It is marked as only for i386 and powerpc. However, it also requires gcc3 to build and both of these archs now use gcc4. Do we simply want to remove the port? Do we want to build it with gcc3 from ports? That's easy enough, diff below. I don't use qemu, though, so I don't know if it actually works. If that is the case then also re-enable it on amd64. I'm having issues on i386 with the new qemu. I can create instances and even created a windows 7 instance using only 600MB of RAM. Problem comes when I try to give an instance more than 725M. On the Windows and Fedora 13 instances, I get a abort with a core dump. I'd been working with Frederico Schwindt, who told me that I appear to be out of memory, but I put all my ulimits to as high as they would go, and still crashed when I attempted to run: Well, you *are* in fact running out of memory. Check ulimit -d, on i386 it can't be set above 1 GB. And assuming qemu allocates some memory to the video buffer it is perfectly reasonable that you hit the brick wall at about 725 MB. In other words, it doesn't matter how much physical memory you have, each individual process can only address the (virtual) amount set with ulimit -d, which can't be set above the value MAXDSIZ - which on the i386 happen to be 1 GB. You need a 64-bit platform to get further than that. /Benny qemu -m 768 fedora13.img I built the debug flavor of qemu, and built ld.so with debugging as well. gdb /usr/local/bin/qemu qemu.core GNU gdb 6.3 Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
