Priority Mail Label Concept

2007-07-23 Thread Bill Wilkins
Hello PowerMail Discussions List

There is an addon for Thunderbird that takes the normal "Mail Label
Priority" marking and turns it into high lighting the whole message line.

I'm not good at writing Apple Scripts but wonder if some one who is
could write a script that would make PowerMail message marking more
easily identifiable than they are now when only the text is colored.

Thanks for listening ...

Bill

ps: I have a .png file called messagehilite.png that shows an an example
and will email it to anyone who is interested.

I use PM 5.5.3 on my main computer, which is a MacBook Pro (2.16 GH
Intel duo with 2 Gig memory) using Tiger 10.4.10.

For back-ups I have 2 independent firewire drives and an iMac (2.16 GHz
Intel Core Duo with 1 Gig memory).

At least once a day I clone my main computer to all 3 back-ups using
SuperDuper (version 2.1.4).

This has always worked well. If something goes wrong with my main
computer or if something goes wrong with my PM, I just clone one of the
back-ups back to my main computer and continue working or if my main
computer won't run, I switch to the iMac until I can get the main
computer fixed and then clone the iMac back to my main computer. The
back-up PM has always worked well until the last few days.

Everything else on the back-ups works well except PM, which quits within
seconds of my opening it with the message "The application PowerMail
quit unexpectedly."

The PM on my main computer continues to work fine.

I've tried re-cloning and running both Disk Utility and Disk Warrior on
all 3 back-ups, but none will work whether I try it from the iMac of
whether I run my laptop off the independent disks. Again, the other
applications on the back-ups work fine.

I've tried each of the following: compacting the database, rebuilding
the sort indices, and a low level database rebuild.

For the life of me, I just cannot imagine why none of the PMs on the
cloned back-ups will work, whether it is on the iMac or whether I use
one of the independent firewire drives as the start-up disk on my main
computer. And yet, all the other applications on the back-ups work and
the back-up PM will not work when it is on a firewire drive used as a
start-up drive for my main computer.

Any ideas?

Thanks, as always, for your help with this.

Ken

Not reallybasically I'm doing the same here.
probably the database was open AND PM was writing to the database, when
SuperDuper was reading the database.
What you could do, is sending the crashlog to Jérôme or paste the
beginning of the log here on the list.
It might help to find the reason for your crash.

Thanks and all the best

If you have multiple backups, it is better to have one that you do every
day, and another less frequently... so if something gets corrupted,
deleted, overwritten etc, it is not replicated to all your backups
immediately...
