I recently installed your plugins and I have to say they are fantastic in combination with ipeng and ipad. Only issue I have is that even with popular songs with added song info in parenthesis i. e: (feat. Eric Clapton on guitar) lyric are not found. I found some time to do further testing and I fear my problem is a problem with iPeng and not with Erland's plugin. Using my notebook there are a lot of songs for which lyrics are shown. At the same time iPeng shows No Lyrics Available. Sometimes switching iPeng off and on again or changing the screens in iPeng helps and for the same song suddenly iPeng shows the lyrics. You can forget tracks 6,7 and 9. Obviously there are no correct lyrics for these songs. But the other results are quite interesting. It seems as if the results are getting better the more you try... What happens if you just start playing the album and let it play
through the complete album, does it always show the right lyrics then ?

OK, did some further testing: It seems that Musixmatch sometimes finds the correct lyrics, shows them for a fraction of a second and then shows No Lyrics available. I was able to repeat this with the following song (tags): Artist: Henley, Don Album: The End of the Innocence Song: The End of the Innocence Don Henley seems to be my problem child, because with most of his songs I sometimes get lyrics but most of the time iPeng shows No Lyrics Available. Did another test with: Artist: Benatar, Pat Album: In the Heat of the Night Song: Don't let it show Here it happend that for about a second the correct lyrics were shown and then the wrong lyrics of another song by Pat Benatar appeared. These wrong lyrics were found by Chartlyrics. I don't know if there is a time out programmed for the Musixmatch search but perhaps it could help if you allow your plugin to search for one more second in the Musixmatch database ? If I find the time (and the courage!) I'll try next weekend to eliminate the search on Chartlyrics. But I think somebody more skilled than me should try to change the plugin... By the way: I don't want to annoy anyone here, especially not you Erland. I don't expect further enhancements on this plugin - it is already great. If this is iPeng, I find it rather strange. iPeng only sends a single request and that should only render one reply (unless one is being sent immediately as an acknowledge for the command itself while the second one comes in through the normal cometd channel). The above mentioned problem with {} disappeared - thank you. But
perhaps I have to describe that I had changed the plugin in a way that
it only asked Musixmatch because Chartlyrics has a real bad hit rate
compared to Musixmatch.
With your update there are no more {}'s with this Talking Heads record.
But a strange beahviour stays:
Sometimes it finds the correct lyrics, especially with the singles And
she was and Road to Nowhere but most of the time it shows No Lyrics
Available.
In general Song Lyrics is now by far better than before so I don't want
to give you more to work. But because you asked here are a few tags only
from the above mentioned singles because I have seen that there are
lyrics for these two songs.

example which shows a strange symptom. I am no die hard fan of
Talking Heads.
2. Although it seems that Chartlyrics serves the lyrics for the both
singles mentioned above, I still prefer Musixmatch by far. It seems to
me that changing the way Musixmatch is asked by your plugin helps a
lot.

get shutdown in similar way as lyricsfly should be smaller as
musixmatch have the permission from the music industry to re-distribute
their lyrics. I'm guessing it's just a matter of time until ChartLyrics
API is removed in similar fashion as LyricsFly recently removed their
API.
I have tested Musixmatch for a few weeks and prefer it by far. But there
are a few artists which are not supported by Musixmatch, perhaps out of
legal reasons. For example, searching for Talking Heads songs ends in

I am using iPeng. It would be really great, if in this case I could
change between Chartlyrics and Musixmatch with a button. But for this
iPeng and Song Lyrics need a re-programming I fear...
But I don't write this to ask for new features. I want to thank Erland
for his plugins, especially Song Lyrics. For me, the possibility to read
the lyrics (with a little help from iPeng) on my iPad is more important
as for example, having cover artwork. Thank you !

Could you try the latest Song Lyrics version (1.1.3329) which I just
released, I've fixed one issue regarding the above scenario but I'm not
completely sure it also solved what you saw. If it didn't solve your
issue, it would be great if you give me the exact title, album name and
artist name used in the tags of a Talking Heads music file which doesn't
work so I can reproduce the problems from my end.
The new version has been changed so it uses musixmatch.com as primary
lyrics source.

