[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienStream playlist and slimserver 6.3

2006-09-24 Thread knigma

Just upgraded to slimserver 6.5 with the 1.05 alienbbc and this has
stopped working again:

Stream is:

mms://194.46.192.142:1755/talkSPORT

error is:

2006-09-24 12:32:37.6379 ERROR: scanRemoteURL: Can't connect to remote
server to retrieve playlist: Connect timed out.

and mplayer happily plays this from the command line. OS is FreeBSD
6.1. I cleaned everything down before upgrading to 6.5. Any ideas
please?

It looks like it's gone back to its old behaviour of trying port 80
which doesn't exist for talksport.

re-open the bug

Thanks for corroborating that. I don't have access to re-open bug#3796.
This time it's slightly different since even specifying the port number
doesn't work.

I think this now works ok in the latest 6.3 nightly but would be
interested to know if it works for other people.

It looks like this has been fixed in 6.5 but not 6.3 so I have raised a
bug report as it stops all the GWR stations in AlienBBC.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienStream playlist and slimserver 6.3

2006-07-04 Thread bpa

I don't know the spec for mms whether 1755 is standard or just
convention.

When http is used then port 80 is defined to be used with it so I
suppose a bug report could be opened saying it would desirable to try
1755 with mms and not 80.

However the problem with talkSport is that it didn't answer on port 80
- just let the connection timeout. Other stations respond immediately
with a refusal which is enough for Slimserver to know that the IP
address is alive.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienStream playlist and slimserver 6.3

2006-07-04 Thread knigma

I guess the behaviour would depend on the firewall configuration and
relying on the server to respond to a different port may be unreliable
for some stations. I'm no mms expert but Google found this page:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwmt/html/mmsfirewall.asp

which certainly says it's port 1755.

and Wikipedia seems to agree:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Media_Services

Anyway; mystery solved and it's not as if talkSPORT is a great radio
station anyway imho ;)

I wonder what other protocols this could affect.

Very strange - this is a log of Tune in with Window media (built-in)
disabled. This is from a 6.5 system but it is clear that matching for
the wma format is being attempted. Your log shows nothing - not even an
attempt at decoding the URL in the Tune-in. At the very least there
should be an Opensong to show that slimserver has been requested to
play something.

Are you sure d_source was turned on ?

Something is seriously wrong. Do you get any messages from anything
typed (e.g. ABC://defghi.jkl) into Tune in ?
Does Tune-in work for known working MP3 stations ?

If no messages - then I'd advise delete pref file and re-instal.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienStream playlist and slimserver 6.3

2006-06-28 Thread bpa

WMA Builtin option is only relevant to SB2/3 since they do decoding
built-in - SoftSqueeze requires a decoding app such as WMADEC or
Mplayer on the PC/NAS.

What OS are you using ?
Post a log with d_source when you try to play the Talksport using the
Tune-in box

FreeBSD 6.1 OS. I'll have another go getting the diagnostics later and
check on a SB2. PS: I used SoftSqueeze 2.3 with both versions of the
server.

2006-06-28 Thread bpa

Don't bother with the SB2 - stick with the same config (i.e SoftSqueeze)
and focus on the problem. Talksport only works with WMA built in
disabled so working SoftSqueeze is the best way to go. Version of
Softsqueeze is irrelevant as long as it is 2.x.

I presume AlienBBC installation is OK and is working for BBC stations ?

Yes; no problem listening to Radio 4 Live stream. Couldn't actually see
any evidence that mplayer was being launched with the TalkSport url.

On Linux Mplayer is need to decode WMA - however it is possible that
something is stopping mplayer being launched.

Check you have the following lines in your slimserver-convert.conf
file.

Code:

  #
  # WMA for mplayer pre7 or later
  wma wav * *
[mplayer.sh] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -cache 128 -af
volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/3
$FILE$
  wma mp3 * *
[mplayer.sh] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -cache 128 -af
volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/3
$FILE$ | [lame] --silent -r -x -q $QUALITY$ -b $BITRATE$ - -
  wma flc * *
[mplayer.sh] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -cache 128 -af
volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/3
$FILE$ | [flac] -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed
--bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 -
