[SlimDevices: Plugins] Is there a plugin that will download all tracks in a playlist through the browser?

2015-06-29 Thread jstraw

Thread title speaks for itself.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

if you want to download a bunch of files - you had to zip it.
A zipfile is worthless eg. on a smartphone.

To queue all tracks may be a to huge memory usage on the browser.
And there is no smb involved in pure lms to handle that without the
browser and smartphones doesnt know anything about smb.
 .

I'm at a computer with LMS open in a browser. I have a playlist loaded.
I can select each track one at a time in the right hand frame, click on
the more icon, then click on the file link in the left hand frame,
then select save in the pop-up. Each file can be saved to the
browser's download directory. Rather than three mouse-clicks for each
file, I'm interested in a plugin that will automate the process of
downloading all of the files in the playlist.

As far as i remember that dont download a bunch of was discussed long
time ago.

current state is : lms is a music streaming server if someone add that
feature you may can use it as filesharing software and then the radar is
on lms.

why dint you wrote your own simple script for that?

I don't know how.

And pardon me, but why is it important to you whether or not the
computer I'm sitting at is mine?

I realize that English may not be your first language but the question
was, why is that important to -YOU-? What concern is it of yours,
whether or not I'm sitting at a computer that I own.

And it's simple? really? That's your idea of a constructive response
to a request in these forums? Are you always a jackass or do you just
play one on the internet?

You can ask the LMS server via the CLI (JSON) and get the playlist for a
specific player, and do whatever you fancy from there on. There might be
a slight complexity however, since a playlist may contain both local and
non-local items; a copy won't be always possible. Also a playlist might
contain hundreds of songs, and the copy/zip operation could disrupt LMS
timely operation (like transcoding, synching...) and this is a no-no.

I believe most users simply share their music folders using
samba/nfs/whatever and access files this way.

Thanks for the reply. My interest is in accessing files of my own, that
I've favorited and added to a playlist as part of my own workflow. Once
I've used LMS to earmark a set of files for use, I need to have copies
of those files in another location. I'm doing that one file at a time,
as described above. Tanscoding isn't necessary and I've got control over
what's in the playlist and they're all local files.

I've never used the CLI for LMS. Do you know if there's a tutorial
somewhere?

2015-06-29 Thread epoch1970

Well, tutorials... you're better off searching the forums I guess.
The CLI is detailed in LMS, under Help Technical Information
Command Line Interface (bottom left of the LMS main screen), the API is
probably still mostly correct, but the doc was written at a time the CLI
was accessed via telnet. Nowadays the JSON protocol is used, and the way
to craft/process a JSON transaction depends very much on the scripting
language you're using.
(I for one have posted over the years a few simple perl scripts
performing JSON queries. Python or JS seem to be a more popular
option.)

There might be another way of doing this. If you have a saved playlist,
could you access the opml (?) file and parse it somehow?

Thread title speaks for itself.

AFAICT there's no such plugin. And it wouldn't even make sense, as this
should rather be implemented client side: the web server can only send
one response, eg. one file. As others mentioned before you'd have to
wrap the files into one archive or the like.

You'd better have a client side script which grabs the URLs from the
server using the status query, then downloads one file after the other.

ok and you tellin me i am the assjack?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Didnt i give you enough pointers why *download all tracks in a playlist
through the browser?* is a feature that is quite tricky and other (for
something like that) protokolls not available on a std. lms setup so a
plugin wouldnt make sense ?

So, to reiterate, the question was whether or not such a plugin exists.
If anyone knows of one, I'd be grateful for a pointer to it.
