this type of url:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05nsdwf.json, just looking for
programme artwork really. But the images are mostly just headshots of
the presenter, and I wasn't that bothered about having those! Maybe
something for a future update.

Even worse for stations that don't play music, like radio_four, the json

I noticed the artist artwork taken from the musicbrainz id, and did look
at the track artwork but was stumped by a couple of bits.

Hi - I don't have my computer accessible right now, but probably happens
is that, from time to time, the X10 does not respond to the periodic
search and is then removed from the players list. At another next search
it is rediscover again and so on. Few options there 1/ if you do not
need a periodic rescsan, disable it (one of the parameters, sorry I
don't know them by heart anymore) 2/ if you need the periodic
rediscovery because the x10 disappear for good when you switch it off,
but has this issue of non always responding when it should, extend the
search timeout to more that 30 seconds and 3/ if it still does not work
well, I will do a change to
verify that a lost player is _really_ unreachable

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)

2015-04-03 Thread gv200

Hello Flysurfer,

I'd to to revisit my prior request of adding multiple instances of
Squeezelite through the web interface. My attempts to do this manually
have been met with little success. My results have been very odd, on
occasion when I reboot I can get 2 instances of squeezelite working and
then on a subsequent reboot the manually added instance of Squeezelite
disappears again. The whole ordeal has been frustrating to say the
least.

I sincerely think that this would be a worthwhile addition for the
Max2play interface. I would think that most people have more than one
listening area in their home and would benefit from not having to
purchase multiple Odroid's/Raspberry Pi's. I actually have 5 separate
listening areas in my home that need there own instance of Squeezelite -
2 Bathrooms, Workshop, Patio, Living Room.

Perhaps adding this as a premium feature might make it worth your while
and would also serve to separate the Max2play platform from other mini
computer music offerings.
