For anyone having issues with spotty throwing errors in the logs similar
to:

Code:

Spotify access token: 'true' expected, at character offset 0 (before "thread

/checkout/src/libcore/option.rs:323
note: Run with `RUST_BACKTRACE=1` for a backtrace.

I resolved the issue by changing my Spotify password to eliminate
special characters. I've file 'an issue'
(https://github.com/plietar/librespot/issues/225) with librespot.

In the Audio world this is not a Big Problem for you. You can
completely solve it by investing $169 in a New Synology NAS at this
link. We should all wish that 'Big disappointments and kids crying'
could be solved as simple as a $169 solution. Seriously I have much
bigger problems than this and if this is your biggest problem, you
are very lucky my friend.

I was running the official plugin until it was stopped yesterday. I am
so disappointed, and my kids are crying as they can't browse their
favorite music on our Squeezebox touch anymore :(
Any chance my DS212+ equiped with ARMLE will be supported one day? (I
have the message 'Synology DiskStation / armle-linux not supported')
Will I have to invest in a more recent NAS ? Or raspberry if I manage to
install it...

Too old for this? The official plugin was working fine until it was

Any chance I can get it working by tuning something ?

There has been a problem running the Spotty helper application.
Most likely your operating system and/or platform is not supported.

Hi
Full rebuild as quite old install, all fixed thanks, yes I reckon the
plugin reinstall is the solution

In the top right corner of the web remote control or on the squeezebox

A full playlist uri looks something like spotify:playlists:user but
there seems to be a problem playing them. Can't verify right now, but

No. The Touch's USB port does the bare minimum, 500mA. A Pi should be
powered by a 2A at least. If you want to use a soundcard, display or USB
disk you should pick an even more powerful power supply.

Gerrelt's instructions for LMS and Squeezelite on rpi are very simple to
follow

I use just two extras

Code:

*-sudo apt-get install libio-socket-ssl-perl libnet-ssleay-perl-*

and

Code:

sudo apt-get install lame

The rest of the stuff, connecting to a NAS share and wireless bits and
bobs is all just a google away.

It is a viable route, but picoreplayer is a worthy alternative, even for
the linux-inclined :) (I'm one of the linux-challenged )

The BBC Radio 3 flac menu is in the menu.opml file delivered with
1.5.4.4. There is no code to hide or delete this menu - the opml file
is processed directly by LMS.

If it was there and is now no longer there yet other menu items are
present - the opml file has been overwritten perhaps you clicked the
"load menu layout" button in settings. This will load the menu for
1.5.3. Reinstalling the plugin may be the simplest way to restore it.

It's all working perfectly now. My remote streaming via 4G from the pCP

I am putting the 4G pauses I was experiencing down to the recent weather

Still going to build a VB2.4 though as I like it's ripping ability but
it will be hacked to rip directly to my NAS via NFS

I just lost the old spotify app :(.

I finally have spotty set up and it seems to work fine. I had some
trouble installing everything on my Raspberry Pi though, and thought I
would share my "solutions".

First with how to install the 7.9.1 nightly build. I ended up following
the "Installing LMS (squeezebox) server" of this guide:
http://www.gerrelt.nl/RaspberryPi/wordpress/tutorial-stand-alone-squeezebox-server-and-player-for-bbq/
substituting 7.9.0 with 7.9.1.

Second I had trouble figuring out how to get IO::Socket::SSL installed.
I ended up following the steps here
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=49735=386673

I am not sure if those are exactly right, but things seem to be working
now. I was thinking, maybe instructions on how to do these things (in
particular the SSL stuff caused me trouble) should be added to the top
post of this thread? I am sure the thread has better directions than
those in this post, but the thread is already 51 pages, and too much
work to go through.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce - Song info plugin for FIP radio

2017-07-21 Thread Paul Webster

SSL related.
Perhaps LMS not handling a redirect or spotting that the :443 is SSL
port and tried to connect with http ... or (implied by the error text)
treating the :443 as part of hostnsme and getting in a real mess.
Since it works with mysqueeze then maybe this is a fix that Michael
Herger can copy over to LMS.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce - Song info plugin for FIP radio

2017-07-21 Thread Dean_Bayliss

Paul, thanks. I continued testing. Basically I can get the plugin to
produce the cover-art all the time, as long as under
Advanced>performance>re-size art work is set to Squeezebox things are
fine. I'm not the only person with the issue as I can see from a few
posts back. When it is working for you, is that the option you have on,
or are you using LMS to re-size. If you switch to LMS does it stop for
you too?

What I can confirm is that the url for the image is always displayed in
the logging, so I am thinking this may be an LMS issue rather than
plugin. I can't leave the re-size on my-squeezebox.com as it then
doesn't get the aspect ration and size right for everything else! BTW
all other stations cover art works in LMS setting that I use - also
checked Dandelion and that was fine as is Paradise and BBC plugin.

Would be really useful to know your set up - as otherwise it points to
an installation mis-config at my end - but would also be the same with
the previous poster.

TBH it's somewhere in the middle, I run picoreplayer LMS on a Pi3, it's
normally left on 24/7, at the weekend we had a power cut...

I didn't have to rebuild the pi, all that was required was a reindex of
the catalogue, which takes about 35mins for 3K flac albums.

Repack doesn't enable Spotty. Repack is LMS791 "configured"/packed for
Synology NAS models.
You can choose to install Synology's own "official" LMS packet instead,
but that is "only" LMS790.

