Thank you Paul for all your most valuable help. It has taken some time
but finally I have my SQB radio up and running again. The solution was
simply to reset the pcp time to the present using 'Putty' as you
recommended. I had to use the format - sudo date -s "2021-06-30
12:00:00". This immediately cleared up the lack of third party plugins,
the several 'timed out' errors and brought both Spotty and BBC Sounds
back and up and running once more.

Thank you again Paul. Typing 'date' now gives me 1st Jan 1970, both
before and after - no surprises there.
But how to force correct date/time?

Thank you Paul. I have followed your advice but failed to log in with
'admin' and 'piCore' as recommended so have not been able to obtain a
faster time setting.
Further, I find that the possibility for modifying QoS is not possible
on my router so have been looking at other solutions.
I have moved the wired Ethernet connection to a switch only one removed
from my router - previously it was connected to a second switch.
Unfortunately I have no possibility in connecting it directly to my
router with the idea of speeding things up.
On another tack, a further problem has surfaced which may or may not be
linked to the first. I can open my rpi using the normal IP address from
any browser. However, if I reboot picoreplayer and wait the 40 sec or so
to return to 'main page', i get an error message - Unable to Connect -
Firefox cannot obtain a connection to the server'. However, if I wait a
minute or so longer then hitting 'try again' connects me as wished.
Something else which mystifies me is that if I log in and connect to
mysqueezebox.com, I find that my SQB Radio is not connected - actually
non of my players are connected. Of course they are connected to my
piCorePlayer but with no third party plugins so no spotty or bbc
Sounds.
And all this started, after months of no problems, when we had a power
outage for a few minutes one night recently. Once again, any good ideas
will be most welcome. Thank you.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, I have already re-installed
picoreplayer (no improvement) and have also just created a new thread on
"Logitech Media Server" as you suggest. I hope for the best - it's
probably very simple to solve - when you know how. Very strange that the
problem appeared overnight whilst everything was closed down.

This is what I get and similar to yours - so all should be OK.
But it isn't. Third party plug-ins are not available in settings.

2021-06-20 Thread fmanchu

Many thanks to everybody who has come up with useful suggestions on
'rebooting', 'restart' and more which I have now followed. I have even
re-downloaded piCorePlayer/LMS to my Raspberrypi - unfortunately still
with no success in solving the following 'warning' at the top of the
Plugin Tab page - Bad repository
https://github.com/LMS-Community/lms-plugin-repository/raw/master/extensions.xml
- Connect timed out:
A consequence of this is now my lack of access to any third party
plug-ins so I can longer check my earlier problem with BBC Sounds where
I also received a 'connect timed out'.
So, in the first place, help needed please to solve the bad repository
problem. Once I get the third party plugins back, I may need further
help with both BBC Sounds and Spotty - but let us wait and see.

Sorry to be a dunce - but (in a few words) how do I reboot my server? If
that doesn´t do it - then how do I reinstall LMS?
I am using iPeng, Raspberrypi/piCorePlayer with SQB Radio.

The big question of course, is just how did I get into this problem in
the first place? Closed down normally one day and got the 'connect timed
out' on restart the following day. The only 'happening' between these
events was a general power shut down for a few minutes during the night
(- this I only know from my burglar alarm messaging service) which has
had no effect otherwise.

All help, comments etc. will be gratefully received.

Been successfully using BBC Sounds plugin, via RaspberryPi/piCorePlayer
and SQB radio, for months until recently when I get a "Connect timed
out" on accessing 'Stations & Schedules' through iPeng.
If I bypass iPeng and access the LMS web screen directly via the
piCorePlayer, I notice that if I open the plugin tab, at the top of the
screen I find the following error message:
"Bad repository

- Connect timed out"
As this is incomprehensible to me, I would appreciate some help as to
what to do to get BBC Sounds up and running again. Thank you.

Thank you for your suggestions, Paul but, having checked the regular LMS
web interface, I find the problem remains. So unlikely to be an iPeng
issue - as you write.
However, I notice that at the top of the 'plugins' tab in the web
interface, the following error:
"Bad repository

Unfortunately totally incomprehensible to me so any clarification would
be most welcome as this seems the likely cause of my problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce : BBC Sounds Plugin

2020-12-06 Thread fmanchu

I have recently updated my hardware to a rPi4B and LMS to v8.0 and am
enjoying the new possibilities, for me, of BBC Sounds, now that BBC
iPlayer is apparently nearing its end.
All is well except for one strange defect under 'listen again'.
Programmes from around 2016 (according to my limited research) and
earlier do not play - with the message "cannot open file for: Play". I
am using BBC Sounds v2.6.8
However, if I return to BBC iPlayerextra using A-Z (the only 'listen
again' option possible for the moment), I have no problem playing really
old programmes (if i can find them after running through many contents
pages ;-)) I could of course continue with doing this, but using BBC
Sounds would be so much easier.
Am I missing something here? Any help much appreciated.

Thank you very much, bpa for your very prompt efforts to get us all back
on track with the listen again broadcasts.

Many, many thanks bpa. Once again you have, by some magic, restored my
possibility for listening to BBC iPlayer and iPlayer extra. Your help in
keeping it all running is invaluable. I just needed to update to the
latest LMS version and it was once again smiles all round. Thank you.

it is a Speedlink TRAP audio link designed by Jöllenbeck, Germany and
made, of course, in China.

I am non-UK and in the last few days have much the same problem as
acanning. Apparently no solution as yet but it just might be worth
noting that the iPlayer radio app (ios smart phone - unfortunately not
SQB) allows me to listen to the few programs that I cannot get on my SQB
radio. Am not expert enough to know what this means other than that
somewhere there is a format and corresponding URL that works. My
temporary solution is to just plug in a matchbox sized bluetooth
receiver to my SQB radio and play from my phone. Just might be of some
use ;-)

Many, many thanks, bpa. I have recently experienced several 'unplayable'
iPlayer listen-again programs. However, your solution of replacing the
URL has worked well for me. Have had no difficulties over the last days
of any kind. Great!
I am non-UK with LMS 7.7.2 running on a ReadyNAS with settings:
DASH>HLS>MP3>FlashAAC and 15 sec delay.
Of course, iPlayer is now version 1.6.3.1 and it should perhaps also be
mentioned that at no time has iPlayerextras 2.2.0 ever given me similar
problems.
One again, a huge thanks for your efforts in keeping us all listening
with an absolute minimum of 'down' time.
Fred

I have the same problem, Steve. But solved ( sort of ) by simply hitting
the “skip to next item” double arrow button whilst waiting for the
“connecting” status to end. Works every time. Good luck with it - until
a permanent solution is found. By the way this is using a SQ radio.
Regards, Fred

Many, many thanks to Man in a van, bery and, of course, mherger for
their fantastic help in solving my particular problem. Spotty now up and
running on my ReadyNAS Ultra 2. Marvellous.

I am having the same problem with my ReadyNAS Ultra 2. However, I need
help with your solution. Could you please elaborate a little on how to
"edit Sources.list for 'apt'"? Thank you.
