[VOTE] Move POI to TLP
Hi All After lots of discussion within POI, and Jakarta in general, we think POI is ready to graduate to its own TLP. Thanks to the magic of ApacheCon, lots of people have been on-hand to help finalise the proposal for this, which is attached below. So, now is the time to vote on the proposal: [ ] +1 I support the proposal [ ] +0 I don't care [ ] -1 I'm opposed to the proposal because... Voting will close in one week. Cheers Nick WHEREAS, the Board of Directors deems it to be in the best interests of the Foundation and consistent with the Foundation's purpose to establish a Project Management Committee charged with the creation and maintenance of open-source software related to the continued implementation of the library for manipulating files in various business formats currently known as Apache POI for distribution at no charge to the public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that a Project Management Committee (PMC), to be known as the Apache POI Project, be and hereby is established pursuant to Bylaws of the Foundation; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Apache POI Project be and hereby is responsible for the creation and maintenance of software related to creation and maintenance of open-source software and documentation related to the POI library based on software licensed to the Foundation; and be it further RESOLVED, that the office of Vice President, POI be and hereby is created, the person holding such office to serve at the direction of the Board of Directors as the chair of the Apache POI Project, and to have primary responsibility for management of the projects within the scope of responsibility of the Apache POI Project; and be it further RESOLVED, that the persons listed immediately below be and hereby are appointed to serve as the initial members of the POI PMC: * Nick Burch [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Amol S. Awhile back when I was giving talks on POI to JUGs, I brought actual poi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poi_%28food%29) . It was disgusting and took weeks to get the smell out of the dishwasher. For various reasons the list stopped sending to him and stopped accepting his posts (I had the same problem). At some point his CVS access became disabled (I suspect someone was fixing group permissions or something) and after a good while he lost his password. At one point it was said that he hadn't sent his CLA, this was untrue (I was told this at once point as well). He sent another copy again. His account was still not re-enabled. He kind of gave up at some point. I had a similar but divergent saga and with your help it was resolved (thanks). If someone on POI will be able to administer the account access that is acceptable. Otherwise nothing will change to improve that situation really. According to that link. (http://people.apache.org/~jim/committers.html#unlistedclas) Marcus Wayne Johnson (aka Marc Johnson) has a CLA but is not a committer.
