Just wanted to say thank you. Excellent app. I use it to control my 2
SB3s and 2 Radios. Am very happy.

BPA, as ever, kind help. Sorry for the delay in replying to your prompt
offer of help.

1. Yes, all SB radios and the 2 SBs use mysb.com. I am allergic to
leaving the PC [or any of the spare computers around the house] running
and connected to the Net. Have a firewall but still cautious re
intrusion, as well as overlong use of the machines. Am I old and mad? Or
just old? Even if I did, would that then be available to different SBs
and Radios around the house via the router and on different stations at
once?

2. Yes. Have now reset the R4 and 6 Music favourites to the mp3 streams
using the Search function, and found the R3 320 stream too. So I d have
a fix of some kind after all. But the quality of the 6 Music feed is
frankly poor; both drop out much more than before.

3. Yes, have used it.

4. No. Am a bit wary of installing Triode's applet because: a. The link
was not on the post at the beginning of the thread on here, where the
post was describing it; and b. I am not sure how to. Can I do that
through the SB.com web interface for players?

I WILL read again and see if I can try the instructions here:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103435-BBCiPlayer-Plugins-an-alternative-quick-fix-guide
but I am really only a non-techie, Level 1 and 2 helpdesk client/B ark
type in these matters.

Thanks ever so to you and Triode and all the chaps keeping my systems
alive.

In fact, gents, I am possibly one of many who may fall into that
category. I have spent ages combing the BBC blog and these forums for a
simple, up-to-date picture and guide as to how to restore high quality
BBC stations on my SB radios and SB3s. So far, a fruitless task, at
least to a non-techie of my ilk.

If I can't find it, while I can use the Macbook Pro in the living room
(but what source/program/application? iTunes Radio is awful. LMS for
Mac?) and I just dunno for the bedroom, bathroom where the SB Radios are
now or the other SB3 and hifi setup. None of them run off LMS as the
notebook and desktop are turned off when not in use. And I can't see
myself tweaking LMS very easily anyway.

If this is off-topic, I'd appreciate a pointer to where, now or in the
BBC's good time, the answers will be found. My thanks for your help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer plugins

2009-10-25 Thread nkat

Thanks for giving your time, especially on a Sunday.

"The BBCiPlayer plugin will appear as "BBC iPlayer" under the Internet
Radio menu. If you do not have the "BBC iPlayer" menu - restart SBS and
also check your install.

In the BBCiPlayer Menu you have "Listen Live" - under this submenu are
all the live streams.

In the BBCiPlayer Menu you also have stations such as Radio 1 - under
these submenus are all the listen Again."

Yup, thanks. There it is and the various shows under each station too.

All fine on the SB Server.

But - and this is a big but, as I generally do not have the PC running
all the time or SB Server either - I listen through SB.com, formerly the
squeezenetwork. On my SBs, now under "My Apps" is a BBC listing. Beneath
that are the channels again. No "Listen Live" choice, either. But they
seem only to be the live feeds, as when I press the right nav key, I get
only the "add to favourites" or "remove" if already in the favourites.

Do I need to reload or sync the SBs again? Aren't they talking to the
SBS on my PC?

Triode/Adrian,
Please forgive my ignorance. How do I do this, please? Just delete
iPlayer and reload it from the SB Server web interface? Will it have all
theo other channel "Listen Again"s? R7 much missed.
Tx, NK.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer plugins

2009-10-25 Thread nkat

BPA,

Have downloaded and installed the iPlayer plugin from the web interface
in SB Server.

On my SBs, I can see the BBC as an extra and the channels, R1, R2 etc.
But no "Listen Again" or A-Z for any channel.
Same on the web-based control panel when I click on the iPlayer icon.

Rather irritating to have lost these. Am I missing something, please?
Sorry if this is on another thread - if so, just point me there again.

Many thanks,

NK.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.3.1 Squeeze Center No AlienBBC Plugin

2009-01-17 Thread nkat

On the Extension Downloads page in SC 7.3.1.

I followed the instructions, closed SC and removed, I believe, all
traces of the previous Alien BBC from my computer. Then I restarted SC
and found the greyed tickbox still there. Uninstalled SC and
reinstalled it. Still there. Am now without Alien BBC and feeling glum.
Would somebody help the aged [54], please?

Tx, NKat.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC or Equivalent direct to SqueezeBox 3?

2007-09-25 Thread nkat

Apologies for being so totally green and un-savvy. Living in Hong Kong
so getting the BBC UK radio feeds is reasonably important. So, day 1,
just installed the AlienBBC application.
I intend to run the Squeeze Box 3 on the Audio Note/Kondo hifi in the
living room and perhaps another one in the bedroom. The PC is not
powered up all the time although the router is.
Can I connect to the BBC streams through the SB and router while the PC
running Slimserver 6.4.5 is off, eg bedtime and the like? Is there a way
to do this?
How elementary is that?
Thanks a lot.
