Re: Reading counters

Thanks Slau. Yeah, that's all I know how to do right now. That is the way I've
been adjusting the nudge value. My question is, how does one adust the grid
value? Although, now that I think of it, is there any use for a grid for the
blind user? Or does it merely adjust what lines a sighted person sees on the
timeline?

Regardless, is there a way to get VO to read what the nudge and grid values
are? Or is the only way to know by entering a value?

Thanks!

The grid value isn't of much use to a blind user since it's primarily used for
dropping regions on the timeline. It is possible to move selected regions by
the grid value but nudge does the same thing if you're using a keyboard
shortcut. While it's not currently possible to read the current nudge value,
providing that you haven't changed the default, you can use Option-Command-plus
or minus on the num pad to cycle between 1 second, 500 millisecondes, 100
milliseconds, 10 milliseconds and 1 millisecond. If you're not exactly sure
what you're currently on, just a few keystrokes will ensure the desired level
since the values don't wrap around.

Question about Pianoteq

2012-08-21 Thread Christopher-Mark gilland
I remember a while back someone mentioning that they had Pianoteq working on
the Windows side of things but wasn't sure about how well it would work on
the Mac in ProTools. They stated that on Windows, there were hotkeys to do
various things like changing presets etc. I was hoping if any of you have a
list of those hotkeys, you could send them to me off list, as I'm looking
everywhere and can't find a list of them for the stand alone application.

My e-mail is:

ch...@clgproductions.com

No, that isn't the address I'm writing from right now, but I mainly only use
my gmail address for list traffic, not for personal correspondances.

Thank you so much, and sorry for the off topic inconvenience.

Re: Reading counters

2012-08-21 Thread Slau Halatyn
Make sure you're in bars/beats in the display format under the menus and then
an eighth note equals 480 ticks, a sixteenth note equals 240 ticks. So, for a
nudge value of a quarter note, you can either enter 0 decimal 1 and press
return (this equals zero bars and 1 beat) or, rather than entering the value,
press Option-Command-plus on the num pad five times. This will ensure you're on
the maximum value of 1 bar, according to the default nudge values available.
Press Option-Command-minus on the num pad twice and you'll be at one beat or
one quarter note. Everything I've described takes literally two seconds,
assuming you're already in the desired format of bars/beats or minutes and
seconds or whatever you need.

Subject: Re: Pro Tools 10 and Mountain Lion

Hi, Where should I go in pro tools to see if these fields work as I
am

still
in the process of learning pro tools? I should be able to let you
know

if
the proper fields read if I am told where to go and I will also try
it

on
my
lion installation to see the difference. Nick Gawronski

Nick,

Can you read the Start field in the edit window under Mountain Lion
in

Pro

Tools 10?

Hi, Some edit fields read fine like the file names to save projects
as and when you bounce tracks to files. I am using mountain lion
but

do have lion still around should I need it. I think it is possible
to down grade to lion if you need to but don't know if the newer
mac

books will support the down grade. My digi 003 works fine under
mountain lion and I did not need to reinstall anything. The only
thing I had to reinstall was the drivers for my express card for my
sata drive and that was not even an upgrade I just opened the
folder
where I had the pkg file and ran it and things now work great
again.

So, am I understanding this correctly? With Mountain Lion, no edit
fields are being read in Pro Tools versions 9 and 10? Can someone
else

confirm this? Version 10 reads fine with Snow Leopard and Lion, from
other
accounts.

Hello,

It appears to be an edit field where there would be text you
could

edit
or change thats not reading in ML with PT10. This issue doesn't
happen

with
PT 9 or 10 on lion. And if i remember correctly PT 9 on ML had the
same
issue. As i was planning to keep my air running PT 9 in case i ran
into

any
showstoppers in version 10. But when i upgraded my air to ml i
realiezed
none of the edit fields read at all. That was when i upgraded to
version
10
on ML to se if it would fix the issue. So if appears for now If pro
tools
is
an everyday necessity at the very least you will need to keep a lion
partition around for a little bit.

Piano tech worked fine for me on Pro TOols. I could see all of the parameters
no problem. Not sure about any key strokes, as I didn't use the stand alone
version. I just tried the 3 day demo.