So LmsRepack is LMS791. Synology's own LMS version is LMS790. Both works
with Spotty. However LMS791 includes something that fixes an issue with
seeking in Spotify tracks (Not sure what issue exactly it is).

Pinkdot, how about Updates instead of Repack? Any way at all to get
Spottify working on my DS213? Maybe in the near future?

So I've stopped running LMS and have started running Repack, and
streaming local files goes just fine. Should I quit Repack and start the
original LMS once more? Or can I just keep running Repack? Not really
sure what Repack does exactly, except for enabling Spotty (which doesn't
work for my DS213 apparantly)

Mmm, I'm really not happy about Spotify quiting Squeezebox support. I
mostly used Spotify instead of my own local content on my Duet. I've
read posts from people claiming to end their Spotify account, as a sort
of statement. But the fact is, I really want my Spotify. And as much as
I love my Squeezebox Duet, I'm afraid that the hardware is going to be
the one that needs to change.

I'm not sure about Raspberry Pi, I'm not that tech savvy. I was thinking
more about a Chromecast Audio, with a wired adapter. I've read that
there are issues streaming from DS Audio however. Anybody any
recommendations about using a chromecast to stream both Spotify ánd
local DS content?

P.S. I really hope to get some form of Spotify up and running on my
Squeezebox again though

Any chance you pi fans could start a separate thread on pi purchase and
setup?

It's starting to overwhelm this thread!

Well I would advise to get just the basics at the moment.

You can set up the pi from your computer (headless).

So you just need a rpi3B, official power supply and at least a 16gb SD
card, something like Sandisk (and you will need to be able to write an
image to the card).

I would say to not get a case yet, you might want to add a dac board
later.

I can make an image for you this weekend and send a download link, so
all you will have to do is burn the image and configure the LMS.

Buy from whoever you like, Amazon has a good returns policy, here in the
UK I have used Amazon, Pimoroni, Mod-my-pi and others without a problem.

In my opinion (and fat fingers) yes.

The main advantage is the running in RAM, pull the plug and shut it down
without faffing around.

I also find the Max2Play web gui is too busy and too bright (tablets are
to blame for the latter I think, as a lot of sites are like this).

Also, when Stephen used to post here a response to a query was fairly
prompt, nowadays there is a desire to drive all queries to their own
forum and some folk have to wait a while for an answer; if one posts a
question here, help is on hand from the many sad old lurkers

Well not exactly the one you link to, which has a 2.8" screen. I bought
one with larger screen, but in principle probably the same besides
screen size I guess:
https://shop.max2play.com/en/raspberry-pi-2-bundle-7-display.html

I cannot comment on Max2Play vs piCorePlayer or other solutions. I have
only tried this. I also only use it as a player, but yes it can work as
both player and LMS server at once if needed. The only catch I see is
that the player cannot connect directly to the mysqueezebox.com
cloudserver because it's not official Logitech hardware. No problem for
me though. Haven't used mysqueezebox.com in years. And LMS plugins which
depends on an account or configuration on mysqueezebox.com also still
works. It's just the direct connection of player that isn't possible.

If you purchase one of these kits you get a free 3 months Max2Play
license included, which is probably needed for the initial setup. Once
you have the right plugins installed (actually comes 99% preconfigured
with kit), you don't need the license anymore.

You probably get more "street credit" for a piCorePlayer solution. I
just purchased the Max2Play kit for convenience :-)

2017-07-21 Thread holle

Me again. i just figured out, that spotty is kind of killing my whole
network. To disable Spotty solved this ;)

To explain better: when spotty is running as a plugin, some of my other
devices are disconnecting and reconnectin in a minutely frequency. I
have at least 30 devices (Homeautomation) in my network. Also speed of
the whole network is decreased drasticaly. What is spotty doing that the
original Spotify plugin didn´t?

Brodcast/Multicast?

Any ideas?

hi jouteur,

SqueezePlug has nothing to do with piCorePlayer.

SqueezePlug was a separate LMS/squeezelite distribution way back, it
might have been one of the first. It was incorporated into one of the
other products to give it LMS capability, but I am not sure if it still
used that way anymore.

This is all working great; but is there any way to get access to some of
the other Browse areas in Spotify?

I'm particularly thinking of Discover Weekly, Release Radar and the Top
Recommendations.

Could you try the change to enable debugging the HTML the plugin
retrieves? Without that I cannot see why things might fail.

My patch: 'Reduce brightness when screen saver is active'
(http://server.vijge.net/squeezebox/) for Touch
Source code: 'GitHub' (https://github.com/danielvijge) for SqueezeCloud,
Mixcloud, 22tracks and YouTube (old version)

Sorry to come back to that problem.. After more reading I get it that I
need something to run that LMS other than my computer (if I don't want
it to run all the time just for that)
So what is the best solution for a newbie like me... run it on a
raspberry yes..but I don't know nothing just the stuff I am reading
right now...
I found that ipcore player (sorry that was a french site
http://www.geekmag.fr/picoreplayer-transformer-un-raspberry-pi-en-player-squeezebox/
and I got more info here https://sites.google.com/site/picoreplayer/home
can run LMS on SqueezePlug) but the link from the french website for
SqueezePlug send me to https://www.max2play.com/

Wonder what to do next

Thanks for your light

Spotty should work on LMS7.7.x and up, including Synology's own official
LMS7.9.0 package.
There's an issue seeking within a track which is only fixed in lately
LMS791 builds, but besides that you should be able to find, install and
run Spotty perfectly well on older versions of LMS.

I would generally recommend people using a Synology NAS to install
LmsRepack, but you don't need LmsRepack for Spotty to work.
