Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-11-28 Thread maagma

Pippen,
Thanks for the response so far. But I'm not sure I understand how
iPeng handles players which have their volume control set to Output
fixed at 100%. Do you disable the volume slider on iPeng?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

I noticed iPeng disables the volume control when the volume control
setting for the player is set to fixed at 100%. Is this the intended
behavior? Ideally I'd like the volume control slider to continue to
work, setting the internal client volume even though the player ignores
the value.

I read through the links you provided and I think this is what I want,
but there doesn't seem to be any work done on this since the bug was
filed back in Feb. Is there any way I can test this feature using the
current source ( Version: 7.5.1 - r30836 ) with the latest iPeng app?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-11-26 Thread maagma

I created a plugin for squeezecenter which basically adds functionality
to control a separate whole-house amplifier via iPeng. I'm using two
squeezeslaves and a receiver to provide the input sources (clients) to
the amp. I then use the amp capabilities to group zones, adjust volume
and so forth. So far I've been successful except in one area; volume
control. I want to use the volume control on iPeng to control the
volume of the zone. But I don't want it to send volume commands to the
client. Rather, I want to fix the volume output of each player to 100%
and use the amp volume instead. This works out well for the
squeezeslaves as I fix the PCs vol control to 100% and configure the
slaves to use hw vol. But if I do this for the receiver, it sends
volume commands to the client AND the amp. This isn't exactly what I
want, however. Instead, I'd like to be able to control the volume
slider in iPeng even though the Volume control setting is set to
Output level is fixed at 100%.

Has anyone tried this and got it working? I read on another blog
somewhere that the web interface allows you to change the volume
control even though the client output is fixed at 100%. Any
advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

-Mark

PS. The squeezeserver perl code is crazy configurable, but I'm
exhausted doing experiments as I have to constantly restart the server.
