I stand by my previous post: You will get a much better user
experience by using the Squeezebox for the volume control. Set the
volume control on your amp so that it's as loud as you'll ever want in
when 100% on the SB, leave it at that setting and enjoy. BTW, I have
also tried setting the SB volume to fixed and using IRBlaster to
control amp volume. It worked, as designed, but for me, it was simply
not a good user experience. Volume control was inconsistent and there
was no indication of volume setting on any UIs.

yes I agree. The SB3 is at 100% volume and I didnt realise that the
volume bar resets after a change in volume. However the issue is I have
to press / release and press again with a slight pause. Which can be a
pain when I want to change down from a high volume or up from a low
volume. Ideally I would like to be able to hold the volume button down
and have it send repeated ir commands, however I cannot find a way to
do this so far even I presume I need to modify the config file for the
amps remote but do not know how

Sorry I don't.
But I'd be interested too in knowing how to achieve repeat by a single
long press.

I dont know much about the IR Blaster, but...

If sound quality is of any concern, keep the SB volume at 100%.

If you have set the player to fixed volume you should not be able to to
change the squeezebox volume, only your amp.I'm afraid it is likely that
 the plugin is broken.

If you search ir plugin you will see lots of posts about this
 ,including some from me.

I see, for me the SB is set to fixed but when I use the remote the
scale moves on the SB. I presumed this my have been by design but it
certainly does not behave as though I was using the amp remote, and it
seems very slow in response ?

2011-09-16 Thread mn283

okay not so simple. I have set the volume to 100% fixed output, but the
remote still controls the amp and SBC 3 ? the only slightly odd part at
play here is the fact I am using a SBT remote instead of the Classic as
it was the only spare I could get hold of. I have checked the irBlaster
settings and they have commands for power on/off volume up/down for my
amp and no additional commands. So I am at a loss...help !

[SlimDevices: Plugins] irBlaster plugin help

2011-09-14 Thread mn283

Hi all,

I use the irblaster plugin to power my amp on and off. Works great, but
can I set the volume to only control my amp and _not_ both my amp and SB
? The SB is sat ontop of the amp and moving it isnt an option.
