Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Conflict between 'BBC iPlayer' plugun and 'Dynamic Mix' plugin causing rebuffering

2015-05-31 Thread NeilT

This is a very late update. As I had previously uninstalled DynamicMix
because I thought it was the cause of rebuffering of BBC iPlayer I had
to reinstall it to try to log errors. Since reinstalling I have only had
very occasional rebuffering. When it does occur I still get the same
Code:

Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback (371) DynamicMix: received
command: playlist pause

 line in the log, but it's now so rare that I have to listen for several
hours to catch it - which is why my reply has taken so long.

I don't know if this is coincidence - I was away for a few days after I
reinstalled, so something else might have changed in that time at the
BBCs end, but it seems to have solved my problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You could also try following the instructions in 'this post'

I think the only link between DynamicMix and Dynamic Playlists is
'Dynamic' in the name, but I did end up uninstalling both. If you go to
the Server settings page and click on the link to Logitech Media Server

Thanks Phil, I spend roughly the same amount of time listening to BBC

Buffering this morning is much less, but just happened again, with a
different error showing in the log

This error also appears singly when the stream is not interrupted, so it
looks like the stream only pauses when multiple errors pile up.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Conflict between 'BBC iPlayer' plugun and 'Dynamic Mix' plugin causing rebuffering

2015-05-05 Thread NeilT

Along with a number of others I have been getting very frustrated with
repeated rebuffering of BBC iPlayer streams. The problem doesn't appear
consistently - some days it happens every minute or so, some days
rarely.

Today I had a look at the logfile for my server (which is at "your
server":9000/server.log?lines=1000) and found this

Code:

(15-05-05 18:23:58.8693)  Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback
(371) DynamicMix: received command: playlist play
  (15-05-05 18:23:58.8741) Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback (371)

DynamicMix: received command: playlist newsong
  (15-05-05 18:24:02.3417) Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::isDynamicPlaylistActive
(609) DynamicPlaylist not active
  (15-05-05 18:24:10.6682) Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback (371)
DynamicMix: received command: playlist pause
  (15-05-05 18:24:42.6359) Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback (371)
DynamicMix: received command: playlist pause
  (15-05-05 18:25:15.7590) Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback (371)
DynamicMix: received command: playlist pause
  (15-05-05 18:25:46.6675) Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback (371)
DynamicMix: received command: playlist pause
  (15-05-05 18:26:19.5779) Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback (371)
DynamicMix: received command: playlist pause
  (15-05-05 18:26:55.4870) Plugins::DynamicMix::Plugin::commandCallback (371)
DynamicMix: received command: playlist pause

I have the DynamicMix plugin installed and it looks like it is treating
the iPlayer stream as a playlist and pausing it at random. I've
uninstalled the plugin (alog with the dynamicPlaylist plugin beause i'm
not wearing my glasses) and restarted the server and, so far, no
rebuffering after the initial pause at the start of the stream?

Does this solve the problem for anyone else?
Does this make any sense to someone who knows how these plugins work?

you can edit the menu.opml file to play the new streams found in the

You can find edited versions of the menu.opml files in 'this post.'

If you want to try them out you can just copy the file across into the
...\Plugins\BBCiPlayer directory and open the plugin (obviously back up
your existing menu.opml file first).

On my system the menu.ompl file is in
ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\BBCiPlayer

I've attached my edited version of menu.opml - It has all the non-local
stations changed to remove the wma stream and include the new stream as
the aac stream, except for BBC World Service, because that doesn't seem
to have a stream. I've only edited one of the local stations -
Cambridgeshire, because that's where I live.

For some reason the icon files for everything on the list after BBC
World service are old versions that no longer exist, but this was the
case in the original file, it's not something broken by my editing.

If you want to try it out you can just copy the file across into the
...\Plugins\BBCiPlayer directory and open the plugin (obviously back up
your existing menu.opml file first). It only works for the Listen live
streams.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

Many thanks to everyone (especially bpa) for their efforts, I haven't
been on this forum for a long time, but it's nice to see some familiar
names and how well the community can cope with a disaster like this!

I've got everything back up and running on Windows 7 64-bit by
installing ffmpeg, then copying ffmpeg.exe into squeezebox/sever/bin,
installing bpa's PlayHLS plugin after adding the repository.

Then I added Favourites using the following list of URLs

I notice this thread is rapidly heading for 2500 posts - now that we
have a solution that seems to work (at least for users running Windows
and some strains of Linux), is it worth making a new thread with
instructions to make it easier for anyone new to find? As solutions
appear for OSX etc they could be added.

I've had a closer look and I'm not sure the forecasts are different
after all.

For "Tomorrow" I have the Sun/cloud icon, "AM Clouds/PM Sun", "14C" and
"Wind NE 10". I have the same format for "Next six hours", "Today" etc.

For Saturday (which is tomorrow) I have the rain icon, "AM Clouds/PM
Sun", "19 May" and "Pr 20%". I have the same format for all the "Days" -
Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues etc.

So the icons are different, but otherwise the information displayed does
not conflict, it's just that different parameters are shown. I'm not
sure why I've got different settings for relative and absolute time
periods, but it's not a big deal for me.

I think it might be something to do with your setup.

On my Boom I have:-
Next 6 hours
Today
Tonight
Tomorrow
Friday
Saturday
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday

So I don't have any missing days, although Tomorrow is Friday, so it's
appearing twice (and each weather forecast is different!?). They're all
in caps as it's a boom.

Thanks for updating this plugin Greg.
