Gordon, thank you very much for your great plugin! I discovered it recently, and it is exactly what I was looking for. I installed it via the repository on an Ubuntu 9.10 box. However, I noticed that the script srvrpowerctrl-setup.sh still uses the user name squeezecenter. After changing all occurrences to squeezeboxserver, everything worked fine! Mark, thank you for the hint! It basically works with my 8500, too. But I noticed a few times that the receiver didn't power down when the SB switches off. But sending the commands from the IR blaster settings page works fine. Maybe it has something to do with the weather plug-in that is activated when going to standby. And I wonder if the IR blaster can be tweaked, so that a short press switches only the SB on and off, and a long press also switches the receiver. Ok, I played around a bit. Here is what I did: I connected the headphone output of the SB3 via a standard soundcard cable to the RC-5 input of my Marantz receiver. Then I used the learning capabilities of the IR-Blaster plugin to record the 'power on' and 'volume up/down' commands from the Marantz remote control. I then tested the commands from the IR-Blaster HTML front end, but nothing happened. I also tried both channels from the soundcard cable. Well... I would have been very surprised if this naive setup had worked, but I was just curious. ;-) Still, is there a way to get this working? Some hints or suggestions, anyone? I wonder if it is possible to use the IR Blaster plug-in without an IR transmitter but with some sort of headphone-to-RCA cable instead to transmit RC5 codes to my amplifier by wire?