I found a small bug of the lyrics plug-in. It doesn't translate the meta tags. I get something like quot; instead of the character. There are other meta tags besides the one I just shown. Details as follows: Squuezebox 7.5.3 Lyrics Plugin V1.13326 When you click on settings it takes you to 127.0.0.1:9000/settings/index.html but it says webpage not found (http 404 msg). I don't get this error when clicking settings for other plug-ins. Any ideas pls? It seems as if Lyricsfly isn't working anymore at least in my configuration. Since nearly two weeks I didn't get any lyrics by Lyricsfly. Do you get any results from Lyricsfly or do I have a technical problem ? Now I have changed the order so that Musixmatch is asked at first. After one week of testing I am sure that Musixmatch delivers by far better lyrics as Lyricsfly for my Rock, Pop and Heavy Metal collection. Nocko! -- Nocko! Unfortunately Lyricsfly has removed their API so I can no longer use
them, I've released an updated version of the plugin earlier today that
only uses chartlyrics and musixmatch

You can help them by going to lyricsfly.com, lookup the song and hit
the Correct button and adjust the lyrics.
I'm guessing the accuracy is better with musixmatch.com (which
currently is used as third choice) since they have official lyrics from
the music industry.
I'm not sure if anyone has tried to switch so musixmatch.com is used as
first choice as I described earlier in the thread. They claim to have
more lyrics than lyricsfly.com but I like some people to try it before
I switch and use them as the first choice.

The lyrics and song info plug ins sound great, but when I tried to install them from the extensions manager it seemed like you needed to have 7.4 for them to install. Will they work with 7.3.3? I have not bothered to upgrade because everything is working fine and I am too busy to risk having to spend a day or two getting the system to work again if something goes wrong (and it didn't seem like 7.4 or 7.5 were offering anything exciting for me). If they will work on 7.3.3, is there anyway to install using the extensions manager? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks p.s. 7.4.0 or later is required.
Is there a reason why you still run 7.3.3 and can't upgrade to at least
7.4.0 ?

Hi, It seems I need some help to get this to work. I installed both the Song Info and Song Lyrics plug-in And then I do what? To get Song Lyrics to appear in the drop down for my player tab for the Boom I had to enter the word songlyrics in the Interfaces tab. Not sure where exactly you are, but in the Boom interface you should be
able to just navigate to a track, hit right to enter track details and
there you should find a Song Lyrics entry.
In the SBS web interface, you should be able to click on a Song to see
the song details and then click on the Song Lyrics link at the
bottom.
Doesn't this work ?

You are absolutely correct, that works fine. I misunderstood how the plug-in was suppose to function. I was expecting it to automatically start to scroll the lyrics when the song started. I've thought about that and that also happens on iPeng on iPad which
have a larger screen. However, I'm not sure how good it will work on
the single line Boom display without also supporting synchronization
with the music.
Unfortunately only one of the lyrics sources I use (Musixmatch.com)
have synchronization data with the lyrics. That's also a reason why I
earlier this week wanted help to see how good the Musixmatch.com lyrics
are, if they work good enough it might be worth to also implement
synchronization with the music.

Thanks for some great plugins - much appreciated. Just tried the changed order. With Musixmatch first in the list I got a searching for lyrics screen for each of three songs I tried. I gave up after a minute or so. For the record the songs were: Dealer (John Martyn) from One World Tin Angel (Joni Mitchell) from Clouds Made For You (OneRepublic) from Waking Up. LyricsFly got lyrics for them all (though it got the wrong lyrics for the last one!) Musixmatch provides lyrics a legal way which is authorized by the music
industry, they claim that they have a lot more lyrics than lyricsfly.com
and chartlyrics.com which is currently tried first in the plugin.

Hi sorry for late answer, I tried to access it trough wget on the qnap and also from ie on windows 7. Yes, i use SBS on the QNAP I removed lyricsfly from the lyrics handlers list as sugessted and that helped, now the text displays right away even on songs streamed from Spotify:) exept some wrong lyrics from time to time. You can try to enable debug logging on plugin.songinfo and
plugin.songlyrics in SBS Settings/Advanced/Logging and see if the
server.log file contains some useful information after you have tried
it with debug logging enabled.
I'm guessing you get this with all tracks ?
And you have the problem also with tracks, artists, albums which have
names with only us ascii characters ?

