Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Playlist management plug-in?

2011-04-16 Thread Ikabob

The playlist manager plug in now allows me to add radio stations (URLs)
to my designated categories.

Philip, thank you very much for the attention that you gave to this
feature. It now makes it very convenient for my needs.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Playlist management plug-in?

2011-03-29 Thread Phil Meyer
I don't think that error has got anything to do with the plugin.

I tested a bit further, and now realise that my change only works for some
stations.

It supports Remote Tracks (a radio station that has a single url track
attribute), but when some radio stations are played they are Remote Playlists,
i.e. a collection of tracks that are remote.

For for example, I can play Radio 1 and then add the station to a playlist, but
if I play "Radio Paradise" radio station, this doesn't work.

I've made a quick fix which stores the first Remote Track within a Remote
Playlist. Not sure if I should be iterating through a Remote Playlist to add
all Remote Tracks. I'll dosome more testing - if it appears better, I'll push
out another version (probably weekend).

You can find the location of the log file in the Web UI by going to Settings >

I must admit I didn't extensively test this minor change - I tried it from
SoftSqueeze, and it worked, but didn't try all possible players.

Could be I packaged it up incorrectly; I was rushed. I'll try more exhaustive
tests on my dev machine.

Can you try from a classic player (or Softsqueeze) to see if it works. If not,
could you check your SBS log file, and email me any errors that you see?

I published an update, as described above, a couple of weeks ago. You should
have seen it appear as a plugin update (if installed automatically), otherwise
go to my plugin website and download the latest version for manual installation.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Playlist management plug-in?

However, it was easy to support radio stations for items in playlists,
including the Now Playing playlist. Thus, if you play a radio station,
you will be able to select "Add To..." from the item in the current
playlist, and then add it to another playlist. If this is good enough
for you, I'll publish a new version soon.

Phil

Philip, I am still very interested in the feature for "Playlist Manager"
whereby radio stations can be added to a specific playlist. As I indicated,
I have several radio station playlists for specific genres ( football games
in various fb cities, classical stations, opera stations, talk radio
stations, etc.). Every once in a while I happen to come across a new
station that I would like to add to a playlist and I can do this by a
process whereby I override the playlist and then confirm this override . It
is an inconvenient process so it would be much more convenient with the
"Playlist Manager" plugin. You had indicated that it might be relatively
easy to add this feature. I would appreciate the consideration. Thank you
very much. Ronald

I bookmarked radio stations into Favorites, and then moved them into a
structure, (i.e. you can create a sub-folder called Radio Stations, and then
within that a sub-folder for Talk Radio, Classical, Football, etc).

Then I copied the .opml content into the .opml file used by the "My Radio
Stations" plugin, as this is better than keeping all radio stations in
Favorites. I still have some radio stations in Favorites, but only my favorite
ones ;-)

That I feel is better than holding radio stations in playlists, which are flat
in structure.

But anyway, I have had a quick look at my plugin, and the SBS code that I could
hook into. I've hit a stumbling block with supporting the Add To... context
menu when browsing Internet Radio, as this is handled differently to the local
music library Browse functions. I may be able to find a workaround to
integrate a bit better, but will take a bit more time.

However, it was easy to support radio stations for items in playlists,
including the Now Playing playlist. Thus, if you play a radio station, you
will be able to select "Add To..." from the item in the current playlist, and
then add it to another playlist. If this is good enough for you, I'll publish
a new version soon.

No, it doesn't work for radio stations.

To be honest, I've never thought of making it work with radio stations; I
access radio stations in a different way so never put them in playlists.

It might be a simple fix to add, not sure. I haven't got time to look at it
right now, but maybe in a couple of weeks I'll have a go...

limited to just track selections or is it supposed to work with radio
