I'm confused then. We both had spotty for the squeezebox option on both the PC and iphone after auto authorizing and selecting the device. Even though I authorized I still couldn't play until I went back into LMS and entered my Spotify user name and password. Then that device disappeared for everyone except me. You're right about the 32-bit part, but as that was already mentioned on the havetheknowhow site (wit an older deprecated library, but still) I hadn't mentioned it as a change in procedure. The difference between the 2 approaches has to do with the difference between the way services are launched: 'systemd<->sys v<->upstart' (https://fossbytes.com/systemd-vs-sys-v-vs-upstart/). Systemd is the most recent of the three and the default in Ubuntu since 15.04. I have no idea why the original info on havetheknowhow worked for 16.04 which I had previously but doesn't on 18.04. The service file I now created is for systemd. At that point > the only person that can play spotty from an iphone device is myself. It shouldn't make any difference whether you add credentials manually or through an app. The resulting credentials file would be the same. BUT: don't confuse auth mode with being able to play! Spotty would indeed announce itself in the network in auth mode, making it visible to all devices. But you won't be able to play. As soon as you select that device, the helper would end and save the credentials. You'll then have to configure Spotty to expose your player(s) as Connect targets (see the Spotty settings). And make sure the announcement in the network is not disabled in Spotty. If you had another computer to cross-test I'd be interested to know whether this is just a Windows Vista issue. What you're describing sounds rather unique (starting playback 30s in to the track). As is your computer. I don't know whether I've seen anybody else trying Spotty on Vista... In infrequent intervals, mostly overnight, Spotty connect goes away. I can still stream music from spotify to the SB, but the players do not show up in the spotify app to connect to. In htop I see 3 instances "spotty-hf -c". Still RPi 3, Stretch Lite, Spotty 2.4.4 when I untick the connect box for one SB in the Settings, apply the settings, tick the box again, apply again, connect appears again and I can stream music from the spotify app to my players.