1. Shutdown SBS
2. Delete the FileCache directory which is a sub directory inside the
Cache directory
3. Startup SBS and try again.
4. If it doesn't work, look in the server.log again and see if it
differs.
Only delete the FileCache directory, not the complete Cache
directory. You will find the location of the Cache directory in SBS
Settings/Information.

Ok, Pinging api.lyricsfly.com from qnap is fine, but when trying the urls that you gave me i get Forbidden: You don't have permission to access /api/api.php on this server. So i tried editing the Plugging.pm file and put lyricsfly on the bottom of the MyHandlers list and that helped. Now i get lyrics in the ipeng App, altough i have to get gp to the lyrics page where it says searching for lyrics and exit it again and then when i go back after trying some times i get the lyrics. How did you access it ?
I got forbidden when I tried to use wget, so they have probably some
protection which only makes it work with certain clients.
I'm guessing you are using SBS on the QNAP ?
I wonder if it behaves as a different client on the QNAP compared to a
normal Linux machine since it works on my Linux machine. You could try
to enable more debug logging related to HTTP in Squeezebox Server and
see if it shows anything more in the log.

Sounds like a problem in iPeng, try if it works better if you remove
lyricsfly from the lyricsHandlers and if it doesn't work better post
in the iPeng thread to ask pippin to help you investigate the iPeng
side.

erland As an avid user of iPeng on my iPad/iPhone/iPod I noticed that the latest iPeng app for the iPad just released has new features linking into your song lyrics add-in. I downloaded installed your add-ins last night onto my Qnap NAS box and was amazed at how easy the intergration was directly into iPeng. There is now a 1.1.3297 version of the Song Lyrics plugin available that
in addition to lyricsfly.com also get lyrics from chartlyrics.com and
musixmatch.com.
Please try it and let me know if this improved its ability to get
lyrics for your library.

Erland, I've obviously only tested the updated plugin very little so far, but all indicators are pointing right towards the sky :) In addition to acknowledging the various sources, its also useful [I suppose] to see that the new sources are contributing so much to the much improved hitrate. I'll spend some more time using it, and report back with more details if needed. Anyway. I am really greatful for this* I have been seriously contemplating, and also somewhat started, the process of manually scanning or downloading lyrics, saving them in text-files, and using the fileviewer plugin for accessing them through the various SB-UIs. I suppose this somewhat illustrates my appreciation of this work since the size of my library is approaching 2K albums. Is it in the list of recommended plugins. Here's a few. Note that subsonic/isub may return wrong lyrics more often than I thought. Also note that in one case the subsonic-webui never finished the search, while iSub quickly found the lyrics. Edit: I don't have any statistics on how good the coverage is. But it
appears to generally be much better than what is the case for the
current lyrics plugin.
Do you have some sample of artist/song combinations that doesn't work
with the current plugin but do work in iSub or SubSonic ?
I'm asking because I read that SubSonic uses chartlyrics.com and I did
an implementation towards that yesterday but so far most of the songs
in my library that's missing lyrics in the old plugin is also missing
lyrics on chartlyrics.com.
If I get some samples, it's easier to verify if they really get the
lyrics from chartlyrics.com and not from somewhere else.

Hi all, The lyrics plugin is IMO the coolest non-essential (as opposed to playing music) feature - together with mherger's AlbumReview and Biography. Or I could say that it is showcasing the true potential and advantage of computer based playback :) But the hit-rate is very low for me. Wonder if anything could be done to improve this. I suspect there are legal issues involved, but don't really know any details at all. I only know that other software achieve much better hitrates. Just to make sure I understand this correctly.
Does iSub require your own Subsonic server ?
And you just have to do a one time donation of at least 10 EUR to be
able to use it ?
Plus the $5 for the iPhone app of course.

make an integration towards to also retrieve lyrics from the Subsonic
server.
Or is it with the $4/month one.ubuntu.com server you get more acurate
lyrics ?
