Re: Altiverb

2016-09-06 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Martin,

Sorry for the lengthy delay. So, in my opinion, Space isn’t loaded with too
many options. It does have a number of parameters (around 45 or so) that can be
tweaked and it appears as though there might even be some potential for loading
impulses although I’m not sure whether it’s possible to do it without
assistance. More importantly, Space offers very little in the way of presets.
There are 7 folders with only a couple of presets, sometimes only one per
category.
Altiverb shows about double the number of parameters and, more importantly, it
has at least double the number of categories with presets in each category that
number anywhere from ten to over 25. So, to me, AltiVerb offers quicker access
to a larger number of starting points. Apart from that, it’s regarded as one of
the best reverbs on the market. To be honest, I’m not really into reverbs all
that much. I tend to mix pretty dry and, if I’m using reverb, it’s minimal.
That said, Altiverb really sounds great when it’s cranked up. I just did an
album for a well-known lutenist and we used Altiverb as the main reverb and put
it up against not only other reverbs but also other recordings that were done
in churches and monasteries and Altiverb held its own with ease, not to mention
no LF rumble.
My two cents,
Slau

  Hi Rui,

One of the people on the list went through the painstaking process of
creating .preset files for many Kontakt Instruments. Here’s a link to a folder
with the presets:

  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tuqp1uo7ikge89a/AADMzrxTDav0MDha2xASZaDQa?dl=1

If you don’t have a Kontakt folder in your Plug-In Settings folder,
simply paste this folder into your Plug-In Settings folder inside of the Pro
Tools folder inside your Documents folder. If you already have a Kontakt folder
in your Plug-in settings folder, then just copy and paste the contents of the
Kontakt folder you download into your Kontakt folder in the Plug-In Settings
folder. Again, you might not have some of the instruments featured in these
presets but, at the very least, the Factory Library should work.
