Using MySQL5, it looks as though I can't create parameterized views.
I've read the online docs and they say The SELECT statement cannot
refer to system or user variables.  Well, those user variables are what
we have as a parameterized view in VFP, right?

So my plan B around this was to use VFP to cycle through the various
options and create the static views (hardcoded WHERE clauses to make up
for the lack of parm'd views).  Result: 8480 views created within seconds.

Gotta love VFP's ability to dynamically generate code in other languages
(in this case, MySQL) for you!

I suppose I could create stored routines instead.  Wondering about the
advantages of one over the other?

From TSQL experience you can create the view and just put in a where
clause with it. Depending on the view, usually, you will not receive
the entire set of the table(s) and then filter it.

MySQL I have no idea.

The other option is to make some SPROCS and let them be in control.

Now 8480 views sounds excessive! That many sprocs does as well.

How many tables are in this system?

How does that help with a MySQL view? I'm talking about one creating in

It's not that many tables really at all. In fact, for these views,
they're going against 3 different tables. But there's different
criteria at which this data is viewed, and these views create the
possible datasets for which the accountants may access/analyze the data,
giving them a quick snapshot of the data rather than them having to do a
lot of SQL.

Re: Win XP Pro SP1 Version 2002

2012-05-24 Thread Nicholas Geti
I am not clear why a CD drive would scratch a CD so badly that it fails to
read.

Wash it with soap and water first. Then try reading it again.

I have been successful restoring a CD using an American product, Brasso. It
is a cleaner with some kind of abrasive (pumice?) to clean copper utensils.
CDs are coated with a layer of plastic. I drip a little Brasso on the CD
then rub it with a soft, cotton cloth such as a T-shirt. Rub from the center
to the rim, not parallel to the tracks. This will tend to roughen the
surface overall but level out deeper scratches.

Google repair damaged CD

Before trying it, can you not use a product such as AnyDVD by Slysoft to
copy it to another CD? If you can determine what files have been damaged you
might be able to replace them from another source.

It does appear the problem is mostly in XP. I had problems myself about

around her and that election loss.

And - FYI - I have relative in Alaska. Although, to be honest - it

Hmmm, it looks to me like the numbers were statistically insignificant. The
sample was on 1185 people and I WOULD LOVE to be able to see the slant of
the questions. Additionally, the professor lumped Fox, CNN and MSNBC
together in his estimation of the relative intelligence of viewers.

So, the NPR listeners scored 1.5 out of a possible 5 and that makes THEM
smart?

Typical liberal bs bias. NPR makes my blood boil for the most part and the
daily show isn't funny.

John

From the article:

The study, which surveyed 1,185 people, found that in comparison, those who
listened to National Public Radio fared best, answering 1.51 questions
correctly, while those watching The Daily Show, which mixes current affairs
with humour, scored 1.42.

These differences may be small, but even small differences are important
when we're talking about millions of people, said Dan Cassino, political
scientist and poll analyst. We expect that watching the news should help
people learn, but the most popular of the national media sources - Fox, CNN,
MSNBC - seem to be the least informative.
