Quicker to USE AGAIN instead of SELECT * ?
VFP9SP2 I've got a temporary cursor that I manipulate and then need to return a cursor to the calling routine named what was requested (via parameter). Would it be quicker to do USE MyTempCursor AGAIN IN 0 ALIAS MyDesiredCursorName or do a SELECT * FROM MyTempCursor INTO CURSOR MyDesiredCursorName? tia, --Mike -- Mike Babcock, MCP MB Software Solutions, LLC President, Chief Software Architect http://mbsoftwaresolutions.com http://fabmate.com http://twitter.com/mbabcock16 ___ Post Messages to: ProFox@leafe.com Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/502537cd.4070...@mbsoftwaresolutions.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice. Not sure about the speed, but you need to use a syntax like this: USE (DBF(query)) AGAIN IN 0 ALIAS test Fred On Fri, Aug 10, 2012 at 9:33 AM, MB Software Solutions, LLC mbsoftwaresoluti...@mbsoftwaresolutions.com wrote: VFP9SP2 I've got a temporary cursor that I manipulate and then need to return a cursor to the calling routine named what was requested (via parameter). Have you benchmarked it or tested it to see which is faster? What I do in these cases is convert the cursor to xml using the xmladapter and send it back as a variable to the calling form. The calling form then receives it back as xml and using xmladapter turns it back into a cursor Both forms have private data sessions ** calling form Local oXML,cXML select curTest oXML=CreateObject('XmlAdapter') oXML.AddTableSchema('curTest') oXML.ToXML('cXML') oXML = NULL do form form2 with cXML to cXML1 release cXML oXML=CreateObject('XmlAdapter') oXML.LoadXML(cXML1) oXML.Tables.Item(1).ToCursor() get modified curTest **called form init lparameter tcXML Local oXML oXML=CreateObject('XmlAdapter') oXML.LoadXML(tcXML) oXML.Tables.Item(1).ToCursor() get origina curTest ** modify curTest ** then create a new xmladapter object and return it to the calling form from the unload method ** method unload select curTest Local oXML,cXML oXML=CreateObject('XmlAdapter') oXML.AddTableSchema('curTest') oXML.ToXML('cXML') return cXML Rafael Copquin El 10/08/2012 01:33 p.m., MB Software Solutions, LLC escribió: VFP9SP2 I've got a temporary cursor that I manipulate and then need to return a cursor to the calling routine named what was requested (via parameter). just installed vfpro-9
Recently installed vfoxpro-9 and I still have 6.0 and all of it's working projects. If I start up version 6.0, the applications all work but in 9.0 they all crash. Where do I start to get each to run in ver. 9 or do I have to build each from scratch. I upgraded because 6.0 was freezing up occasionally in Win7 64 bit.
