Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2011-06-11 Thread smagnuson

Thanks very much to those who found the fix! Here are the steps I did
to fix it on my Mac (in Terminal):

My plugins are stored in
/Users/steve/Library/Caches/SlimServer/InstalledPlugins/Plugins.

[steve@york ~]$ cd
/Users/steve/Library/Caches/SlimServer/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/SuperDateTime/lib
[steve@york lib]$ ls -al

-rw-rw-rw- 1 steve staff 117308 Apr 16 09:12
Plugins-SuperDateTime-Plugin.par

Unzip Plugins-SuperDateTime-Plugin.par o an empty directory in your
home directory (sdt in this example):

[steve@york lib]$ unzip -d ~/sdt/ Plugins-SuperDateTime-Plugin.par

[steve@york lib]$ cd Plugins/

Edit Plugin.pm:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-16 Thread smagnuson

Peter,

When my Boom alarm went off this morning (running KP 2.2.2 and SC 7.4
build 28532), I couldn't turn it off with the power button. The button
was non-functional. I did a reset on the Boom and restarted SC to get
back to a normal state. Then, I downgraded to KP 2.2.0 (kept 7.4 build
28532), and everything is now working fine. All the buttons work as
expected.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-15 Thread smagnuson

Peter,

I've been following bug 14007, which you opened a couple of days ago.
Today I see that Andy reverted to the old IR behavior in the recent 7.4
build (28532), so I downloaded it. It worked fine with KidsPlay 2.2.0 -
full button functionality was restored. Then, I downloaded KidsPlay
2.2.2 and installed it under 7.4 build 28532. It works, too. As
always, thanks for your prompt reply and for a great plugin.

Regards,

Steve

[SlimDevices: Plugins] KidsPlay 2.2.0 on SC 7.4: Boom Preset not defined

2009-09-08 Thread smagnuson

Hello, Peter:

I upgraded to 7.4 a few days ago to coincide with an upgrade to Snow
Leopard on my Mac Mini. All of my plugins work well with the exception
of KidsPlay 2.2.0. I had presets 5 and 6 defined via KidsPlay under
7.3.3, but now when I press either button I get Preset #5|6 not
defined on my Boom's display.

For example, Preset 5 is set to toggle the headphone output:
kidsplaytoggleclientpref analogOutMode 0 3

The Boom's KidsPlay player setting for How KidsPlay should deal with
users pressing the 1-6 preset buttons on a Squeezebox Boom, or the lone
button on a Squeezebox Receiver is set to KidsPlay routine or normal
function.Any ideas?Thanks again for a great plugin.

Regards,

Steve

 Hey Steve-

Thanks for the feedback. It's interesting to hear how everyone
configures the plugin. Speaking of which, maybe we should start a new
thread on the various SDT screen configurations people are using with
 screen shots/captures...

On the surface one wouldn't think the code supporting SDT's
functionality would be that complicated. But to get everything to work
right for various players and fonts with the flexibility the plugin
offers using the display APIs can be tricky.

I don't have time or patience to test all the possible configuration
permutations. While doing a simple fix for one issue I often introduce
other less obvious ones. I personally use the two line font with the
smaller top text so that one get's the most testing/attention. The
single line large font often needs special logic to be added. I'll
have to take a look to see how the overlays are handled on it.

 -Greg

No problem, Greg. It's really a minor nit. I thought if there was
something obvious that I was doing wrong, I could fix it quickly. I
see your point about the extra logic required to render the large font
and I do appreciate the complexity involved. I like the idea of a
separate thread of a separate thread so folks could show their SDT
configurations, though. Thanks again for a great plugin!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2008-12-15 Thread smagnuson

First, thank you for creating and maintaining a fantastic plugin. I've
used it for a couple of years now on my SB3.

I just acquired a Boom for my bedside table, and I set the Standby Font
to Full Narrrow, and set the SDT display as shown below. This gives
me what I'm looking for: The ability to see the time from across the
room (time is full size) and see the temperature on the Boom when I'm
in bed.

One thing, though: When the standby font and SDT are set up in this
way, the alarm icon is ALSO full size (same size as the time). The SDT
update asterisk is also super-sized.

Is there any way to set up SDT in the way I described and return the
alarm icon to normal size? I'm thinking it's possible because the Date
and Time screensaver that comes with SqueezeCenter allows you to display
the time full size and the alarm icon is normal size in the upper right
corner.

Thanks again for a wonderful plug-in.

Regards,

Steve

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC: mplayer on the Mac

2007-12-09 Thread smagnuson

I'm running AlienBBC and mplayer on a Mac mini Intel Duo Core running
Leopard 10.5.1. I'm using the Macports mplayer port. It will not
compile on the Intel platform, however, unless you add these arguments
to the configure.args section of
/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/multimedia/MPlayer/Portfile:

--disable-mmx --disable-sse \
--disable-x11 --disable-xinerama

Also, Macports installs apps in /opt/local/bin, not /usr/local/bin, so
I put a symbolic link in /usr/local/bin so mplayer.sh can find the
mplayer app:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] bin]$ cd /usr/local/bin
[EMAIL PROTECTED] bin]$ which mplayer
/opt/local/bin/mplayer
[EMAIL PROTECTED] bin]$ sudo ln -s /opt/local/bin/mplayer mplayer

And, as is documented elsewhere, you have to make sure mplayer.sh is
executable:

chmod +x /Users/steve/Library/SlimDevices/bin/mplayer.sh

Steve
