emacs 24

2011-07-27 Thread Manuel Giraud
Hi,

I've talked to upstream to include some patches from our emacs 23 port
in their trunk for the next release. So far so good, but their is some
questions wrt the mips patches (see
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.emacs.devel/142154)

I can't test on mips (or even answer those questions). Could someone
jump in (or help me) on this?

pkg_add -ui - missing gtk icons

2011-07-27 Thread Marco Peereboom
So I ran a routine pkg_add -ui and noticed that a bunch of small icons
are missing in gtk. This a known issue?

I noticed it running xxxterm that now uses icons that are too large to
fit in tabs.

Okay, here it is. The downside is that port-lib-depends-check +
lib-depends-check both complain that exif is extra. Is there a better way
to handle it so that the signatures match and the package doesn't rebuild?

In the future, somebody might remove exif, again leading to rebuilds...

Thanks

Hi,

I have a list of these, this one was in the list. If using dpb -R or
out-of-date these show up. The problem the LIB_DEPENDS includes the
package path, but the library is not found by pkg_create, resulting in a
signature mismatch.

There are a number of possible ways of fixing the problem, the correct
choice for each LIB_DEPENDS depends on the port:-

a) if dlopen is used to find the library at runtime, and is required for
the normal running, then the library should appear in the WANTLIB.

b) Remove from the LIB_DEPENDS, and place in the BUILD_DEPENDS.

c) Remove from the LIB_DEPENDS, and place the BUILD_DEPENDS and RUN_DEPENDS.

d) Remove from LIB_DEPENDS, and place in the BUILD_DEPENDS, with a
comment about adding runtime packages if required.

Looking at the port/code, in this case jifmux.c uses the libexif header
files,

#include libexif/exif-data.h
#include libexif/exif-loader.h

and verifies in the configure that libexif can read what is created and
is version =0.6.16 of libexif. These jpeg tags are fixed as you
wouldn't want to go back an change every jpeg created with the exif
tags. The tags are defined here for example

Standard of the Camera Imaging Products Association, CIPA
DC-008-Translation-2010, Exchangeable image file format for digital
still cameras: Exif Version 2.3.

rather than create their own header file defining tags the libexif
header files are used. The used parts of the header files are fixed by
the standards.

There is a build_dependency, but there is no dependency on the libexif
library. The correct fix in this case is b). Move graphics/libexif from
LIB_DEPENDS-main to BUILD_DEPENDS-main. I haven't made or tested this
change, or attached any diff.

The port maintainer should be included.

Nigel Taylor

Problems with accent with an US keyboard in htk+-2.24

2011-07-27 Thread Daniel B.
Hi ports@

I've upgraded from gtk+-2.22 to gtk+-2.24 but an important configuration
I had just gone.

I'm using a keyboard with an US layout, but my native language is
portuguese. With this keyboard, when I try to type an cedilla, I get an
'c' with an accent. To solve this in 2.22, I added en to cedilla entry
in gtk.immodules:

/usr/local/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules/im-cedilla.so
cedilla Cedilla gtk20 /usr/local/share/locale
az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa:en

However, this has no effect with 2.24 and found nothing on Google.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a GTK+ specific problem or related
with OpenBSD port.

Any hints here?
Thank you.

Nigel, wow... exhaustive analysis.

Nick/Stuart, can you please move this to the FAQ? This is important to
others, in deciding where to place the offending package(s). Can't fit in
man page, but just right for FAQ.

I did test by adding in BUILD-DEPENDS-main but as it was still present in
LIB-DEPENDS, the package signatures wouldn't match. I didn't dig in as much
as you have but I did wonder whats a photo tagging stuff doing in audio?

Based on your recommendation, I made a fresh clean and package, and now
all is right. Please check that this diff is good. I didn't run it. Just
checked that signatures match. Since as Nigel analyzed, this is a build
issue, no PLIST change.

are you typing it?

I can type c cedillas just fine with the following xmodmap in a
gtk-2.24 app.

keycode 115 = Mode_switch
keycode 54 = c C ccedilla

That's windows-C.

Sure. I use us_intl. I set this up with

setxkbmap us intl

in .xinitrc.

To get a cedilla, '+c, or acute + c, worked well with GTK+ 2.23. By
the way, GTK+ = 2.23 has this:

Overview of Changes in GTK+ 2.2.3
=

(...)
- Add a 'cedilla' input method with c+acute = cedilla and use
as the default for languages that use cedilla. [Gustavo De Nardin,
   Owen, Fco. Javier F. Serrador]

Thank you.
