Which mirror are you using? Check that all files in the packages dir
on the mirror are from around the same date/time.

Any errors from pkg_add -u? (You don't need to specify each package,
just run "pkg_add -u" by itself).

No difference yet.

OK, compiled, installed, and booted. rox-filer is much, much snappier
now, so your hypothesis regarding an uncommitted diff being tested
remains open.

I can't, a reason that is not obvious to me:

[hostname]# make obj
mkdir: /usr/obj/sys: Permission denied

rox-filer on -current has been slow for a week or so.

2022-01-18 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
Been running amd64 -current for several years, and over the last week
the response time of rox-filer has been massively longer than before
(about 10 or 15 times as long).

The rate of snapshot release has been very high lately. Is something
going on with rox?

dmesg below the signature.

Frankly, no. I had decided to try it several months ago, had not done
much, and I don't remember exactly what the process was.

Maybe. Mr. @sthen asked for output messages from running from the
command line, which I did, but that seems not to be sufficient.

Compiling a debug version might help, but I can't consider that for a
couple of weeks..

Safe mode ran better so far. In my case it's not language extensions.

I may try killing them one by one to find the culprit.

Libreoffice Application Error after Jan 13 snapshot

2021-01-14 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
Dear ports@,

Libreoffice puts the splash screen up and closes within two
seconds, with a message on the command line of Application Error.
Nothing is logged in messages.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, deleting the profile directory in
between. No dice.

dmesg below signature.

Firefox over ssh

2020-06-24 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
I used to be able to run the browser on one box from another box. No
longer, for some time.

Is this related to unveil? Is there a way around other than recompiling
firefox?

FIrefox related panic from uaccess.h

2019-08-01 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
Sometimes if Firefox is being kept busy, generally by moving around in
Facebook from tab to tab, I see a panic:

panic kernel diagnostic assertion "curcpu()->ci_inatomic == 0" failed:
file "/usr/src/sys/dev/pci/drm/include/linux/uaccess.h line 83

Which is in the center of this:

#if defined(__i386__) || defined(__amd64__)

static inline void
pagefault_disable(void)
{
KASSERT(curcpu()->ci_inatomic == 0);
curcpu()->ci_inatomic = 1;
}

static inline void
pagefault_enable(void)

dmesg below sig.

R16NW.G950USQU5CSA4 is plugged in:

doas mtp-connect
doas simple-mtpfs /mnt

I eventually end up here:

Sometimes I have useful connectivity for a while, possibly
associated with the state of the snapshot being run. I did not have
that today. Eventually, though, it always ends with something
like this. The keyboard is unresponsive at this point, so I have run no
debugger commands. dmesg below signature.

Does anybody know of a solution that doesn't involve sending my files
(mine, I tell you, mine!) to a web site? These are not copyrighted: the
phone voice recorder app uses m4a by default, apparently.

LibreOffice, libGL.s0.1 and FireFox

2018-03-06 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
I am now very perplexed by this issue.

Installed the March 5th snap and updated all packages, logged in,
LibreOffice does not run, cannot find libGL.so.1. Repeated attempts
are the same.

Until I run FireFox. Once I run Firefox, even if it closes,
LibreOffice can be started and run, repeatedly, until the user logs
out. Once the user logs out, LibreOffice requires a FireFox start to be
successfully run.

dmesg below.

I run pkg_add -u after every upgrade. Packages on my mirror are showing
a July 29 date. Perhaps it's slow.

Well, it doesn't do the trick anymore. Upstream I got a recommendation
to install 32 bit Java. Even if I had a clear idea of how to do that,
I'm not sure I'd want to.

Switching to fvwm and leaving the profile directory in place, same
results. After deleting the profile directory, LibreOffice starts
normally and started normally again after shutting it down (so that a
new profile was in place).

LibreOffice Crash if started other than opening a document

2017-01-06 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
First message December 21, no replies. Text below is the Document
Foundation bugzilla bug and exchange with developers there.

I'm baffled that nobody else seems to has seen this.

