Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Error with Dynamic Mix Plugin

2017-01-23 Thread Phil Meyer
I've not had any trouble running my plugin on any revision of 7.9.

But I lost my webspace (well, my ISP stopped providing the free service without
telling me), and now I think PenguinLovesMusic is hosting on a repo for me.
I've moved ISP, but don't have any free webspace to host it.

I run mine direct from source, not installed from that repo, but no-one else
has reported a problem.
What version of the plugin does your server claim to have?

No - just that the audio data will take a different path than the video
(buffered by Windows, put into packets sent by TCP, received by player )
all takes time and that player neeeds to build up a buffer of audio
before it can be played. The main delay of typically at least 5-10 secs
is usually in Windows - network and processing delays also occur but are
much smaller.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Using plugin to get Internet radio track data from web site

2017-01-23 Thread Paul Webster

I tried remote_title and remotetitle (2nd is mentioned in some code
elsewhere) but didn't work - at least when data returned via

Code:

  $song->pluginData( wmaMeta => $info );
  Slim::Control::Request::notifyFromArray( $client, [ 'newmetadata' ] );

Anyway - not too important. I could put in a Settings option to disable
sending of Album info so that the station name appears.

One more, and hopefully last, issue ...

I have been trying to optimise things to reduce call-backs and fetching
from the source web site - so I collect data based on the station (using
basically the same "meta" object as in Michael's DRS plugin.

However, the problem that this leads me to is when there is more than
one device playing the same station (but the devices are not Synched)
then I discard call-backs for one of the devices (because I know that I
already have a timer set for later for the station) ... which means that
when my other timer does expire then only one device is updated.
I guess I could run around all of the devices to see if any are playing
the same station and push the same update to them - but is there a
better way?

Thank you for your reply Mnyb. Thankfully, you are omniposting in all
subforums. So movie sound, even if it is flac, 2 channel, is heavier to
process than audio due to larger buffers (i e would get stuck in
buffering)?

The Pico Radiostation is a bit older than the SuperConnect, according to
the spec-sheet it only supports RealAudio, Windows Media Audio, MP3, AAC
- MPEG 4, AU, WAV and AIFF; so I will need some transcoding (or put the
library in a different format). I updated LMS to 7.8, installed Lame and
set it as a possibility for flac files. Now, when I browse files with
the Revo Pico, it lists all the files. Trying to play back an MP3 works,
but when trying a flac file it crashes the LMS service.

I should be able to push an mp3 stream, using the remote streaming
function of LMS, but I cannot get the Pico to show up as upnp/dlna
renderer. I suspect it is not compliant with that.

Good to know there may be issues with the standard LMS UPNP plugin in
combination with Philippe's. It may be easiest for me to do the same and
disable the standard LMS UPNP plugin to avoid it showing up in the list
of servers. I have used Whitebear in the past, but with varying success,
so I wanted to see if there were other ways (I reinstalled the entire
system I try to limit what I install/uninstall to keep it more or less
clean :-))

> You don't want to go to LMS 7.9?

I have now upgraded my Ubuntu server (which included a newer Perl) and
LMS so I now have:

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1484464959 @ Mon Jan 16 04:38:26
UTC 2017
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: i686-linux
Perl Version: 5.22.1 - i686-linux-gnu-thread-multi-64int

Unfortunately, the problem persists: Everything works perfectly with my
SB Radio (and through the Squeezeplayer app on my Android phone) but on
my SB Receivers I don't get any music, just some "scracthing" sounds. I
have tried playing material from iTunes, Google Play Music, YouSee Musik
and Youtube. In every case, the file format is described as "WAV" and
the bit rate is 44.100.

Could it be that I have to set up transcoding for the SB Receivers -
would it even be used by ShairTunes2?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Using plugin to get Internet radio track data from web site

2017-01-23 Thread Michael Herger

Another question ... when playing a stream via its URL (as opposed to
playing it by name in TuneIn or a favourite) the stream URL is shown (on
a Touch-like display) just below the title/artist.
When playing a station by name then it is the station name that is
shown.

Try returning a remote_title in your metadata. If there's no album name
for a remote stream, but that remote_title, then I think it will be shown.

But TBH: I only find that value being used. I haven't found where it's
ever set in LMS...
