Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-01-03 Thread knigma

Using squeezeboxserver-7.4.1 with iPeng plugin v0.5.4 and a iPod Touch
with 3.1 firmware. I don't seem able to control the volume of either my
Boom or Squeezebox2 via iPeng. The gray volume up and down arrows just
cause the players to show their current volume.

I've had some success with MultiPlayer controls but the display of them
seems to be corrupt and I don't actually have / want the players synced.
I've now disabled MultiPlayer control in iPeng plugin settings but the
gray up and down arrows still don't work. Everything else seems to
work fine.

Any advice appreciated short of buying the iPeng app.

Best regards,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer plugins

2009-10-21 Thread knigma

Alien seems to have better Favourite handling of streams, especially
with alarms.

The only other reason I'd like to keep the Alien functionality over
iPlayer these days is that occasionally I encounter other real audio
streams and I believe Alien is the only way to play these on my
SqueezeBoxes. Do shout if I've got this wrong!!

Real Player seems to be in terminal decline so presumably this will
become less of an issue over time.

Thanks for your reply. Out of interest, how do you expect the changes
the BBC will implement when they retire Real Audio in March to change
the behavior of the newer streams with Alarm functionality? I'm puzzled
as to the connection between these two events.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer plugins

2009-10-20 Thread knigma

Thanks for asking for opinions on this. It would be really good to
update the alarm functionality so it can support regular favorites from
the iPlayer plugin.

I also notice that even trying to play a simple stream directly using
7.4 with AlienBBC fails:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/meta/tx/nb/live_infent_au_nb.ram

yields:

[SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer 0.9 and favorites

Hi,

If I add a favorite for the Live Radio 4 stream from the Internet Radio

a new favorite. Means I cannot use it for the alarm clock. Does anyone

I've tried a couple of streams with the requested debugging:

I use the FreeBSD port (audio/squeezecenter), as I have done for many

stock faad2-2.7. I don't think the FreeBSD port installs any binaries
of its own.

Do I need a patch for faad?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienStream playlist and slimserver 6.3

2006-07-04 Thread knigma

I guess the behaviour would depend on the firewall configuration and
relying on the server to respond to a different port may be unreliable
for some stations. I'm no mms expert but Google found this page:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwmt/html/mmsfirewall.asp

which certainly says it's port 1755.

and Wikipedia seems to agree:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Media_Services

Anyway; mystery solved and it's not as if talkSPORT is a great radio
station anyway imho ;)

I wonder what other protocols this could affect.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienStream playlist and slimserver 6.3

2006-06-28 Thread knigma

I've not really had time to dig into this bug so this is less of a bug
report and more of a this didn't work for me. I just tried moving
from slimserver 6.2.2 to 6.3 with AlienBBC 1.04.

While BBC streams played fine I was unable to play this playlist with
SoftSqueeze:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,TalkSport
mms://194.46.192.142/talkSPORT

I tried with and without built-in WMA enabled. Softsqueeze just
displayed Unable to play mms://194.

Downgrading back to 6.2.2 made this work again. I enabled just about
every debug option but couldn't get any useful diagnostics.

FreeBSD 6.1 OS. I'll have another go getting the diagnostics later and
check on a SB2. PS: I used SoftSqueeze 2.3 with both versions of the
server.

Yes; no problem listening to Radio 4 Live stream. Couldn't actually see
any evidence that mplayer was being launched with the TalkSport url.

Having upgraded from 1.01 and 6.2.1 to 1.02a and 6.2.2 some streams now

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienBBC v1.0 and BBC podcasts

2005-12-01 Thread knigma

The BBC podcasts are now working with Softsqueeze. Not sure if the Beeb
changed something or whether it was my upgrade from Java 1.4.x to 1.5
that fixed it.

PS: ref; the best bits - I was only using that stream as an example;
please don't think any less of me :)

Cheers,

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC v1.0 and BBC podcasts

2005-11-21 Thread knigma

Yesterday I upgraded to AlienBBC v1.0 (thanks for this; it's a great
plugin!). The BBC podcasts worked well using my SB2. Today I'm using
SoftSqueeze 2.2, and none of the BBC podcasts are working (silence and
0% buffer)

All I see in the log (with d_plugin) is:

2005-11-21 13:54:09.7176 AlienBBC - Playing: Chris Evans - The Best
Bits (http://tinyurl.com/bv4wn)

Other AlienBBC streams (both Virgin MP3 and BBC Real Audio) are working
fine.

Any ideas please? I'll see if the SB2 is still working when I get
home.
