Log message:
Import unpaper-0.3.

unpaper is a post-processing tool for scanned sheets of paper,
especially for book pages that have been scanned from previously created
photocopies.
The main purpose is to make scanned book pages better readable on screen
after conversion to PDF. Additionally, unpaper might be useful to
enhance the quality of scanned pages before performing optical character
recognition (OCR).

NEW: qrun

2010-07-17 Thread Todd T. Fries
If you have ever been frustrated by qemu command line maddness and/or the
README.OpenBSD provided with qemu is not making your tea for you, I give
you... qrun.

This was inspired by Bob Beck who fell trap to the above and whined enough
in the proper tones that I was compelled by strange forces to come up with
what even I find useful, wrapper scripts to take the complexity out of
running qemu.

Please test, comment, give feedback, etc.

I have commented out the run dependency on qemu, you should choose the
version that is appropriate for your arch and compiler variant of the day.

Note this will drive any version of qemu you have installed.

Thanks,

On Friday 16 July 2010 18:05:40 Christian Weisgerber wrote:

What are we going to do with emulators/qemu-old?

It is marked as only for i386 and powerpc. However, it also requires
gcc3 to build and both of these archs now use gcc4.

Do we simply want to remove the port?

Do we want to build it with gcc3 from ports? That's easy enough,
diff below. I don't use qemu, though, so I don't know if it actually
works.

If that is the case then also re-enable it on amd64.

I'm having issues on i386 with the new qemu. I can create instances
and even created a windows 7 instance using only 600MB of RAM.
Problem comes when I try to give an instance more than 725M. On the
Windows and Fedora 13 instances, I get a abort with a core dump. I'd
been working with Frederico Schwindt, who told me that I appear to be
out of memory, but I put all my ulimits to as high as they would go,
and still crashed when I attempted to run:

Well, you *are* in fact running out of memory. Check ulimit -d, on i386
it can't be set above 1 GB. And assuming qemu allocates some memory to
the video buffer it is perfectly reasonable that you hit the brick wall
at about 725 MB.

In other words, it doesn't matter how much physical memory you have,
each individual process can only address the (virtual) amount set with
ulimit -d, which can't be set above the value MAXDSIZ - which on the
i386 happen to be 1 GB. You need a 64-bit platform to get further than that.

/Benny

qemu -m 768 fedora13.img

I built the debug flavor of qemu, and built ld.so with debugging as well.
