Global Cache sells this product called an iTach which will allow you to
send various types of commands via TCP/IP to devices using everything
from Serial to IR and etc.
I am interested in using the iTach that goes from IP to IR to turn on
my receiver. I currently use a Squeezebox Duet and I understand that
this can be done by positioning the Controller in such and such a way
and etc - but that feels sketchy/rigged to me compared to a dedicated
device. I also already use the iTach with iRule and other software to
use my iPad as a remote.
The API for the iTach is available here:
http://www.globalcache.com/files/docs/API-iTach.pdf - it is pretty
straight forward and simple. Open a TCP connection to the unit, send
plain text commands with a carriage return. I know nothing of Perl but
it seems like it should be relatively easy to create a plugin which
sends basic receiver commands. Then just allow the user to define the
HEX (or other types of codes) for each "function" that the plugin
offers. Is something like this possible?
I see that there are other plugins with very similar behavior for Denon
products and for use with other types of Squeezeboxes. Could one of
these be easily modified?
Thanks (and thanks Stefan for pointing me to this forum)
