BTW, i think the current texlive manpage handlinthisg is a mess...

- we don't need manpages as pdfs in the -docs subpackage

- manpages for the programs belong into texlive_base, not into some
  texlive_texmf-* package

new: audio/ardour

2012-03-17 Thread Stefan Sperling
I've ported the ardour digital audio workstation (http://ardour.org)
to OpenBSD some time ago. The port includes some new glue code for
sndio midi which I tested with a Mackie-style controller.

It builds and runs, with audio/jack as audio backend. But there are
some stability problems. Sometimes sound isn't audible unless latency
is tweaked in the JACK-Latency menu. What's worse is that it freezes
up during playback occasionally. ratchov says these problems might be
related to jack's sndio backend.

I'd like to import this anyway so that remaining issues can be fixed in-tree.

Patches in the ardour port have been shown to upstream.
There won't be another ardour2 release so they won't take the patches.
Upstream work is focused on ardour3.

The ardour port and ports for two new required dependencies are attached
and also at http://stsp.name/openbsd/ports/ardour/

Yes.

I also think we should use this opportunity to kill the gnuls
subpackage. If people want ls with colors, they are better off
with colorls, and if they really insist, they can still install
coreutils.

Patch attached.  (I think I did this right, someone should
 probably double-check.)

I've just committed this.

Thanks,
David

Makes sense. Can someone check the attached tarball? I'm sure it has room for
improvement as I did it pretty hastily. I'm going to call it a day so I'm
submitting it now. :-)

Does the .so in libexec need special handling?

Can some of the pkgpath/conflict markers be combined and are they correct?

Didn't have time to build libc with the getline patch, but I hope the gnu
folks have gotten it right in a decade..

I'd like to import this anyway so that remaining issues can be fixed in-tree.

Patches in the ardour port have been shown to upstream.
There won't be another ardour2 release so they won't take the patches.
Upstream work is focused on ardour3.

The ardour port and ports for two new required dependencies are attached
 and also at http://stsp.name/openbsd/ports/ardour/

this is very exciting, testing now!

Firefox 11 on macppc

2012-03-17 Thread Brian Callahan

Hi ports --

I updated Firefox to Firefox 11 on my PowerBook G4. It builds and runs
correctly, but when I close Firefox, the process doesn't actually end. I
didn't notice it initially but about 3 hours later running top to check
on a very slow compile job I noticed that the CPU was taken up nearly
entirely by firefox.

Any suggestions on what I should try to do to hunt this down?

Thanks.
