Hi a few weeks back much of radio 4 went missing. I now never see In our time and nothing much shows up after 19:45pm. I haven't been able to listen to the world tonight except a live. the missing programs don't show up even when I look under program title rather than by day of week. Lots of other pogroms don't seem to appear. I tried the BBC streaming e-mail address via email but received no reply. Anyone any ideas? After upgrading both my servers will only play listen again - the one that used to only play live [with WMA preferred (only] on the old player now can play listen again but won't play live any more. When I choose to play live the server shows BBC Radio 4 FM / 0, AAC Internet Radio. A timer counts up to the left of the progress bar, the bar does mot move and it says 0:00 (1 of 1) at the end of the bar. My SB Radio says connecting with a large radio 4 icon displayed. Assuming you haven't disabled native AAC under Settings/Advanced/File Types, since both Radio and Sb3 are affected makes it looks like a network config issue - possibly PC firewall and/or router security. If you want to carry out a similar test for WMA stream try the SomaFM WMA URL - this is a 32kbit./sec WMA stream for same station. http://somafm.com/wma/illstreet.asx So that works fine. Currently, I have two squeeze servers running, both with up to date i-Players. Both are on the same network behind the same Forefront firewall. One plays live but no listen again and vice- versa Live playing server has Prefer WMA streams as its only setting Listen again playing server has everything but prefer WMA enabled (native AAC, Flash AAC, Flash MP3 and Show Live Text). Anyone any thoughts? (Other than the obvious try some other combinations - which I have tried before and I am not convinced that without resetting everything that just switching check boxes always gives the same result i.e. previous state may alter the result). Ideally, I'd like to use one server for both. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)
Because it just happened that way. I had a single squeezebox server and I was unable to reliably get both live and listen again to work reliably for some time. After one of the BBC format changes some months ago I started having trouble (with my original squeezebox server). I tried to follow advice about AAC, flash etc. in the forums and posted a few questions but often found I needed to the restart the server before I could get one of the services to start and was always changing the check boxes but with (from my view) unpredictable results. As the machine running the squeezebox was a heavily used workstation that has had hundreds of things installed on it at various times and has had seen several updates to squeeze server, i-player etc. I decided to build a brand new clean Windows 7 dedicated virtual machine with nothing else on it; then install a brand new squeeze server and apply the latest i-player plugin and leave everything with default settings. I was somewhat disappointed to find that when connected to this server I couldn't get live - it appears to start and sometimes flashes buffering 2% or 3% (never more) before remaining stuck on connecting [this is the one that has all but WMA checked]. Since I had a system in which changing library allowed me to have live or listen again (and this is quite easy on the radio - less so on my SB3s) I decided to live with it since I had now got back to where I was 6 months ago (with my original server) in that I can now hear either which is much better than what I had before. Ideally, I'd have one server by I am loathed to change anything and get back to frustrating scenario I had most of the summer. In particular, I am nervous of making I don't feel I understand what the various option actually do- in that I don't have a matrix in my head of pros, cons, radio program type and actual low level protocols associated with each of the options. e.g. I still don't understand why I should need the choices - isn't there just a correct configuration fora UK user? -- IanCHC IanCHC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.4.1 ReadyNAS NV + an BBC i-player
I have now tried reinstalling several 7.3 builds. I get the same result - live plays fine (as WMA). Listen again will not play - timer displays on web page (runs indefinitely), name of program appears on the SB - but no sound. changing the settings in BBC iplayer from advanced, change what picture I get on the properties of the listen again programme in the web UI - with MP3 I get an i-player logo and play/queue buttons - with AAC I get a picture of the presenter/studio but no buttons at all. I seem to remember that when I first realised that I could install i-player on the ReadyNAS (and remove squeeze center from my desktop so it could sleep) I think I found that I had to set prefer WMA - but as a practising idiot, I didn't write this down. So it seems to me possibilities are: 1) I removed something important after trying to clear up multiple 7.4s problem using SSH and I now can't process a format I could before 2) Something about 0.9f is just different and doesn't work on my config (I note there is another thread about iplayer not playing listen again on QNAP - sounds very similar) 3) The BBC changed something - that happened just about when I did my 7/4 upgrade 4) Something else. Thanks I think I might post a better titled thread to see if anyone has go this config working - having spent many hours installing and reinstalling I would be encouraged to continue if someone else has succeeded. -- IanCHC IanCHC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70529 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer Won't Play Listen Again on ReadyNAS nv+