Description:
If LibreOffice is opened from the command line or from the cwm start
menu, it displays a dialog box to the effect that due to an unexpected
error, LibreOffice crashed, that documents that had been open will be
recovered. In the case when there had not be a real crash, the are no
files in the list to choose recovery for. Closing the dialog box ends
the program. If the command line is used, this error appears in the
terminal window: Warning: failed to launch javaldx - java may not
function correctly

A dmesg (sanitized) is included.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run soffice without a filename as an argument.
2. Wait.
3. It will come

Actual Results:
Crashes: can only be run by opening a document

Expected Results:
crashed, had to open a document

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

spurious crash dialog box, fail to start

2016-12-21 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
I run the version from -current (version: 5.2.2.2.0+ Build ID:
20m0(Build:2)) and for some time now, if I start LibreOffice by itself,
without a file specified, I receive a Document Recovery dialog box to
the effect that LibreOffice crashed and was going to try to recover
documents, with no documents listed. If a file is passed as a
command line argument or as the run action specified for the file type
in rox-filer, all is well. I have deleted the user profile, but that
has no effect.

Is this a known problem or just me?

Yes, it's a poor report, but when I saw no manual I wanted to make sure
that it was still a package before proceeding further.

Lack of manual was fixed by fixing a typo in a "is there a newer
snapshot? let's get the sets ahead of time!" cron job. The manual
states that minidlna runs as user nobody, but that doesn't match the
installation.

Starting manually, it works. But only manually. dmesg, logs, config
files below sig.

minidlna

2016-08-22 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
While attempting to trouble shoot minidlna (21 Aug 2016 snap) I found
that the package has no docs, either as minidlna, minidlnad, or
readymedia. Checked for man and info pages both. In addition to not
running on my machine.

Is it being abandoned?

Repeated this morning to fix after the October 28 snap.

Surprisingly, the dialog box to import the templates refused to close,
and captured the mouse whenever focus was set to LibreOffice at all.
Had to kill the process.

I have noticed a performance hit since the switch was flipped. Firefox
stays at the top of top most of the time, and its CPU percentages have
spiked to 175% if multiple tabs were being opened. dmesg below the sig.

rox-filer open as text and Vi's standard input and output must be a terminal

2015-03-29 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
Until recently, open as text from the right click menu of rox-filer
worked. Is the rox port taking changes from upstream?

Not anymore: returns ex/vi: Vi's standard input and output must be a
terminal.

The mime-types set to other applications work. Just not vi. This is
since the Feb 28 or so snapshot though that of March 26.

rox trouble after changing disks

2015-03-12 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
After partitioning a new disk and dump/restoring the data of all
partitions in the old to their successors in the new, Set RUn Action
and Open As Text do not work. I uninstalled rox-filer, deleted the
~/.config/rox.sourceforge.net directory and reinstalled to try creating
the run actions again. No luck.

Additionally, the link on the Rox page to create an account with which
to comment seems well hidden.

What is going on? Upgrading from the 22 Feb snapshot to 8 March has not
helped either.

I know about this issue and it only happens with ODF files. I am

  Robert,

Is the ETR on this looking more like days or more like months?
Months or longer I'll want to switch to different formats.

And get nervous about sometime being unable to write to them, of

last commit was: update to 4.3.3.2 and disable compiler optimizations
in the svx module (for now) to allow saving ODF documents

Fails same way with Nov 10 pkg snapshot.

Minidlna docs

2013-10-17 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
I just installed this package (14 October snapshot) and there's no man
page, no info page, and the README and INSTALL don't seem to have
anything about how to use the software.

Where are the docs?

Checkboxes in Libreoffice

2011-11-13 Thread Ed Ahlsen-Girard
Updated everything to the the Nov 10 snapshot yesterday, and checkboxes
in Libreoffice are working oddly. To be specific:

Moving the cursor over a checkbox clears the checkmark, but not the
setting. Checking an apparently unchecked box toggles the setting, but
the appearance of the box remains unchanged,

EXCEPT

if the box in question is a select all sort, in which case it WILL
visibly check and uncheck. It will also properly grey out its
dependent boxes.

I have not found any pertinent logs.

Works here in light testing on amd64. Make sure all packages were
updated together from a single snapshot. If it still fails you'll need to
 give more information. dmesg is
always good. Try and obtain a backtrace (gdb `which claws-mail`,
run, then when it crashes 'thread apply all bt')

I always update all packages when I go to a new snapshot.  gdb below.

Hats off to the gnash porters. 0.8.8 actually did something I found
useful, which had never happened before.

Now, sound was not synched with the video, and web pages with many
Flash embeds seem to fail to load in Firefox, but I think this is still
big progress.