I have already posted about this elsewhere and don't want to duplicate but I would like to know if anyone is successfully using iPlayer listen again with the Readynas with the latest iPlayer. In which case I'd be very interested to know about version (radiator, squeeze version etc.) and which settings you have on the advanced BBC iPlayer screen. -- IanCHC IanCHC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71261 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.4.1 ReadyNAS NV + an BBC i-player
Thanks for that. What I don't understand it how it was working until I upgraded. I have not added or removed any pertinent rules from my ISA server for months. Until I tried my update (7.4 and I guess mew iPlayer), I was happily listening again from my ReadyNAS for months? I suppose, I should not look a gift horse in the mouth - but I am curious. (My web UI now shows a picture on the righthand side - which is new - didn't used to get that when lsitening again before it all went wrong). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer Won't Play Listen Again on ReadyNAS nv+
BPA has fixed this for me (thanks) - it's port 1935 on the firewall. Odd thing is, that this port has never been open on my ISA server but listen again was working just before I made the upgrade to 7.4 and updated my IPlayer plugin. -- IanCHC IanCHC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71261 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.4.1 ReadyNAS NV + an BBC i-player
So far everything seems to work... thank you. I know that the upgrade, updated the iPlayer - I was susprised to find it hadn't done this automatically. The firewall is on a separate Windows 2003 server running Microsoft's ISA server. (If there is a firewall capability on the Readynas - I know nothing about it - Linux is not my thing) Thanks -- IanCHC IanCHC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70529 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.4.1 ReadyNAS NV + an BBC i-player
Sorry - I don't want to mislead you. It has nothing to do with Windows 2003 server in my case. I run Microsoft's Internet Security and Acceleration Server (a firewall proxy server) application on Windows 2003 server. This sits between my block of public IP addresses and my internal network - where one of my server happens to be the ReadyNAS. As with most firewalls, its default approach is pass nothing. I (of course) had long ago opened port 80 so that explains as you say, why i-player was working. All connections to or from the internal network have to pass through this device - the fact that it runs on Windows 2003 server makes no difference. -- IanCHC IanCHC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70529 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.4.1 ReadyNAS NV + an BBC i-player
A few weeks ago I started upgrading. I went through the multiple instance problem with 7.4, cleaned up in various ways (including rm'ing from ssh) and have now installed 7.4.1 twice. Basically I can play using list live but not from listen again e.g. today, Tuesday. I get the list of programs ( a bit slow) I can play them both from the player and :9000 web site but although the website claims they are playing I only ever see the program title. The iplayer is currently v0.9f. I think I might go back to 7.3 (as I have now been missing my radio 4 for some weeks) but I will hang around in 7.4.1 a little longer in case anyone more knowledgeable than I has suggestions or wants me to gather some information. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.4.1 ReadyNAS NV + an BBC i-player
Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it No joy - only flash MP3 is now set. Result the same. The server seems to believe it is playing - the clock is counting on the website but the player is stuck at 0. This happens whether I start playing from the website or from the squeeze player. So the squeeze player's messages seem to reach the server and the server believes it is streaming. Perhaps I'd do best to go back 7.3 versions? -- IanCHC IanCHC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70529 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer plugins
Hello I am having a problem with listen again - live works fine. I also had the same issue with several 7.41 interim builds - the last time it worked was with the 7.4 [but that once suffered form the multiple instances problem]. I see all the program listings and can choose a progam - but nothing other than the program name banner ever appears. The slim server web page claims that it is playing to the device for a while - it counts time happily but no sound. I have a readyNAS Nv as the server. During the upgrade I used the cleandb, removed all old versions, applied, clenadb again etc. Previously I enabled ssh and used a set of instructions posted elsewhere in this forum to clean up all the squeeze stuff from 7.4 Any thoughts or things I should check? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)
I find that whenever I use pause on a listen again I nearly always end up back at the start of the program. When unpausing it seems to carry on playing for a while then it jsut flips back the start of the whole program. I think that the time it continues playing relate to the duration of the pause (not really measured). I had the same issue when I used Alien as well. elfez;402944 Wrote: (Wasn't sure if to post this as a new topic or not - feel free to hurl abuse my way if I got it wrong). Haven't seen any reference to this elsewhere, but whenever I press pause while listening to a listen again source (as opposed to live) the player seems to lose it's position, and acts more like a mute function. So at the moment I end up having to download stuff I want to be sure to listen to by using get_iplayer, which is a pity. I haven't done any serious measurements, but it certainly seems to lose position after just a few minutes. Any thoughts on what might be going on? Anyways, thanks for a very nice plugin. -- IanCHC IanCHC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
